The After The Rain

The After The Rain
Andanu and Reason Care

"Now," Andanu held out a light blue towel towards Kinara.

The girl who was originally sitting quietly on the sofa raised her head, looked at her for a while before finally reaching for the towel in a weak motion.

"The bathroom's over there, I'm ready for some warm water for you to take a shower." Andanu said as he pointed towards the bathroom in his house.

Yes, he finally brought Kinara to his house. Forced, because the girl still continued to cry and could not answer at all when she asked where the girl's house was.

It was not without reason why Andanu chose to bring Kinara to his house. He deliberately did that because he thought this was the safest place for Kinara given his unstable physical and mental condition.

"Do you want me to drive?" asked Andanu when Kinara did not get up from her seat. The girl just stared at the direction that Andanu pointed at for quite a long time.

"Himself." Kinara said slowly. He then walked straight to the bathroom while tightly hugging the towel previously given by Andanu.

"Let's change clothes I put in plastic, keep me cantelin at the door." Andanu said, half screaming because now Kinara has almost reached the bathroom door which is a meter away from the living room.

Kinara did not reply, Andanu saw that the girl just continued to move until finally the small body disappeared behind the bathroom door.

Shortly afterwards, a woman in her late twenties emerged from another room carrying a set of change of clothes and immediately stretched it out toward Andanu.

"It's kind of great, but it's okay than nothing." The woman said, Astari, Andanu's sister.

"Thank you, Ma'am." Andanu grabbed the clothes from Astari's hand and immediately put them into the bag of crackles that he had prepared.

Then, Andanu walked to the bathroom and hung the bag directly on the doorknob, as he had said before. After that, Andanu returned to the living room to meet Astari.

"Where is the story how can he be like you?" todong Astari when Andanu just landed his butt next to him. He pelted his sister with a full-fledged look.

"Meet in front of the faculty gate. There's another girl crying alone under the rain, when I'm quiet." Clearly Andanu, trying to ignore the probing gaze that Astari was still waving towards him.

"really so? Isn't it because you made him cry?"

Andanu sighed softly, then stared fixedly at Astari. "During my life, have you ever seen me make someone cry?" tanyakanya. "I'm not that close until I have a reason to make him cry." He then drew a glance from the older brother and threw him in the other direction.

"If you're not close, why did you bring him here? You mean, you can take him home, or send him to a friend who is closer to him. Why did you bring it home?"

"Because I feel guilty."

Astari raised her eyebrows. "Well guilty of what?" tanyanya.

Andanu still refused to look at him. Now the young man is even seen staring at the bathroom door that is still tightly closed.

"Did you remember when I told you about a college friend who was found alone in the hotel where I stayed while in Jogja?" asked Andanu, still with a straight look towards the bathroom.

Because he will not be able to forget when Andanu barged into his room right after the young man had just returned from his vacation in Jogja, just to ask her opinion on what to do if she catches her friend's boyfriend cheating on her.

That night, Astari simply told Andanu not to interfere because it was none of her business. Especially after Andanu said that the friend he meant was just a friend of the department who never even greeted him.

"The friend I mean it's him." Andanu said, turning to Astari. "And I think he just found out about his girlfriend's affair."

"Keep, why should you feel guilty?" astari asked, still not understanding why her sister should feel guilty.

"Yes, I don't know. Suddenly I feel guilty. Or maybe... This is more toward pity?" ask Andanu, either to himself or to Astari.

"The problem, which was the affair was also my major friend, Ma'am. And she's the same girl as her boyfriend's infidelity is a close friend. It was so close, everywhere. And..." Andanu hung up his sentence, deliberately giving a pause to check Astari's facial expression so that she knew whether she could continue with her sentence or not.

But because Andanu hung his sentence too long, Astari finally continued it.

"And you want the same thing that happened to Mbak first?"

Andanu. Bad memories of past events that befell her sister made her heart again feel pained.

"Four years, Nu. Time for you to forget what's passed." Astari said, impressed lightly, when in fact, he was the hardest to forget the incident.

Four years ago, she was almost married to the lover she loved so much. However, the marriage was dashed when she discovered her lover was having an affair with her best friend, whom she already considered to be her own sibling. Though the invitation has been spread and the happy day is just counting the days.

Because of the incident, his father who did have a history of heart disease suddenly relapsed and finally could not be saved. On the day Astari was supposed to get married, her father died, following her mother who had already died when she and Andanu were young.

"Four years will not be enough to forget what the jerk did to Ma'am. Because he's also not Dad so dead?"

"Father died because it was time, Nu. Don't constantly blame others for the destiny God has laid out for our lives."

"Bak said that because actually Mbak still love the same man, right?"

"Nu," prevent Astari, so that Andanu does not talk more that no-no. He does not want Andanu, who is now the only family he has to live with a grudge that covers his heart. Astari wants Andanu to immediately make peace with the situation and stop blaming what God has outlined for their lives.

"What happened, it should have. Get your temper, Nu. Don't live with a vengeful heart." Astari grabbed Andanu's hand, then placed the young man's palm on his own chest.

"Here must be clean, Nu. There can't be a grudge if you want to live a quiet life."

Andanu tried to permeate Astari's words while feeling her own heartbeat. But, no matter how much he tried, Andanu still could not remove his hatred towards the man from his heart just like that.

Bitter and soreness so felt, until Andanu dared to swear to beat the man if they were given the opportunity to meet each other again someday.
