The After The Rain

The After The Rain
Offering Help

"Fuck!"

"Bye!" Kinara replied to Lestari's hand before stepping out of the courtyard of the little girl's house.

Along her steps back towards home, Kinara was unceasingly smiling. Recalling the moment he had passed with Lestari and her mother.

From the conversation that had been going on between them for almost two hours, Kinara learned so many lessons.

Sinta, Lestari's mother, told me that she was pregnant with Lestari when she was nineteen. Her husband who was then forced to accept their arranged marriage was reluctant to stay at home and preferred to stay at her boyfriend's house, so Sinta was forced to undergo her pregnancy alone. He was an orphan, both his parents died when he was in junior high school and he had no relatives.

Until the time when she had to give birth, Sinta passed the moment alone. The family of the husband does not want to go to the kitchen anymore because apparently the husband has impregnated his girlfriend and the family decided to marry them, while Sinta and her husband are still legally bound by marriage. Since that marriage, Sinta completely broke off relations with her husband and family, recklessly bringing Lestari to Jakarta even without supplies. Just desperate capital, doing any work to support himself and the little baby Lestari.

For many years Sinta and Lestari lived alone in Jakarta, with the status of Sinta who is still a wife who has never been blessed. Sinta had no idea about the news of her husband at all, and she was always confused to explain to Lestari where the father was.

Lucky (whether in fact it can be said to be lucky or not) Lestari never fuss about asking the whereabouts of her father. Even when she only told Lestari that her father had gone far away, her son never asked more. It was as if the little girl understood that the relationship between her father and mother was not good and she did not want to make the mother sad if she kept asking questions.

The story that Sinta told was really sad, but the woman never stopped smiling throughout the story. As if, he had long since made peace with all the wounds and sufferings that God has given to him and Lestari. It was as if he knew, that God had prepared something good behind the trials he had received.

From the life story of Sinta and Lestari, Kinara learned to accept every decree and provision that God had laid down for her life, she said, while trying to do his best and incessantly chanting prayers with the belief that there are always good things that will happen after the test he received.

Kinara was lucky to meet Sinta and Lestari. Like how lucky he was to meet other people who taught him a lot about life.

Only until his steps in the courtyard, Kinara was forced to stop swinging her legs when her eyes caught a familiar car parked in her yard. It was Atha's car.

After being silent for quite a while, Kinara continued her steps. He stopped again in front of the door, peering out from the opening. On the sofa, there were Atha and Dahayu sitting next to each other. On the table was served drinks and snacks, but there was no Mama there, no where the woman went.

Then, even though his feelings returned to nothing when remembering yesterday's events, Kinara still stepped foot into the house.

Atha and Dahayu who were talking about something practically stopped and simultaneously turned towards him.

It didn't take long, Dahayu immediately got up from her seat and ran over. The girl pulled her body, hugging her tightly like this was their meeting after a long time.

Kinara was silent on the spot. Letting Dahayu's embrace grow tighter while her gaze was fixed on Atha who was still sitting in her place. The expression that appeared on the young man's face was really hard to guess.

"Lo's okay?" dahayu asked right after she let go of the hug.

"What?" Kinara asked back.

"Related ... " Dahayu hung up her sentence. Then he shook his head, pulled Kinara's arm and invited her to sit on the sofa.

Kinara did not answer. He let out a long sigh, glancing at Atha who was sitting on his right as if he was judging the man for having already told Dahayu about his problem. Then, Kinara turned back to Dahayu and looked at him fixedly.

"No need to help anything, just *support*me mentally, that's enough."

Hearing the actual answer he had predicted it certainly could not make Dahayu satisfied. The girl then pulled out the phone from inside the bag that was stuck on another sofa. In an instant, the look on her face turned serious and Kinara could see the girl's lips muttering silently as her fingers danced on the keypad.

Not until a minute later, Dahayu again kept his phone on the table and then fully devoted his attention to Kinara.

"Well?" ask Kinara who is suspicious that Dahayu has just done something related to her.

"Seek Haris to find a job for bokap lo." Dahayu answered quickly, as if not knowing that the answer would only make Kinara tick. He thought, there's no harm in trying. About Kinara to accept or refuse his help, it's a later matter. The important thing is that he has done his best as a friend.

And as he had expected, Kinara clearly rejected the idea. The girl shook her head slowly, grabbed Dahayu's cell phone and directly thrust the object to the owner.

"Say the same as Haris, papa I've got a job." His request to Dahayu.

But the girl fell silent and threw an unsteady look at him.

"hunts." Kinara.

Instead of obeying Kinara's wishes, Dahayu instead grabbed and hid her phone behind the body. Then Dahayu folded both hands in front of her chest and looked at Kinara seriously.

"This once," he said. "It's enough to get help from me."

"Ay," call Kinara slowly. The sound of Dahayu's hand, was carried on her lap and she patted the soft back of the delicate hand. "Your presence beside me is a help. So, you do not need to offer any more help because your presence is enough ."

"But-"

"Don't cut it, I'm not done yet." Kinara pouted, but a second later, she developed a smile. "You and Atha are the most meaningful help that God has given me. If there were no one, I might not be able to stand this straight now. So, please don't think too complicated to help me. Cuz you've done the best for me and that's enough."

Not only Dahayu who was made speechless by the words of Kinara. Atha, who had just been silent watching the obolan pair of friends was increasingly made to clench his lips tight. Her chest felt tight as she realized how kind Kinara was, and she would probably break that heart due to a mistake she had accidentally made.

"Enough you guys*stay*next to me, that's enough." Kinara said as she grabbed Atha's hand. Now, in his grasp were two hands belonging to the two people he loved the most after Papa and Mama.
