The After The Rain

The After The Rain
Broken Inside

Unlike people in general who entertain guests in the living room, Aunt Lisa drags Kinara into the living room which is actually only intended for family members only. Kinara could not resist and only occasionally looked back to check on Dahayu's state.

In the back, Dahayu tailed with a pouting face. To be honest she kind of disliked seeing her mother treat Kinara so excitedly. It was not that she was jealous or how, she was just afraid that Kinara would feel uneasy at her mother's excessive treatment.

Moreover, Kinara already knew the intricacies of his family and the problems they faced. Dahayu was worried that over time Kinara would think that her family was truly unworthy. Although Dahayu actually knows that with a brain that is already positive like Kinara, such thoughts are very unlikely to appear.

"Sit here, Aunt grab you a drink as a snack." The Aunty Lisa's decree was immediately taken by Kinara. She takes a sitting position on the long sofa facing the big television screen, while Dahayu only follows after her mother disappears behind the kitchen door.

"Emak-emang pinter really when looking for people's front face." Oceh Dahayu with a voice deliberately made loud. He did not care if his mother heard, even good, so that the woman knew that she was fed up with the duality possessed by her mother.

Beside her, Kinara was silent. He did not even dare to laugh at the ravings of Dahayu like he used to do. Because if the business is family, there is no longer a joke.

Shortly after, Aunt Lisa emerges from the kitchen while pushing a small, wheeled table. On the small table was neatly arranged various jars containing snacks, glass teapots filled with water and two glasses.

The table was then placed near the glass table in front of Kinara. One by one the jars were taken down from a small table and moved to a glass table. In just an instant, the various banquets were already beautiful before Kinara's eyes.

"You can eat it all." Said Aunt Lisa, again with a smile that did not fade.

"Thank you, Auntie." Kinara said with a polite smile.

Dahayu was still muttering without a sound next to her. Every now and then she saw the girl glancing cynically at Aunt Lisa who was already sitting on the single sofa on the left side of the sofa that she and Dahayu were sitting on.

"Where's college? Be safe? No problems, right?" ask Aunt Lisa.

Umya, the question will be thrown to Dahayu, because the girl is the only princess of the puppet. But in reality, the question was directed to Kinara who incidentally was someone else.

"Faith, Aunt." After replying, Kinara glanced back at Dahayu. Now, the girl seemed to be squeaking at her mother while chewing on the pea biscuits she had snatched from inside the jar that she tightly hugged.

"Thankful then." Said Aunt Lisa, sighing in relief. Then, the woman turned her attention to the princess only wayangnya who had previously escaped from sight. With a soft motherly voice, he said, "Please take care of Dahayu, yes. Aunty's afraid she's making trouble on campus." Although her gaze was clearly fixed on Dahayu, Kinara knew the sentence was aimed at her. So, Kinara nodded her head.

"I take care of him too." Grutu Dahayu while glancing at Kinara who was just an awkward smile responded to another sentence that came out of his mother's lips.

The conversation continues between Kinara and Aunt Lisa. While Dahayu decided to withdraw and was more interested in eating all the snacks available in front of her. Let the two humans chat as they please, after all Dahayu will not be involved in it.

Then, amidst the increasingly engrossed chatter, a man appeared from the direction of the stairs connecting with the second floor. The man in his late forties in a sweatshirt and trousers set his eyes on Dahayu for a few seconds, his face flat and his eyes cold. Then, as her gaze turned towards Kinara, a rising smile adorned her handsome face and the look in her eyes began to turn warm.

"Hello, Nara. We haven't seen you in a long time." His reply after standing before the three people who were simultaneously focusing on him.

"Hello, Om." Kinara greeted back with a smile.

"Can I join?" ask the man, Haris, to his wife, Lisa.

Kinara felt a clear awkwardness between the couple. But he tried to put himself as someone else who had no right to interfere with what was happening in this family. Anyway as long as they are being nice, Kirana will also behave the same way.

After getting permission, Haris then took a sitting position on the other single sofa on the right side, which made it automatically adjacent to Dahayu. Now, Kinara and Dahayu look like a pair of brothers who are waiting for judgment from their parents for making a mistake.

"What is your college?"

Kinara and Dahayu both turned their heads towards Haris to check to whom the question was addressed. And as it turned out, the man's gaze was fixed on Dahayu and Kinara assumed that the question was indeed addressed to the girl.

"Papa nanya is with you, Ayu."

When his name was called with a firm tone and seemed intimidating, then Dahayu turned his head again and finished his chewing before answering.

"Obviously, nothing special." The answer is then put the jar that is almost toilet then pour water into the glass and drink it. "Tumben Papa wants to know about my college." Further.

As Kinara already knew, Dahayu's relationship with his parents was not good. So when she heard Dahayu speak in such a stern tone to her father, Kinara was no longer surprised. Not that he justified what Dahayu did, he just felt he had no right to teach this Dahayu that because he was never really in the position of the girl.

"Papa spent a lot of money to pay for your college, so Papa at least needs to know if the money Papa spent is comparable to what you do on campus."

There was absolutely no hospitality within Haris' tone of voice. It made Dahayu snort miserably and glanced at Kinara as if she wanted to apologize for bringing the girl into such an unpleasant situation now.

"Nara, if this kid is doing something weird on campus, could you please tell Om or Auntie?"

Suddenly, Kinara was asked that question. He's not ready, of course. So the first time Kinara did was to face Dahayu before finally looking back at Haris and saying, "Dahayu never mess around, Om. He was serious about studying because it was indeed the major he was interested in."

Kinara was not lying to defend Dahayu. She knew Dahayu did love the same field as her. And he hoped that both of Dahayu's parents could at least understand that.

"He should be able to maintain an attitude."

Dahayu's ears really feel hot. He can't stand being here anymore because the atmosphere isn't good.

So after he let out a rough breath, Kinara pulled back to get up from her seat. The one being pulled was of course surprised, because his movements were so sudden and he was not given any cues.

Seeing Dahayu acting like that, Lisa and Haris just looked flat at her. As already memorized in the behavior of their daughters who actually decreased from them.

"Well, Nara has to go home. Tomorrow we have morning class." Dahayu said without looking at his mother or father.

Still without waiting for approval, Dahayu suddenly dragged Kinara to leave the living room. He didn't even let Kinara say goodbye.

Until their footsteps reached the living room, Dahayu still did not let go of her grasp in Kinara's hands. Now she looks like a mother dragging her daughter who hasn't been home for days.

Then when they finally reached the front door, then Dahayu released Kinara and pushed slowly the girl towards her car.

"Until home you have to take a shower." Dahayu said suddenly after forcing Kinara into her car.

"Why?" tanya Kinara sambi tilted her head from the window whose glass was lowered.

"So that you are polluted is the same terrible atmosphere that exists in this house." Dahayu grimaced after saying that. The fact that the atmosphere in his house was not good for anyone's mental health made him feel sad. Because he was even forced to stay inside this house because he had no other choice.

Kinara did not reply. He knew Dahayu was starting to get uncomfortable. So, Kinara raised her car glass and immediately stepped on the accelerator after a short goodbye to the girl.

Along the way home, Kinara could not take her mind off Dahayu. People may see Dahayu as a judes and arrogant figure. But in Kinara's eyes, all the attitudes that Dahayu showed was his way to defend himself from the inner wounds he had suffered so far.

Kinara fully knew, that the friend who looked tough on the outside, was in fact so fragile on the inside and she hoped to help Dahayu treat the fragility so as not to bring the girl into ruin.
