Ch. 180 - Burning in Fire
Initially Vali and his group decide to let Ray go to the fight spot first because they subconsciously cannot keep up with Ray's pace and if Ray stays with them, perhaps the students and instructors would be injured as a result. Eventually Ray leaves the group and rushes to the fight spot alone.
After almost half an hour passed they met James who was treating Little Black who was severely injured. “What happened here?” Vali approached James and asked about the situation.
James who saw Vali and his group immediately stood up and saluted before explaining the situation that was going on. James began to explain about the strangeness of the Deathly Forest and all the unnatural things that were happening around it. Starting from the many King Level Demon Beasts that appeared in the outer region of the Deathly Forest, up to the appearance of the Emperor Level Flame Chimera in this place.
“So after the appearance of the Flame Chimera, I caught the attention of the Flame Chimera with Little Black and kept him here to give time for the students and instructors to successfully escape and return to the border post. Then after fighting and holding it for quite a while, I ended up exhausted and almost killed if Master Ray did not come in time and save me before telling me to heal Little Black.” James closes the story with Ray's arrival and his orders to heal Little Black.
After drinking the Recovery Potion Little Black finally recovered and turned into a circular bracelet in James' hands. William wanted to inquire about the final condition of the students and instructors before a pain-filled shout was heard by them.
“Argh... AAaarrrgghh... aarrrgh!!!” James, Vali his group heard a raucous cry full of pain from the scene of Ray's fight.
“This is Ray's voice!” William and Vali instantly recognized this cry, what kind of pain made him shout like that? As far as they both remember Ray last yelled like that while being exposed to fire poison and almost died when he was little. Without wasting any time they immediately rushed towards the source of the scream.
Vali and his group could see Ray screaming in pain as his entire body was engulfed in a blazing fire. On the other hand Ray felt even more terrible pain and the repeated burning sensation he felt in his body already made him lose his senses and only a burning and tormented feeling made him still not faint.
“This.....what should we do? Ray...” Elli was really worried about Ray's state, if it wasn't for Natasha and Alice holding his hand he would have jumped towards Ray.
“I don't know, but I'm sure this might not be a bad thing for Ray. Didn't you guys notice that the Flame Chimera had already disappeared?” The quieter-minded William noticed the strangeness of where they were.
“What do you mean, Will?” Vali asked William.
“The current situation only means two things, first Ray managed to repel the Flame Chimera and received his darin attack before the demonic beast escaped. And secondly, Ray managed to kill the Flame Chimera and the thing that made the Flame Chimera turn into a unique class was fusing with Ray.”'s body William concluded the conditions that might be happening.
“If it was the first possibility it should be with Ray ability the fire has been extinguished since earlier, but judging from its current state this fire will not be extinguished in a short time! So the biggest possibility that happened was the second one, and if you go there it will only annoy Ray and hurt yourself in vain!” William held Vali to move and tried to calm him down.
Vali who had calmed down a little stopped rebelling, he tried to think calmly about what William said and realized that what he said was the truth.
“This... it looks like you were right, sorry I was too rash..” Vali apologized after feeling calmer.
“Luckily you've calmed down, now all we can do is wait for Ray to pass this thing and take him to the border post after that.” William releases Vali and watches Ray's condition closely.
After several hours of flames enveloping Ray's body disappeared, this time Ray's entire pitch-black body was like it had just been struck by lightning. But after a while the black layer on Ray's body began to crack and scatter in the wind showing Ray's body is bare without a single sheet of cloth.
William and Vali immediately rushed over to cover Ray's body as the girls began to shout due to the sight before them. Vali immediately took out a blanket from his spatial ring and covered Ray's body and lifted him back into the group.
“Better, we immediately return to Border Post before this incident turns to worse.” William started directing his group and rushed back to the Border Post.
