"Jumping from here won't make you die right away."
An unfamiliar voice came greeting Kinara making her reflex to open her eyes and turn her head.
Beside him stood a lacquered-haired man who was probably about 175 inches tall. The man's gaze seemed to glare far ahead, at something that Kinara himself did not know what.
Perhaps on the street lights across that shone reluctantly. Maybe in the ranks of tall buildings that still seem to shine bright even though there is no more activity in it. Or perhaps, the man simply stared at the void, at nothingness too difficult to tell.
Kinara was still silent, instead cool to notice the man's nose which was similar to a slide. Is beautiful. That one word automatically appeared in his head as a form of appreciation. It feels, the nose is very fitting to be on his face, complementing other features that are no less charming.
"Yesterday, I saw in the news there was a high school student who tried to jump from here, but the edges were just broken bones and he had to be embarrassed because his name appeared in various media. Although his identity is disguised, but the people closest to him must still know if it's him?"
Kinara was still silent, too confused to respond to the random talk from the man. News about high school students who attempted suicide on this pedestrian bridge some time ago did arrive also in Kinara's ears. But he could not comment because he never knew what was really behind the student's reckless actions.
"After all, if you're still desperate to jump from here, you will definitely feel pain for some time while hearing people talking together like a bee humming that will make your head more dizzy and you hope your life is taken away."
The man paused for a while, only to return to speaking after slowly inhaling and exhaling.
"Actually you can die immediately, but that's also if there is an apes car that happens to pass and immediately grinds your body after you jump from here."
There was a long enough break afterwards. The man let out a long sigh before turning his head, at a time when Kinara was completely unprepared to look at his sky-dark bead at half-three in the morning.
At that instant, Kinara felt her body freeze, her tongue felt twisted and Kinara thought she had lost the ability to process words as the dark bead looked at her deeply, as if dragging her to sink into it. Get lost. Then missing.
"Don't, yeah." The man said slowly. Her voice that resembled exquisite harmony in an instant managed to gain a place of its own in Kinara's heart. Though the voice was only the first time he had heard it dozens of seconds ago and he did not even know what the name of the man beside him was.
"Don't die in such a sad way. More than that, don't trouble anyone else on the last day you live in the world." Said the man again. Then, he turned his gaze again, this time fixed on the streets below that were completely deserted.
Silence was left in power for minutes afterwards. Both Kinara and the foreign man beside her were both reluctant to open their voices. Kinara was again preoccupied with the commotion inside her head, which now increased one more task of her brain to digest what the man beside her said.
For some number of minutes since they were silent, when Kinara finally managed to restore the function of her organs as before, Kinara let out a long sigh. He took his eyes off the man by his side, anchoring them to a pair of brown sneakers whose color had begun to fade.
I swear, Kinara didn't come here to kill herself. No matter what she is, no matter what kind of head she has, she never thinks of dying sooner (especially with her own efforts).
Kinara did not know if that life after death really existed, but he did not think about it at all. It wasn't life that Kinara thought of when she talked about death, but rather other fears related to both her parents.
He only thought....if he died first, especially in their circumstances that are still like this, what about Papa and Mama? How can two people who have risked their lives for themselves survive in this world, when the universe is fond of joking with them? Moreover, the universe these days had extreme signs, so Kinara did not have the heart to abandon them in such a miserable way as suicide.
"I have no interest in dying fast." Kinara said slowly. Very slowly, until he himself was not sure whether his words had just reached the ears of the man or not.
And Kinara knew her voice could be heard as the man beside her chuckled softly. Kinara turned her head again, only to find the man smiling brightly at the ends of his own shoes. Not knowing what was inside her head at the moment, which was obvious when her lips went back straight and she turned her head, Kinara felt a tightness inside her chest that came out of nowhere.
It was as if he was telling himself that the owner was wounded and in need of help, and he might be someone who would be kind enough to offer help.
"I don't know what your problem is, but I'm grateful that you really don't intend to jump in from here." After saying so, the man straightened up, put both hands into the pocket of brown pants that look harmonious combined with plain white T-shirts and navy short-sleeved shirts that all buttons left open. His eyes returned straight ahead.
"I also don't know what the weight of Mas's problem is, but I hope Mas didn't come here with suicidal thoughts and was forced to abandon his intention of meeting me." Either got the courage from where so Kinara could say that.
The man beside her did not reply, but Kinara could see the corners of the man's lips lifted up, forming a smile filled with deep pain.
"What class are you in?" asked the man suddenly after being silent for quite a long time.
"I'm in college, fourth semester." Kinara answered her question, then followed by throwing a glance forward.
"You're still like a kid in the face."
If it was a compliment, shouldn't Kinara be happy? Doesn't that mean he's said to be young?
But instead of feeling happy, Kinara felt annoyed instead. He felt this man beside him was just trying to mock him.
"Where is the boy who dares to wander alone at half-three in the morning." Kinara said a little sewot.
Kinara again heard the man beside her chuckle. Curious about the expression the man was showing, Kinara turned her head, only to be made silent when she found the man smiling at her. The smile this time seemed more sincere than before.
And ... dare to swear, only this time he saw a smile as beautiful as this. As if just by looking at it, it was able to make Kirana's mood many times better.
"Second."
"Huh?" kinara asked in confusion as the man only mentioned one word without any frills behind him.
"My name is Sekala." Obviously the man reached out his hand.
Kinara looked at Sekala's helping hand for a full six seconds, before finally grabbing the hand and shaking it slowly.
The warmth instantly spread throughout Kinara's body as their palms touched each other. And out of nowhere it came from, Kinara felt something had made her feel at ease.
"Cinara. My name is Kinara." Kinara reintroduced herself while releasing their hand link.
He nodded his head as he pulled his hand back and put it back in his pocket.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Kinara" said Sekala. "But I hope we don't see each other again in places like this." And then, without saying anything else, I went from there. Leaving Kinara alone without saying goodbye because inside her head, she had had the confidence that they would soon meet again, in a better place and atmosphere.
