The After The Rain

The After The Rain
Rukiah

The journey home was always faster than when they left. Just like today, when Atha's car knew it had stopped in Kinara's yard, but they still wanted to be together.

Their hand links did not come off. Even when Kinara's eyes caught Papa's movements from the moment the man got up from the chair and now walked quickly towards Atha's car, Kinara was still reluctant to let Atha's hand off his grasp. It was as if that hand was the handle of his life. As if if the handle were to slip off for just a moment, Kinara would find her life in shambles.

The car window was tapped slowly, Papa looked down to peek at the situation in the car, making Kinara and Atha look at each other for a while before finally chuckling together.

Papa's behavior is always there. Although Atha had sworn on behalf of his dead mother that he would not hurt Kinara, but as a good father, Papa still continued to instill suspicion.

But Atha was not offended at all. He was happy because his future in-laws were always trying to keep the princess, which means, Atha has anchored his heart to the right person.

As Papa continued to knock on the windowpanes and over time the rhythm of the knocking accelerated and began to become brutal, Atha immediately lowered the glass, only to let out a grinning smile that made Papa glare at him.

"Where'd you take my son?" asked Papa with a face made pretentious, but it made Atha more laugh.

"Sorry, Om. His son feels the same about me." Atha said while grinning. He nudged Kinara's arm, making the girl glance at him with a julid look, but a second later smiled.

"Oh, start naughty you, huh?" papa's Nagging.

Kinara looked over and laughed softly. Then, he released his hand link with Atha and started moving opening the door. But before the door actually opened, Kinara looked up again at Papa.

"Papa, can you slide first? Kinara wants to open the car door, Papa will stop, cry." Kinara Temptation.

Papa glared, but his body automatically shifted to the left.

Kinara, still with a whimper, opened the door and finally got out of the car. He immediately approached Papa, stood at the side of the man's body and then grabbed his arm.

"Don't get angry, get old soon." Persuade him while rubbing Papa's arm slowly which now he's slinging.

Papa slightly lowered his head, squinting his eyes while putting on an antagonistic look, which actually made him look even more funny in Kinara's eyes.

Then, because his efforts to scare Kinara did not work, Papa turned to look at Atha who had now followed her out of the car. The young man stood before him with an unstoppable smile.

"Fines are a hundred million because you're late for my son." Papa said while shaking his waist.

"Well, it can't be dong, Om. Kan, we agreed earlier that I could take her son an hour longer." Atha does not want to lose.

"I gave you an hour's clearance, but it's been five minutes." Papa still maintains his antagonist face.

Atha, while painstakingly holding his laughter so as not to explode, was still able to serve the future in-law.

"We got home on time, Om. Five minutes to park the car."

"Reason." Papa's lips with Julia's face.

Kinara was no longer strong enough to hold a laugh, so she burst out her laughter, so loud that Papa and Atha turned their heads in her direction.

"Where did you take my son? How does he look like a jin gini?" Papa said slowly. Moving away from Kinara and inching closer towards Atha.

"To the edge of the lake anyway, Om. I think there's a lot of demit there." Atha responded. He was silent as Kinara's father slipped his hand into her arm, just like a child asking for protection from her mother.

"You have a very powerful ustadz acquaintance, don't you? I think it should be diruqyah so as not kebablasan."

"There it is, Om. But it lives far away, in South Africa."

Atha almost spouted a laugh right in front of Papa's face that was still lingering spoiled on his arm. But with all her might she held back a laugh and nodded her head slowly.

"Will it be expensive to go there?"

"Expensive, Om. At least you should sell the kidney first, anyway."

"Well, if that's hard. Yes, no, no need. Let him sit, it's okay."

The vow! Kinara was no longer strong enough to hear the absurd chatter between Papa and Atha. His laughter became more and more so, his breathing felt dull and his stomach began to cramp. Clear threads seeped from the corner of his eye, he seka using the index finger of the right hand while his left hand was busy holding the stomach that felt no longer clingy.

"But pity Om if let laugh continues like that. I'm afraid I'll go crazy for a long time." This time, Atha was fishing.

And, like the fish that had long starved in the ocean and could not resist when fed, Papa bit the bait that Atha gave. But not with words, but with actions that Kinara had not let go, Atha himself did not expect the man to do.

Papa broke away from Atha's arm, walked quickly to Kinara and then suddenly put his right palm on the princess's forehead. In a style exactly like the ustaz-ustaz he saw on television, Papa began to recite prayers.

Kinara who was shocked because her forehead was suddenly held and she was read a prayer suddenly stopped laughing. He thrashed, trying to escape Papa but in vain because one hand the man held his arm.

"Father, uh! Leasin!" peekit Kinara's.

"Well, the demon is strong!" papa shouted in between his activities reading prayers while looking at Atha.

"Continue, Om. A little more tuk demitnya." Atha gave encouragement to the future in-law.

"You also help prayer, don't say it!" nagging Papa, then back to recite a prayer.

Atha according to him. His lips began to recite prayers even though they occasionally had to stop because they needed to hold their laughter so as not to explode right then and there.

Now, with two people reciting prayers simultaneously and Papa still moving like a real person meruqyah, Kinara felt like she was being completely possessed by a demon.

His laughter was about to explode again, but all he could do was hold on and he tried desperately to be calm so Papa thought his ruqyah had finished and they could end the drama immediately.

Because of the oath, Kinara was already tired. This was in fact and his strength was already drained to laugh. His throat also felt dry and raspy. So, he wanted to immediately enter the house to gulp down a full glass of drinking water.

His efforts finally bore fruit. He was no longer broken and Papa and Atha finally stopped reciting prayers. Papa kept his palm away from his forehead and then patted his own chest in a jemawa style.

"Take it as well as my ability." Mumbled Papa, proud of himself.

Not wanting to be back in-ruqyah, Kinara refrained from laughing. Compared to the upside with Atha who was stupidly even scattered so as to make Papa move quickly and immediately do the same thing that he had done to Kinara.

"Well, the demon moved here!" peekik Papa's.

Seeing that, Kinara's defense instantly collapsed. He returned uproarious, especially when he saw Papa turned his head and looked confused about who should he ruqyah first.

Meanwhile, on the doorstep of the house, Mama witnessed the interaction between the three humans with a perfectly developed smile. Mama is grateful that the storm that hit their families does not immediately make their laughter disappear.

Lord, may we still be given the pleasure of being able to blow up laughter with our loved ones. Mama whispered, sincerely and wholeheartedly.
