The After The Rain

The After The Rain
Sympathy

Dahayu had intended to tell Kinara about Layla's case which became more serious after they ate, but her intention was not carried out even until the last class was finished.

Aside from not getting the chance to open the chat because Kinara was always busy with the textbooks, Dahayu was also hesitant to tell Kinara knowing the girl would definitely stir herself thinking about Layla's fate, it was as if he was the one who was being hit by a disaster.

"Well, you're in a hurry not to go home?" ask Kinara after cleaning up her things.

While propping up his chin and his gaze did not shift away from Kinara, Dahayu replied, "No. Why?"

"I have an appointment to see Irfan, someone wants us to discuss. If you hurry, I'll ask Atha to help you come home." Kinara.

Hearing Irfan's name coming out of Kalea's lips, Dahayu practically straightened her body. "Irfan who's a medical boy?" tanyanya.

"Yes." Yeah."

"Can't you find him tomorrow?"

"Can't, I. I have a long-standing promise."

"Duh," Dahayu suddenly massaged her temple to make Kinara furrow her brow in confusion.

"Why, anyway?" ask Kinara when Dahayu does not speak anymore.

"No. It's okay." Dahayu. He was about to tell Kinara the reason for asking her not to go to the medical faculty building for fear that the girl would meet Layla there. But after thinking about it again, Dahayu paused the intention because if she told the truth, then Kinara would definitely want to come there more and more.

The Kinara sometimes likes to give too much sympathy to others, if you want to know.

"It's not clear to you, Ay!" Kinara hit Dahayu's arm a bit hard to the point of making the girl screech and glare at him.

"You wait for me in the parking lot, yeah. The car keys are still just like you, right?"

"Yes, still. But don't you stay long! I stayed long!"

"Yes, bring it."

Then Kinara moved from her seat. Ignoring the whispers around him that still lasted from morning until now when the afternoon was approaching. Actually he was quite curious about what they were talking about, but since Dahayu said they did not need to know, then Kinara decided to follow the words of her best friend.

Kinara's steps grew wider even without him noticing. The long corridor that was still crowded and passed by humans managed to pass smoothly without any obstacles at all.

Until finally, Kinara managed to set foot in the medical faculty building. The atmosphere here is certainly different from the faculty of Arts and Languages. The students at this faculty seemed more serious and did not have as much time to gossip as they did at his faculty.

"Nara!"

Kinara turned her head towards the source of the voice calling out her name. A few meters in front of him, Irfan stood up while waving his hand. Kinara returned the wave of the hand and immediately walked over to the man.

"Sorry has made you come all the way here. I only have time now and I can only be here." Irfan said as Kinara arrived before him.

"Casual, Brother. I understand that Irfan is busy." Kinara replied with a sincere smile.

"Well, we talked in the cafeteria, huh? All I treat you to eat, it's been a long time we don't eat together."

"Can."

...****************...

Finishing his business with Irfan, Kinara rushed back to his faculty building because he did not want to make Dahayu wait any longer.

To shorten the time, Kinara chose a shortcut through the back gate. Earlier, when he came here, he deliberately did not pass this shortcut because he knew that such hours were usually many students hanging out in the back garden. And now it was quite late afternoon, Kinara was sure the back garden was deserted.

Initially Kinara's steps swung wide. Occasionally he hummed in order to drive away the boredom of having to travel a considerable distance to return to his faculty alone.

However, his steps suddenly narrowed and gradually came to a halt when he vaguely saw someone sitting alone in the gazebo behind the medical faculty. Although now the person was bowing his head deeply so that Kinara could not see his face, but from the posture and manner of dressing, Kinara was sure that the person was Layla.

After repeatedly making sure, Kinara finally decided to approach the person.

"Laila?" call Kinara hesitating. He was afraid he was wrong because he was too confident.

But it turns out his guess was right. The girl who was bowing lethargic was Layla.

"Hey, are you crying?" Kinara moved closer to Layla when she realized the girl had already shed tears.

Now that they were at close range, Kinara could smell the obvious rancid aroma of Layla's clothes. The smell was so stinging that it forced him to hold his breath.

"Why you?" tanya Kinara tried to fight the smell of rancid that increasingly felt pierced when the wind blew on their bodies.

Layla did not answer. The girl again hid her face and began to cry even harder. Kinara panicked, of course. He had never faced such a situation before.

So all Kinara could do was pat Layla's shoulder gently to help the girl ease her cries.

Minutes pass. Kinara had to fight against the smell of carnation that still did not want to disappear while trying to calm Layla whose crying still did not subside.

"It's okay, get out of there all." He continued to pat Layla on the back.

Then, as Kinara felt the tremors on the girl's back begin to subside, Kinara pulled her hand from there. Just when Layla raised her face and their gazes met for quite a long time.

This is the first time Kinara has been this close to Layla. Listening to his cries and even patting his back like a friend who will always be there.

A little tucked away in a bad feeling as Kinara read Layla's countenance that seemed to start feeling embarrassed for crying in front of her, but they were not that close to sharing tears.

However, Kinara removed the unpleasant feeling from his mind and was determined to position himself as a human being who was sympathetic to other humans.

In a soft and gentle voice, Kinara began to invite Layla to talk after making sure the girl's cries were not as bad as before.

"We are not that familiar to share stories with each other, but if there is something you can share, I am ready to listen."

That afternoon, as the sun began to move back to the contest, Kinara completely forgot her promise to meet Dahayu immediately in the parking lot because she was busy listening to the sad story that Layla shared.

A story that managed to cut Kinara's heart deeper than he thought, and ended up making him question about the affection and trust he had been sacrificing to the people around him.

Is...is there really nothing to be trusted in this world but God and himself?
