The Borders
Section 65 - Village in the Middle of the Desert

It did not feel like the two of them had reached a remote village in the middle of the desert that afternoon.

"Well, it turns out that in the middle of a barren desert like this there is still civilization apparently yes, Uncle." Kashel was in disbelief.

The village was quite prosperous despite being in the middle of a barren desert. There the villagers live by farming. There were enough water sources to house all of their lives there. Rainer just kept quiet and said nothing. But Kashel continued to feel astonished.

"Both of you, are faraway travelers coming here?" ask someone who has lodging in the village. When Rainer wants to book a room where they spend the night.

"Yes, we want to rent one bedroom." Rainer speaking flat.

"But the bedrooms here fit only one Master, if both I suggest renting two rooms." Bargain the inn owner.

"There's no need for me to only need one room," Rainer said coldly and resolutely so as to make the innkeeper instantly obey Rainer's wishes.

Everyone who was there looked at them, but when Kashel noticed everything immediately returned to his own activities.

Why did I feel like someone was looking, Kashel thought, but when he saw that they were all mediocre.

Maybe it's just my feelings. Inner Kashel again.

"Kashel, come follow me for a second." Take Rainer to take Kashel directly into the room they ordered.

The room they rented was not a luxurious room, there was one bed and there was a seat that could fit one person. With an excellent room to withstand the heat in the middle of such a desert.

"We must be careful Kashel. There's something strange about this village." Clearly Rainer whispered, afraid that someone might eavesdrop on their conversation.

Rainer was suspicious of the suspicious gazes of the villagers as they entered the village, they were well received by the people there, but their gazes were suspicious as well.

That's why Rainer booked a room for two, when it should only be filled by one person.

Kashel nodded obediently upon hearing Rainer's plan.

GECK!

GECK!

Someone knocked on the door.

That night, Kashel and Rainer's dinner came to their room. At that time they both chose to just rest and do nothing until the next day.

"This is a special service from our inn, so I hope you spend this banquet." Obviously the guy who brought them a simple food tray.

"Thank you," Rainer smiled accepting the food and closed their room door again.

Not long after that the man's servant knocked on the door of the room they both again asked if they had finished eating, and Rainer then gave a tray whose food was gone.

Rainer and Kashel, after which they both fall asleep carelessly. Not long after, several people entered the room.

"It looks like they've lost consciousness, we should take them to the village chief." Said the man who served them earlier.

Rainer and Kashel were taken by the men to a horse-drawn carriage. They both seemed to be sleeping so well.

"How, are they still unconscious?" ask a man who seems to be the leader in the village. His men just nodded.

"The nap meal has reacted well" said one of the men carrying the bodies of Rainer and Kashel.

"Take them to the basement. We must give offerings to the Great Serpent." Clearly the village leader.

Rainer and Kashel were then lifted up and taken into a small tunnel behind the village chief's house. After fifteen minutes of walking they finally reached their destination.

"My lord the Great Serpent, we came here to bring you a offering. A young man and a middle-aged man. We hope that with this deity, my lord will bless this land." He was with his other followers.

There were some human skulls scattered, it seemed like they were people who had been eaten by the snake.

"I feel that between the two of them there is a strong enough magic energy, shhh." His hissing speech stuck out his tongue like a snake in general with a raucous voice echoing.

"That guy! I'll eat it first. That powerful magic energy will make me invincible." Rainer immediately opened his eyes after hearing the snake's words, it was no use for him to pretend to faint.

"Oh so here, the hideout of the filthy creatures that have killed many humans." Said Rainer waking up from the pretense of being exposed to sleeping potions. He was a little annoyed at seeing human bones that were just left without being buried properly.

Kashel was also speechless as she opened her eyes looking at the bones, seeing that her heart was hurting and feeling upset. Knowing that there are people without conscience who sacrifice the lives of others for themselves.

The scattered bones were seen around three people who had been victims. However, for Kashel and Rainer, the lives of the three were still precious.

"How come you guys," murmured Kashel. The little sword that Kashel had hidden on his back seemed to glow again without Kashel's knowledge.

"W-how did the two of you escape the potion's influence?" ask the people who brought Rainer and Kashel.

"You think we're fools about to eat, food given by suspicious people." Rainer replied with a sharp look. Making the five people who were there squeak in fear.

"Shhhh, it doesn't matter if they are conscious or unconscious, the two of them will also soon catch up with these three people who have become my food." As the snake began to attack Rainer, Rainer quickly jumped into the air.

The five men who had brought Kashel and Rainer into the tunnel ran to their rescue. Because seeing them fight.

Kashel prepared to defend with a small sword and had his protective spell activated. So he just needs to avoid the stone ruins of the tunnel.

Rainer attacked the creature, lucky despite having taken a fair amount of casualties, the Dark Spirit was still not as strong as the dragon-shaped Dark Spirit Rainer and Kashel had faced. This snake does not have an immune body so Rainer lightning can hurt it.

However, because of his form he became a fairly agile animal and made Rainer overwhelmed, and lost sight of keeping Kashel. Finally the snake wanted to attack Kashel first, seeing the weak Kashel.

Kashel knew he was going to be wrapped around and could not escape and finally Kashel stretched his small sword upward and his sharp side forward. Kashel firmly grasped the algae of his sword with both hands trying to defend with the snake's twists.

"Sial I'm off guard." Rainer did not have time to chase the snake that was right in front of Kashel.

"Ukh!" kashel moaned as the snake wrapped itself tightly around him. Kashel's protective spell was instantly shattered.

The sword that Kashel was holding was glowing and slowly it cut off the body of the snake wrapped around the powerful Kashel. The serpent screamed, but Kashel did not. Then Kashel forcefully slashed the snake's body with his little sword so that it was cut off.

ZRAASH!

Fresh blood flowed and much came out from the slash of Kashel, so that Kashel's body was completely wet with the blood of the giant serpent from the tip of his hair to the tip of his foot.

At first Kashel was surprised and just silently sculpted, he did not expect with his little sword the body of the giant snake could be cut easily.

A single coil of the serpent could wrap around Kashel's entire body and even crush Kashel, but the sword protected him and could slash the serpent as easily as it did without any burden. Although Kashel also exerted all his ability to swing the sword in the coils of the giant serpent.

Rainer immediately took Kashel's body bathed in the blood of the giant snake.

THE GROAAAR!
