The Borders

The Borders
Part 46 – Team Liam and Kashel

Kashel slowly opened his eyes, his body was fine actually but he was shocked because of the great power that had devoured him earlier.

At the sight of how shocked Kashel was when he saw Liam sitting not far from Kashel.

"You!" Kashel sat down in surprise.

"What?" Lyam just asked. Kashel remained silent after that, fearing Liam.

"From now on, I'll help you if you're in trouble. We'll be friends from now on." Liam immediately spoke what he wanted to talk about.

"When did I accept you to be a friend?" Kashel asked, Kashel does want to have friends but that does not mean that his friend must be Lyam as well.

The number one person in the academy, befriended the lowest ranked person about magic. It is absurd according to Kashel. They have an inversely proportional relationship. Kashel could not imagine it.

.

.

.

"What the fuck?!" Kashel is shocked that Liam is now his roommate. The man's belongings have been moved to Kashel's room. When Kashel returns.

In this dormitory, the class of students is different levels but for room problems they can still share the same room even though their magic class is in a different level. Like now Lyam who is a class A can be in the same room a child from class C.

Kashel had lived in this dorm for seven years, always alone in her room no one wanted a room with her.

However, not once did Kashel feel fear. But when Lyam came and became Kashel's roommate she felt fear.

"Today we're gonna be roommates, 'cause we're friends." Lyam again spoke the words she only wanted to say without thinking about Kashel's feelings. Kashel looked unfriendly.

"Do I have anything wrong with him so he wants to plot a premeditated murder against me" murmured Kashel sitting at his study table.

"What did you just say?" Lyam was already suddenly beside Kashel, making the man shocked in shock.

"Well! No. I'm just imagining the story of a storybook." Kashel was shocked, just giving an excuse. He did not even look Liam in the eye at all while talking.

"So you like reading storybooks like that too?" Liam curious.

"A little I guess, when I have free time of course." Kashel replied still somewhat nervously.

Kashel knew that Lyam was not a human being, but that Kashel did not want to mention him clearly. Afraid that Lyam might even make himself killed for opening his mouth about his identity. And the purpose of Lyam approaching Kashel was for that, keeping Kashel from opening his mouth.

Kashel was really depressed over the presence of Liam nearby.

.

.

Not having a good night's sleep, Kashel fell asleep until the morning and was almost late.

"Hey, don't you go to school?" asked Liam from under the bed he was seen getting ready and just left.

Kashel woke up rubbing his eyes still sleepy, then he immediately sat surprised afterwards.

"Good heavens I overslept" Kashel murmured, thinking how he could sleep well like that, near a man who might endanger his life.

Many people were excited when they heard the rumors of Kashel and Lyam becoming roommates but out of fear of Lyam, they had nothing to talk about openly.

It was not felt today that already entering the practice exam, the seventh grade class increase would begin.

All classes from A to C levels will be randomized and put together as squad mates.

I will be left behind like that in the end.

The test this time was to eradicate the Spirit of Darkness. Then the teacher explained to them that they should not leave the team and should cooperate well. Because when they become Border Guard Knights later they will often do the task of eradicating the Dark Spirit with the help of a team.

.

.

.

Tonight they will plunge into the field at a time when the powerful Spirit of Darkness appears, the time showing around eleven o'clock at night.

With their magic abilities the names of those shuffled papers flew through the air and began to gather into one, Lyam as the number one ranker in the academy. Given a different task, where he would only get a squad with two people.

It turns out that Liam was secretly using his magical abilities to take Kashel's name as his squadmate.

.

.

.

Kashel looked puzzled, for as long as the names were mentioned. His name has not appeared at all.

"And who will be Lyam's teammate is Kashel." Kashel looked surprised, among the many people Kashel had to pair with Lyam.

Liam did just that because he didn't want his soul container candidate to be hurt. Because people are not responsible. Moreover, Lyam knows that no one really likes the existence of Kashel in this academy.

"Please cooperate," Liam is seen giving Kashel a forced smile as Liam is not used to smiling and it does not match him despite his handsome face.

Kashel did not return her smile and just looked at Liam in fear.

"L-yes, I hope I'm not a burden to you." Kashel replied somewhat doubtfully afterwards.

.

.

.

"You see the lowest rank paired with number one."

"I guess he just hitchhiked in the end."

"Thank God I'm not the one with the number one team."

"He's gonna die I guess before keeping up with Liam, hahaha."

These last whispers, which made Kashel feel rather cautious with Liam.

.

.

.

"Why? With me I'll make sure you're safe." Lyam explained the situation to Kashel.

"Why do you want to work with me?" Kashel. Because basically there will be no one willing to cooperate with me, Kashel thought.

"Because you were chosen to be my partner, I think that's destiny. So there's nothing special."

"Also the ability to track your Dark Spirit seems rather useful. If the problem of exterminating you is enough to leave everything to me, you don't have to dirty your hands to eradicate the Spirit of Darkness." Liam keeps babbling.

"I just found out you're talking a lot, too." Kashel spoke in response to Lyam.

At the moment Kashel was wearing her glasses directly, as it was an order from her guidance teacher. Until this test is completed Kashel must use his inner eye must not close it or he will be declared not to pass.

WUSH OFF!

A strong wind from the Spirit of Darkness in the forest came to Kashel and Lyam very quickly.

Lyam instantly swiftly destroyed that Spirit of Darkness. With the ability of the wind element. Then he put the black energy into a seal bottle as proof that he had defeated the dark energy.

He was in serious mode, Kashel was both amazed and frightened by such a Lyam, for in the presence of Kashel Lyam did not hide his strength at all.

"You're great, I feel useless here." Kashel praised Liam because he felt bad for him.

"If you want, you can be strong just like me." Liam said with a serious look, but Kashel only thought it was a joke. Where could it possibly be was Kashel's mind. Kashel did not know if Lyam's speech was really serious.

"Have it, I don't want it that way either. It was not my goal to seek great power like the characters in the fairy tale books that others always despise and then seek strength and become strong. I don't want to be like that and will choose my own path." Kashel said as he continued walking. He becomes Liam's guide to show where the powerful Spirit of Darkness is.

Living a normal life, that's my real goal. Inner Kashel smiled as she impatiently waited for that day, but what happened in front of her was not what she had imagined.
