Ch. 25 - Danger Is Coming
Just as Ray realizes Vali's arrival, Vali also instantly recognizes Ray despite the mask covering his face. Vali and his partner approach Yuri's group, Elli and Ray.
"Good night Miss Yuri, Miss Elli, and.." Vali's greeting came to a halt upon seeing Ray's hand movements.
"Young man, my name is Ray." Ray interrupts Vali pretending to introduce himself.
"My name is Vali Rogue and this is my fiancee Miria Schtrom." Vali introduced himself and the woman next to him. Miria smiled kindly and saluted.
"Master Vali is lucky to have such a graceful partner." Ray praised Vali.
"It's not as lucky as Mr. Ray who can spend a lot of time with two beautiful girls." Vali smiled meaningfully.
Hearing Vali's words, Ray smiled broadly. "It's a bachelor's luck."
As Ray's voice descended, he felt a cold gaze from the side. Elli was looking at him coldly, "Don't tell Elli she really likes me?" Thought Ray.
Although Ray also enjoys being with Elli, but his current circumstances do not allow him to think about love or anything like that. "At least I need to complete the grand scheme directed at my family before I can enjoy life" Ray murmured softly.
Seeing Elli still staring at him coldly, Ray tried to shift the topic. "Ah, it's very rare to see a royal hero's granddaughter. Can we have a private conversation? And let the girls enjoy the chat."
"Yes, I don't have a problem. Miria can you go with Miss Yuri and Miss Elli for a second? There's something I need to talk to Mr. Ray." Vali asks Miria to accompany Yuri and Elli for a while.
"Yes, get your business done right away." Miria had actually seen Vali's unnatural demeanor, but did not discuss it because she knew Vali was only acting this way when it came to his family.
On the other hand Elli who already knew that Vali was Ray's cousin, also began to connect several things. Elli is actually a smart man. If it wasn't for his overly emotional nature, Elli would have been arguably the best at managing information.
Eventually Ray and Vali leave the three girls to give their space a chat. Ray and Vali walk to the corner of the room after taking a drink from the table.
"You can ask what you want to know. As long as it's not dangerous information to know I'll tell you." Ray opens a conversation with Vali.
"Where have you been for a few months? My mother is very worried about you." Vali does not focus on Ray's reasons for being a 'lost person' but wants to know where he is and where he lives.
"You can see I'm fine, tell Aunt Eva there's no need to worry about me. I'll be fine as long as no one of Grandpa Estas' level attacks me. And as for where I live I can't say it right now."
"Why? Did that guy force you? You don't have to worry about your father anymore, Mark's been stripped of all his power." Vali tries to convince Ray.
"So you also realize we're looking for you? Then why don't you come back? Is there another problem?" Vali just caught Ray's point. "There must be something else that worries him, and it's more dangerous than when he was declared dead" Vali thought.
"There's another problem, but before that, please have Grandpa Estas check on Mark. If Grandpa takes a serious look he'll know what I found."
"Alright, I'll ask grandfather. And about our meeting tomorrow night..." Vali hesitates when he says he will let Estas follow him to meet Ray.
"You can also bring Grandpa Estas along, I'm sure it'll only take a day for her to find the thing I found." Ray interrupted Vali's words.
"You even know what I'm going to say."
Vali and Ray continue their conversation, discussing about the little things and the problems caused by Ray's disappearance.
"I.." Ray's words stopped as he felt a chill from the entrance. Ray had repeatedly fought with the Demonic Beast and felt his life threatened, therefore his instinct for danger was very high.
"It's the presence of people who've done a lot of killing." Thought Ray. Turning his gaze to the entrance, Ray saw a group of men and women with a strong presence.
"Vali do you know who they are?" Ray asked the group of people who had just entered.
"I don't know them, it seems like they are not nobles nor are they people of Silver Moon Academy." Vali was a bit confused as to why Ray suddenly asked about the group that had just arrived.
"They have a cold presence. There's probably gonna be trouble at this dance." Ray told me what he found.
"You sure? Why don't I feel it?" Vali hesitate.
"Vali you're a smart and talented man, but you still have one flaw. Vali you've never felt almost dead."
The words made Vali aware, indeed people who had been close to death could feel the danger more clearly. "What should we do?"
"You just protect Miria, Elli and Yuri. I'll take care of them, if there's a problem." Ray gave Vali instructions.
"You sure? There are two people stronger than me in their group."
"Did you forget? I defeated the 9th level Demon Beast Variant with two attacks. Unless someone as strong as Grandpa Estas comes, you don't have to worry." Ray convinced Vali.
