The After The Rain

The After The Rain
Unexpected

The dishwashing business was done, Kinara immediately wiped her hands and rushed over to Mama who was waiting in the living room.

On the sofa, Mama was sitting in a gang, waiting for her while watching television. When the woman found her presence, the television was instantly turned off and she was directed to sit in an empty room next to Mama. Kinara had mis-focused on one of the objects located on the table, but quickly he returned his focus to Mama.

Kinara sat down without asking much. His head wobbled for a while in search of Papa's whereabouts, and when he did not find the man's whereabouts, he only immediately paid attention to Mama.

"So, what do you want to talk about?" I don't want to waste too much time.

Mama did not answer, instead grabbed the thing that had stolen Kinara's attention. It was a savings book that Papa had handed to him first, and he had given it back to Papa to be used to meet daily needs.

He thought the funds in there had begun to be used by Mama and Papa, but seeing the presence of the object here, it seemed like Mama and Papa were still reluctant to touch the contents since then.

"Here, there's funding for your education," Mama began.

"Yes, Nara knows. Nara asked Papa to use the money for our daily needs." Kinara repeated again, afraid that Mama had forgotten that she had given up the right to money in the savings book.

"That's it, Nara. Mama would like your permission to use the money for something else, would you?"

"Bye, Mama. Kan, Nara said, wear it."

"You don't want to ask first, what does your money want you to use it for?"

Kinara sighed softly, then looked at Mama fixedly. "Well, what's the money going to be used for?" he decided to give up. Because otherwise, he and Mama would just end up arguing and the money in those savings wouldn't have been spent.

"To open a laundry business. Lestari's mother used to work in laundry, so Mama planned to hire her mother Lestari and two or three more people. Counting jobs for moms around here, right?"

"Okay, I can." Kinara didn't even take time to think any longer. Laundry business sounds good. After all, right said Mama, the calculations provide employment.

Mama smiled brightly hearing Kinara's reply. Then, his son's hand was grabbed, tightly grasped and patted several times.

"Thank you, Nara."

"Together, Mama." Kinara smiled, then clasped Mama's hand.

Without them knowing, Papa was actually eavesdropping from behind the door, his smile expanding to the ears.

The idea of the laundry business actually came from him, but instead of saying the thing itself to Kinara, Papa instead told Mama. Well, that's how Papa is. What could he be if it wasn't Mama who was his wife. It could be crazy, maybe.

...****************...

After Dzuhur, Kinara sat alone on the front porch. From earlier he did just silence, looking at the pots of flowers owned by Mama who are increasing in number every day. Just yesterday Mama planted another pot of yellow Chrysanthemum flowers, where the color is so bright it managed to make other flowers around it feel small.

In fact, Kinara decided to sit here alone like a fool because she was bored. Mama and Papa have gone to review the location that will be used as a place to open a laundry business, along with Sinta and Lestari. So, really, she's all alone in the house.

Sitting on the terrace when the sun is shining is not really a wise choice. But what could be done, Kinara had no choice. Staying in the room without doing anything is also not a better option. Because if he were to sit here, there would be at least these flowers accompanying him.

"You guys aren't bosen anyway, so flowers? Ever thought of turning into a rock, right?" he asked, on the innocent flowers that were originally peaceful enjoying the breeze of the wind that hit their bodies.

"I sometimes become human, the occasional goose." His sister, even though the flowers in front of him did not care at all.

"Why goose? Yeah, don't know. I suddenly want to."

"If not goose, so camel kayaknya also exciting. Kan, he's got a stock of water on his hump, huh? So, I don't need a lot to drink, let's not go to the bathroom mulu."

"If you guys want to be what?" Kinara pulled out her index finger, touching the red rose bud that was just about to crack. Kinara did not know that thanks to his touch, the bud was embarrassed, and probably would not bloom completely tomorrow.

"You don't want to be human? Excited, you know." This time, his naughty index finger was swaying the Chrysanthemum petals that had stolen his attention.

"If you're human, you can be angry, you can cry, you can laugh. If it's a flower, right, it can't." Then he laughed at his own words. If being a man is exciting, why did he even think to be a goose, or even a camel? I don't know, maybe it's so exciting, he's getting bored.

"But, no, no. You're still flowers, you're beautiful."

Kinara had heard someone say that talking plants can relieve a little stress that accumulates. In addition, the positive words we say to the plants will make them grow better and happier.

So, what Kinara is doing right now is just a proving ground, to find out if it's true.

However, for the two mothers who had just passed in front of his house, Kinara was like a stressed-out, underworked boy who was willing to squat in front of the flower pots and chat with them, but the flowers will certainly not come out at all.

"Pity, where young," whispered one of them, who was taken only by his friend and they simultaneously sped up the pace. Perhaps afraid of contracting the strange behavior of Kinara who invites plants to talk.

Back at Kinara, the girl was already getting tired of babbling. There had been too much nonsense that he listened to the innocent holy flowers, so now he felt a little guilty. Fearing, the talk was actually going to make the flowers wither and then die.

So, before that happened, Kinara got up.

"I said you don't have to listen, yeah. You guys are pretending to be deaf, okay?" last time before turning around.

When his feet were almost to the doorway that was deliberately opened wide, his cloud heard the sound of a car approaching. So inevitably, he turned back to check. Because maybe, it was Mama and Papa who had returned.

However, instead of Mama and Papa, Kinara actually found a man getting out of the car, carrying two large bags of crackles and his gaze was fixed straight until it felt through his bead.

Kinara froze for a while, before her lips moved automatically chanting one name in a voice that only her own ears could hear.

"Mas Kala ...."
