Marrying the Vampire Prince

Marrying the Vampire Prince
chapter 7's

The feeling was so good that Evie managed to fall asleep right before she stopped playing.

Still, he kept his fingers folded in his hands.

However, after enjoying a pleasant nap, he gasped awake because there was a loud noise from outside the carriage that suddenly .

Although Gavriel had held him firmly to stop him from being injured by the move, Evie still cried out in shock.

And then, there was a terrifying silence. She looked at her husband with wide eyes but the man remained calm. He held her shoulder and whispered,

"Don't be afraid. Stay inside. I'll get rid of him. Don't try to peek because you may not like what you're about to see."

Before he could even make a sound, Gavriel had already opened the door and quickly jumped down, closing the door firmly behind his back.

A bone-chilling growl filled Evie's ears as soon as the carriage door was closed. Her eyes were still wide open and her hands were left hanging in the air in a failed attempt to stop her husband from leaving.

He knew from that terrifying voice alone that a savage beast had come. Wh why? It's not even night yet!

Evie's throat is drying out. His face became even paler as he saw the voices getting louder.

The beasts were approaching and there didn't seem to be only two or three of them. Sounds like the whole tribe has come for them. His hand flew to his heart as fear spread throughout his body. What's gonna happen? Is he going to die here?

The blunt sound of what looked like a flesh-slashing sword filled the air and the growl became louder. He felt the sound of an earthquake that caused the car to shake. He wanted to hear Gavriel's voice but all he could hear was the overwhelming sound of battle he never wanted to hear.

"Please, don't get hurt! You can't leave me here alone! Tell me you're still there!" Evie muttered as she trembled on the floor of the carriage.

Squatting on the floor, Evie crawled towards the door with little strength he could muster. His mind and body became numb from fear and coldness. All she wanted at the time was to know that her husband was still alive. The loud and savage voice faded . her mind blurred as she concentrated on going to the door to look for her husband.

With trembling hands, Evie grabs the door but before she can touch it, the carriage shakes again from something big - hopefully the savage beast dies from hitting it, he was thrown back against the opposite wall.

Evie squealed as her body hit the wall. It seemed like her nightmare had come back to life - the scariest nightmare she had ever experienced. Years ago, Evie was attacked by vampires while she was traveling and after that experience, she repeatedly experienced that moment in her nightmares. But at the time, his mother was with him and many guards were traveling with them for protection. The fight back then was fierce and Evie was frightened but her mother hugged her the whole time, reassuring her that their guards were incredible soldiers and that they would be fine, until the fight was over.

This time it was completely different. He has no one to hold. No one who was with him in this terrible situation told him that he would be okay, that they would defeat their enemies and what was even scarier was that he knew that they had no guards.

Even if her husband was a vampire prince, could he really fight against many ferocious beasts and survive? What if ... what if her husband is already ...

The fear in his heart was too much and it was getting harder for him to breathe. Still, he crawled towards the door again but the moment he touched the door, he realized that his world had become very quiet. Vibration shook Evie's body and gulped. What the hell's going on? Is it over? Is she okay?

Evie bit her trembling lips and pushed the door open. A freezing wind greeted him but he did not freeze from the cold, he froze when he saw what was before him.

A large, hairy, bloody, ash-colored beast was strewn across the ground. They look like giant wolves. The body parts of the beast were scattered along the white snow that painted the red ground where they lay. Evie also sees the leg of a man she suspects, even praying to be the leg of the coachman and not her husband, next to one of the animal's heads. The sight made the already pale Evie almost as white as a piece of paper. The thick blood that spread before his eyes made his body completely numb to the point that he did not know if he was still breathing.

When he turned around and looked at her, the world seemed to stop. His eyes that once looked like a pair of soothing silver moons had disappeared. They were replaced by a pair of intense, blood-red eyes.

It was the eyes of the monsters in reality and his nightmare. He felt like the god of death was staring at him and his body fell backwards onto the floor of the carriage.

As he moved towards her, Evie's body instinctively retreated until her back hit the opposite carriage wall.

He was like a little rabbit trembling in fear because the ferocious wolf had seen him and was now approaching him to tear him down and make him his food.

The man stopped for a few seconds upon seeing his reaction, but then he continued to approach the carriage, stopping near the door. Evie buried her face in her knees, as if not seeing her would lessen her fear. He hugged himself in the fetal position, trembling uncontrollably.

Gavriel looked at him and saw him making him think that he was like a little white rabbit cowering in fear because a hungry wolf had cornered him to his death.

His jaw clenched but he remained calm as he quietly cleaned and sheathed his sword.

He stood by the door. "Evielyn," he called. Soft voice. "It's over. No need to be afraid now. I'm here, don't be afraid."

The poor little rabbit moved and peeked at him, but when their eyes met, he gasped and buried his face again.

Gavriel's eyebrows twitched as he realized that the rabbit was afraid of him, not of the dead animals scattered around him. He closed his eyes and when he opened them again, his eyes were no longer red. She combed her hair with her fingers and patiently, she tried to persuade the rabbit once more.

Slowly, he climbed into the carriage, moving very carefully as he approached and crouched down in front of him

"The beast is dead. You're safe now. No one can hurt you" he said, but the girl still did not move.

Gavriel knew that it could not be easy for this frightened little rabbit to crawl back to him after what he saw. However, he could see that he almost froze to death. Glancing at the tangled blanket on the floor of the carriage, Gavriel picked it up.

"At least grab this blanket, Evielyn."

"Come, this warms you up before you freeze to death. At least wear this you will be warmer even on the train floor," his voice was low and soft and almost hypnotic so that his voice managed to penetrate Evie's still numb body and mind.

"Your eyes," she finally uttered between her trembling teeth without looking at him, her voice barely whispering.

Gavriel's brows furrowed for a moment but he soon realized what he was trying to say.

"It's not red anymore. Why don't you see it?"

Unexpectedly, he raised his face and looked at her faster than he thought.
