The After The Rain

The After The Rain
He's Coming

After a full day struggling with luggage that must be dismantled and arranged, Kinara was finally able to sit his butt on the living room sofa. Kinara leaned her back, closed her eyes for a moment while adjusting her gnawing breath.

The sweat began to drip soaking into the T-shirt Kinara was wearing. Makes her feel sticky and uncomfortable. In this rented house there is no AC, there are only two fan units, one installed in his room and another installed in the room Mama and Papa.

"Duh, it's really hot." he complained as he shook his hands in front of his face, trying to fan himself manually.

When Kinara opened her eyes and straightened her back, her attention was stolen as the phone that had occupied her pants pocket vibrated several times, signaling an incoming call.

With a flippant move, Kinara reached into her pants pocket and took the thing out from there. His eyes that were originally sweet and uninspired immediately opened wide. His back was upright, his heart was racing and his head began to twist the scenes as his eyes discovered that Atha's name was on the screen.

After pounding a few times to relieve a throat that suddenly felt dry for no reason, Kinara shifted the green log and stuck the phone to the ear.

"Nara, where are you?!"

Just as Kinara opened her mouth to speak, Atha had already interjected in a high voice. Nara frowned. Feeling, he was making no mistake. But why was Atha talking to him using the tone of an angry person?

"Did?!"

"At home." Answer potluck. Because he's at home, right?

"What's at home?! I'm in front of your house, but your house is empty! All the lights are off and in front of the fence there is a banner that says... ah, do not know what the writing is! Where are you? Don't joke with me!"

Instantly, Kinara felt the oxygen supply around him thinning. He had trouble breathing until his chest slowly felt tight. The spirit that burned him was instantly extinguished, replaced with a thousand worries that should not come anytime soon.

Atha still continued to babble across there, while Kinara began to be unable to control herself. There were many answers he could choose from, but none of them managed to get out and just stuck in his throat, making his throat ache as if a large stone was clogging there.

Lord... Kinara what to answer?

He is beating in the heart. Hope God wants to be a little kind by sending instructions for him to face the situation this time.

But apparently, God is not within reach to take care of his problems. Kinara was not angry. He knows God is good. But this time it might not be his turn. His people are many, God's work is many. So as an ordinary man who still had many sins, Kinara did not want to become ignorant by forcing God to put his interests first.

After a great discussion with himself. After drawing and exhaling many times, Kinara said, "I have not stayed there, Atha. Our family moved."

"Where to move? Why didn't you tell me? Are you deliberately avoiding me? Wh why? Why do you believe in gini, Nara? I was wrong about what you were up to-"

Instantaneous silence. Atha's voice that had echoed like hundreds of bullets that flocked suddenly vanished like swallowed by the earth. Even the sound of the male breath was completely inaudible to the dim-witted Kinara.

"Papa's broke." Deuteronomy with a tone of voice that is too sad. Kinara did not want to be like that. He did not want to look weak in front of Atha. But, the tightness in his chest really couldn't be taken for granted. "We lost everything. There's really nothing left, Atha."

Kinara thought, he would get a sentence of consolation from Atha. A sentence as simple as all would be fine that he had heard dozens of times in this day. The simple words that Kinara knew would not change much about what had happened, but were able to convince her. Kinara did not need a grandiose, with just that kind of sentence alone, he could already feel calm.

But apparently, he again had to swallow a bitter pill when the phone connection was cut off. Atha disconnects the phone, without a word uttering from her lips.

The Maghrib, along with the reverberating Adhan, Kinara could only smile at the screen of his phone that was extinguished.

The man couldn't stay by her side now. And even more painful than that was the fact that Kinara could do nothing. He couldn't force anyone to stay.

...****************...

At half-eight in the evening, Kinara sat herself on the front porch. It was very hot inside and he couldn't stand it. So after finishing dinner and helping Mama wash the dirty dishes, Kinara covered forward to get some fresh air.

Kinara's gaze was thrown far ahead. On a stretch of tall trees planted along the way. If you want to compare, the area where he lives now is much more beautiful than the elite housing area he once inhabited. Not many residents have motorized vehicles so the air quality here is still quite good. It's comfortable here. Only, Kinara was still not used to the heat that continued to torment him.

The breeze blew away the children of Kinara's hair that had started to lengthen. Making it dangle to cover part of his face plain without skincare. Kinara is not a typical woman who likes to dress up. So both then and now, not much will change into his appearance.

"Nara, you want a snack?!" Mom screamed from inside the house. His voice still sounded energetic to the size of someone who had spent the entire day lifting it.

"No, Nara is full!" Nara shouted back. Somewhat surprised to find himself still able to make such a loud sound when in fact he was very tired.

Then there is no more confirmation from Mama. Kinara did not want the conversation to last much longer. Because after all, they now have neighbors who are close to home. Kinara did not want to be used as a talk because it made a scene at night.

Kinara was about to close his eyes to enjoy the breeze even more deeply when his cloud caught the sound of the motor he was very familiar with. The intention to close the eyes was clearly undo. The back that was originally leaning on the chair was instantly upright. His eyes became alert, watching the streets along with the sound of the motor that was increasingly heard clearly.

Then, Kinara did not know what to react when now not only the sound of the motor appeared, but also the motor along with the owner who moved closer to his home.

"Atha?" he murmured in a very slow voice.
