The After The Rain

The After The Rain
Small Reasons to Survive

As Kinara had predicted earlier, it was raining right when he set foot at the busway stop. That afternoon, the busway stop looked quiet and there was only one of them there.

Such a sight is actually ordinary. Because not many people like to use public transportation around the campus. In addition to the students who study at the campus, most of them come from rich families, they also do not really like to use public transportation, especially the busway because there are often delays and space that is not much so that there is often a rush.

Kinara took a sitting position at the bench stop. His eyes glared far ahead, at the speck of rain that fell so heavily as if without a burden.

Pulling and exhaling a few times became the only thing Kinara did for the later minutes. The smell of rain that had mixed with the smoke of the vehicle led Kinara to close his eyes, sharpen his sense of hearing in order to absorb the sound of rain drops similar to music.

Then, as minor tones began to be created in the head, Kinara's withers caught the sound of the roar of approaching vehicles. The series of tones that had been present unintentionally collapsed the moment he opened his eyes.

Not long after the moment he reopened his net, the long-awaited busway arrived before him. Unwilling to make the driver and passengers who were on the busway wait for a long time, Kinara immediately got up from his seat and slightly ran into the busway because the rain was still falling quite heavily.

Arriving at the busway, Kinara exchanged smiles with the officers guarding the door. The officer this time was female, hooded and always showing off a warm smile to the passengers.

Luckily this afternoon the busway is not full. There were only five passengers and Kinara then took a seat in the rear row near the left window.

The busway drove at moderate speed, letting Kinara glide out the window, looking at everything she encountered along the way.

The rain was still falling with the same intensity, but the sky above them was no longer deep gray. A cloud of cloud began to move away as more rain fell, replaced by a collection of white clouds that made the atmosphere no longer gloomy.

Then, Kinara's attention was stolen as her neutrals captured an unusual sight. Amidst the rain that was still falling heavily, Kinara saw a beautiful mix of colors above the sky there. Right, Kinara saw a rainbow.

The sight of course managed to make the corners of Kinara's lips pulled upwards. With a quick movement he took the phone out of the bag and immediately immortalized the moment for quite a long time.

Afterwards, Kinara looked at the results of his shots for tens of seconds. Just to find one more thing about life. That we do not need to wait until the rain subsides to be able to see the rainbow that God promised to say hello. Just like how we do not need to wait for the storm of life that is being hit to be able to carve a happy smile. Isn't it the least, there are still things left to be grateful for? Like today when he was still given the opportunity to breathe and try his luck chasing a job at the cafe he loved, for example?

Armed with one more lesson, Kinara whispered something to herself: Your life will be fine, Nara. As long as you don't decide to stop halfway, and as long as you believe that God will always present a rainbow in the rain.

...****************...

Arriving at home, Kinara was treated to a look of wonder by Mama. The woman was seen bending her head out the door, drowning in search of something.

"What nyari mom?" asked Kinara after she finished shaking off the remaining rainwater left in the umbrella she received from the busway employee she was comfortable with earlier.

It was still raining when the busway reached a stop near Kinara's house. At first he was thinking of breaking through the rain and running towards the house which is still about 500 meters away from the busway stop where he descended. But who would have thought that the beautiful busway officer he was smiling at was even thrusting an umbrella at him? Again, there were so many things that Kinara was grateful for today.

"Car." Answer Mama. The woman then nailed her gaze to Kinara who was standing looming before her. "Where's your car going?" continued.

"Worn with Ayu." Kinara replied casually. After folding the umbrella, Kinara walked inside the house. Breaking through the little body of Mama standing in the middle of the door.

"The car exploded, so Nara told him to use Nara's car. Later Nara ran out of other places first, so can not be with him." Nara clearly. He then took the glass from the dish rack and directly poured water from inside the teapot. In a matter of seconds, the water was already made.

Mama mangosteen heard the narration of Kinara. Then, as one question came to mind, Mama started looking at Kinara seriously.

"Look doesn't know about us yet, does he?" mama asked, with a tone that seemed super careful.

Kinara shook her head slowly. "There's not a good time to tell. Lagian Nara does not want to make Ayu splash."

Mama could only nod her head. After all, he really can't do anything about it. About Kinara want to tell his friends about their condition which is not his business at all.

"Yes, Ma. Nara cleaned up first, yeah." Pamit Nara's.

"Yes. Mama's gonna have dinner too."

Then Kinara passed towards her room. Arriving at the room, Kinara put the bag on the study table and sat down on the chair. He pulled out the phone from the bag and immediately searched for Dahayu's number. As she promised the girl, Kinara would call when she got home.

While waiting for the phone to connect, Kinara turned the chair to face the window. From that window, Kinara looked back at the neighbor's house with a little girl the other day. Unfortunately, this afternoon the little girl was not there. The door of the house was tightly closed and the curtains covering the windows did not provide the slightest gap for anyone to be able to peek into it.

A few seconds later, the phone is connected. Dahayu's voice greeted from across. Kinara practically smiled. The voice of Dahayu is indeed similar to the source of springs in the middle of a barren desert that managed to drive away his thirst.

"Lo just arrived?"

"Yes. Just sat down."

"What's the hell's coming home? Rainy, right?"

"Busway rail. Not surprised, because the busway officer was very good to give an umbrella to me."

"Waaah, really? This must be because you are a good person, so the officer also be good. Try if I go up, it's got to be here."

Kinara chuckled when she heard Dahayu's complaint. He knew the girl was just trying to praise him, but the way Dahayu delivered the compliment really made his stomach tickle.

Their conversation continues. Various things ranging from trivial to serious discussions they talk about via telephone. Kinara is not a typical person who likes to talk a lot, but with Dahayu, Kinara can talk about anything. Even things that no one else has ever thought of. Who first created the language, for example.

With the people who made her comfortable, Kinara was free to be herself without fear of being ostracized.
