Ch. 144 - Night Attack I
The day changed night at the Border Post between the Silver Moon Kingdom and the Deathly Forest. Currently five soldiers were patrolling around the Border Post. These five people are none other than James, Ken, Zack, Andy, Carrol. The five of them are patrolling tonight on direct orders from Ray, in his order Ray also said to directly turn on the beacon when he finds anything suspicious.
“Actually what will happen tonight? Why did Mr Ray ask us to patrol at night? Shouldn't there already be a group that usually patrols?” Ken complained while patrolling.
“Do not complain much Ken, although Mr. Ray is very annoying at least he will not ask us to do something useless.” James tells Ken to stop complaining.
“As James said, although I really dislike his method but to be honest his ability in attracting the potential of one is at another level.” Andy chimed in on James's words.
“But still, shouldn't now be the time we rest? We've been patrolling every night for three days in a row.” Ken complained again.
“Oi, Ken. If you're tired, you better shut up and stop wasting your energy talking.” Zack said in a cold tone.
“Fuck you, stone face! You're really sharp-mouthed.” Ken raised his voice.
“Huah... You two shut up... You guys start interfering..” Carrol's mouth while yawning.
“Be quiet you're a sleepyhead!” Ken and Zack.
“Heis... You guys are really compact when it comes to dealing with people trying to break you up.” James let out a long sigh as he looked at the behavior of his team members.
“James, just let the three of them do what they want. At least they can be relied upon when the situation is precarious.” Andy patted James on the shoulder and asked him to ignore the other three members of their team.
James only scratched the back of his head and led his team members to continue patrols around the Border Post. As they went around there was almost no sound heard and the atmosphere felt a gripping silence.
“James, isn't this too quiet now?” Andy stopped James while looking around.
“Yes, there should be some people patrolling around here.” James nodded in agreement while raising his vigilance.
Ken and Zack immediately stopped their quarrel and turned serious. Even Carrol who had previously looked sleepy opened his eyes wide, Carrol was probably the weakest person in this group but he was the best scout in his group.
“Blood? It's bad!” James rushed straight north and was followed by the rest of his team.
As they approached they could smell the blood more clearly. In addition, there were also some battle remnants that could be seen faintly. “Andy! Light the beacon now! Ken, Zack, Carrol get ready to fight!” James gave orders to his team members quickly.
Andy who received the order from James, immediately lit a small fire from his hand for him to light a flare quickly. Ken, Zack, and Carrol pull their weapons ready to enter the fight.
As James got closer, he could see several assassins dressed in black and wearing masks fighting with five soldiers who were already seriously injured.
Carrol who had the sharpest senses among the five instantly moved swiftly and quietly towards the group of assassins dressed in black and wearing masks. Carrol pulled out a double knife from his spatial ring and slit the throat of the wrong assassin before returning to dodge the attacks from the other assassins.
After training under Ray's direction, Carrol discovers his talent as an assassin and asks Ray to train him according to the path of an assassin. Ray who saw Carrol's extraordinary talent immediately gave him a double blade-shaped Magic Tool for him that could help hide the sounds around his area.
“Bangs*t! How could he move so fast? And also without sound?” Shouted one of the assassins shocked by Carrol's movements.
Meanwhile the soldiers who had been seriously injured had a ray of hope after seeing James' group arrive to help. They also see Andy already lighting a high-level danger warning beacon for help.
“Andy, help take care of the wounded soldiers with your water element healing magic. Ken, Zack, help me fight the enemy head-on. And Carrol took the opportunity as we fought against the enemy to finish them off in one strike.” James gave the order without hesitation to his teammates.
“Good, captain.” The four people who heard James' command immediately executed it quickly.
