The After The Rain

The After The Rain
Back to Campus

Time went a little slower after Kinara's move to a new home. Despite having to bother to get used to the new living conditions, in the end Kinara can still do it until it is today. The day she had to return to college and live out her life as a fourth-semester student.

Kinara walked out of the room while slightly tidying up the appearance. Today, he only wears a pair of jeans and a white T-shirt. The bag he was wearing was not from a famous brand, but just a white goodie bag with screen printing inscribed with his name. Goodie bag that he ordered at the place of one of the friends who had a screen printing business late last semester.

"Morning, baby." Sapa Mama who just emerged from the kitchen while carrying a plate of fried rice with half-cooked eggplant and a glass of white milk. "Breakfast first. In the living room, yeah."

Kinara just nodded. Letting Mama walk first towards the living room and she tailed behind.

In the living room, Papa was already sitting on the sofa with the same plate of fried rice in his hand. Her mouth seemed full while her eyes stared unprepared at the figure of Kinara that suddenly appeared from the direction of her room.

Kinara was also no less surprised to find Papa's neat appearance. The man was wearing a white striped shirt, black material pants and also pantofel shoes. Short black hair that already has some strands that start to whiten it neatly arranged with the help of hair oil. From Papa's body also emanates a perfume that is usually only worn by Papa when going on a trip.

"What's so neat? Where are you going?" tanya Kinara after sitting next to Papa and received the fried rice spread by Mama.

"Work." Papa said after swallowing his food.

"Work?" Kinara looked at Papa in disbelief. The spoon in front of the mouth was lowered again.

Papa nodded then fed another spoonful of fried rice into his mouth. "There's one friend who offered me a job." Continue with your mouth full.

What job? Kinara wanted to ask that, but stopped for fear that it would dampen the spirit of Papa who looked so hot at this time.

Eventually, the conversation did not continue and Kinara began to enjoy Mama's fried rice in silence. I went back to the kitchen, doing nothing else.

Minutes later, Kinara had finished her meal. When he was about to stand up to save the dirty dishes to the sink in the kitchen, Papa stopped him.

With his burly hands, Papa took over the dirty plate from Kinara's hands and thrust out the milk instead. "Drink milk. Let Papa take the plates to the kitchen."

Kinara according to him. He took the glass of milk and sipped it quickly. After the toilet, Kinara resigned himself as Papa snatched the empty glass from his hand and immediately sauntered away from his presence.

"What time are you in class?" ask Papa before reaching the kitchen door. He turned around, waiting for Kinara to give an answer.

"Hour 9." Answer Kinara.

Papa glanced at the clock on his left wrist for a while then looked back at Kinara. "If it's so bad right now, he's afraid of getting stuck. Your car was Papa hotin earlier, so just walk away." Then Papa continued his steps.

Kinara wants to catch up with Papa so she can say goodbye to Mama too. But in the end Kinara did not do that because he caught the signal that Papa did not want the scene of leaving for campus to turn into full of crying and drama.

Whether by chance or not, the girl appeared from behind the door complete with a red-and-white uniform and a dangling veil covering her chest. Their gazes met for a few moments before the mother of the daughter came up from behind the door and immediately took her son's hand.

Kinara watched them walk through the grounds of the house until they finally set foot on the road to the big road ahead. Before continuing, Kinara had a chance to meet with the mother of the daughter. Unexpectedly, the mother of the child extended a friendly smile that instantly warmed her heart. Because of the many neighbors around his house, only the mother of the girl ever smiled kindly to him and did not throw a julid gaze like the other mothers around him lay.

After the girl and her mother disappeared from view, Kinara got into the car and immediately drove her car away from the area where she lived.

...****************...

Arriving at the campus, Kinara parked his car at the end position near the gate to make it easier to get out later in the afternoon.

After making sure no one was left in the car, Kinara walked over quickly. Passing through the crowd of students from other majors then walked through the deserted passageway to head to his first classroom.

Kinara majored in English Literature because of her interest in learning a foreign language. Papa and Mama also did not forbid him to take the majors he wanted. But now when her family's economic condition worsened, Kinara became somewhat regretful about taking this major because she was worried that she would have trouble finding work after graduation.

A few minutes down the hall, Kinara finally arrived at the classroom. Before entering, he had time to bend his head into the class to check whether there were other students who had come or had not remembered now only nine hours less fifteen minutes.

It turned out to be true Kinara's guess, the classroom was still quiet. There are only empty benches that seem a little dusty because they have not been used for a long time because of college holidays.

Not wanting to struggle with the dust that would make him sneeze, Kinara decided to sit in front of the class while waiting for other friends to come.

Kinara took a sitting position at a table under a shady ashem tree. Usually Atha would always warn himself not to sit there for fear of trance, but Kinara remained reckless because after all nothing had happened to her and her friends who liked to sit there.

After finding a comfortable position, Kinara took out the laptop from her goodie bag and in an instant she had focused on diving in rows of sentences that appeared on the screen. It no longer cared about what was going on around him because he really devoted all his attention to his laptop screen.

Till...

"Nara!" a female voice interrupted Kinara's activities, making her take her eyes off and momentarily withdraw from her activities.

There, a few meters in front of him, stood a shoulder-length brunette girl smiling and waving at him. The girl's appearance was still the same as usual. Looks graceful with light blue flower dress below the knees and plain white sneaker shoes. His brown hair was left beautifully seared with a rabbit-shaped hairpin as a decorator.

Nara smiled back and waved at the girl. His one free-moving hand closed the laptop back because he knew, after the girl's presence, he would no longer be able to focus on what he was working on before.
