Ch. 311 - The Past of the Fire Salamender
"You're so stubborn, man. Shit."
The Fire Salamender cast a glance in the other direction, on the other hand Shui continued to look at his movements. There must be something hidden by the salamender. Moreover, his attitude is now, so unfriendly to the human race. Shui had no idea what had happened to the Flame Salamender after they had been separated for quite a while.it was just that now he could see the regretful and angry gazes of the Flame Salamender upon seeing the humans.
"I've known a man."
Unexpectedly Salamender Fire said it, clearly making the two turn to the salamender, but it seemed that the story was something heavy to be disturbed again.
"I once believed in a human being, in this world, I had to regret why I became a demon. Why not be human so I can always be with that person? Without having to be hostile to other humans, that way we'll continue to be together - or if we can, we'll die on the same battlefield."
No one dared to cut the story of the Fire Salamender. All serious. After saying that the salamender turned his head towards Xin Chen."I've been friends with him for a long time, he even thinks of me as a brother. Until I forget that I am still a much different demon from you, I forget who I really am and put him in danger hundreds of times. I ... I may be the cause of his death."
At the end of the word Fire Salamender simply moved away from them, moving by the shore. Shui thought the salamender was going back to his lair but it wasn't. He stopped and looked far out into the open sea. "Just a piece of his finger I found after the war that day. I buried him with me in the depths of the sea. But the more I think about it, the more sick people make me. You are so naive and sensitive, weak and greedy. To save people simply because they want a peace that is impossible to achieve."
Despite saying so the Flame Salamender was still so remembered with that human, who even split a small piece of food at him when they were both starving. Back then he was disguised amongst the humans, becoming one of the strongest and seeing how the situation in the Qing Empire was. They used to have the same goal, but had to stop at different lines. The man had already left after a fresh start was being started.
"This empire has not been at war for a long time because of him. He stopped all that mess and it just became an old story. I thought after that day it was all over. But that guy died too soon. The Qing Empire became more greedy and now wanted to rule over the entire land? That means it's free, isn't it. For what to stop the war whereas today the greater problem resurfaces."
The Fire Salamender asked himself, he no longer knew what the man had been doing all this time. Desperate to stop a never ending war.
Before the Flame Salamender spoke back Xin Chen first cut in, "At least by stopping that war he had already saved thousands of lives."
"The reason is simple. But the human mind is complicated. So you think stopping this war is a futile act, lizard of fire?"
"Whatever you say. I don't think it's any good at all."
Their discussions stopped there. The Fire Salamender was indeed difficult to persuade, as Shui had expected. But he only found out that even Xin Chen had a hard time inviting him.
For the last time the Fire Salamender expressed his opinion, after which he intended to return before the humans suspected what was happening in this place and examined it.
"For ever the state of men will not change. As long as the greedy king is alive, or the wicked appear, and the threat from the past remains. In fact, such things cannot be separated from us all."
The Fire Salamender was startled, then was blown away for a long time. "You're the second person to ever say the same thing. And the first man was tortured in hell before he was able to realize his dream - or perhaps his scum?"
Xin Chen was out of his mind. He was really frustrated with the lizard demon. Were it not for the situation being serious, he would have slapped the many-reasoned creature with the Spirit-Controlling Book.
"The essence of your talk means, you want to stay on your side and wait for the Dragon to come to you by itself, right? If you don't want to get involved it's up to you. I'm not forcing. But if until you die and the special strength of your four elemental endurance falls into his hands, you will only add trouble to us."
Xin Chen went first to a place a little far away from the two. Because of using too much strength earlier he had to recuperate first. Xin Chen spent some time meditating, hoping Shui would come face to face with the infuriating Fire Salamender.
Shui looked at Xin Chen who had just closed his eyes, it seemed that a debate with the Fire Salamender was much more exhausting than fighting with him. He glanced towards the Fire Salamender who was grinning in his eyes. Though the Fire Salamender did nothing but Shui was already scared.
"Indeed your arguing opponent is just a Lightning Fox. You win on tongue-tin-tongue."
"I'm just saying what I think. Why is that young man so desperate to see me?"
"Maybe it's because with the fox alone he can't dwell. Especially facing you." Rather than discussing it, Shui returned to their initial conversation.
"I know you're not that wily to back out of this battle. We're not fighting for humans, but our other friends."
"Only a few left is not enough to take down the Dark Dragon." For the umpteenth time Shui took a breath, stringing together words suitable to face this Fire Salamender.
"That young man, he once fought the Dark Dragon. With hisfather. They were close to winning, but the enemy knew how to threaten a patron how they said they would destroy an entire empire if they did not surrender. And now, the young man lost his father. He was also fighting for his father."
"Beat the Dark Dragon? Don't joke."
"Me and the Thunder Fox are there." A moment Salamender Fire turned to him, looking for lies in the blue eyes of the sea. Shui didn't lie, he saw how strongly the fox had survived. He had expected it to happen and prepared himself as best he could for the sake of looking after the humans. To this day, Shui had no idea why the Thunder Fox was so fighting for the humans. But if it was true that he was doing so for the sake of the other Earth Ruler Demon, then it was no wonder why the fox was alluding to the Fire Salamender.
"At that time the fox said if you were there, victory would be in our hands."
