"Generic..." Evie called the butler as she finished eating.
"Did something happen last night?" he asked, hesitating.
"Why are we leaving the capital in such a hurry?"
The butler was silent for a moment and he knew he was considering whether he should answer or not.
Gavriel tells him that he will explain but he seems to be quite busy as usual. And he couldn't wait to find out what was going on.
Moreover, she felt better hearing it from Elias than her husband because somehow she knew that Gavriel would seduce her again rather than answer her question.
"That's because it's no longer safe for you to stay in the capital, miss. So, Your Majesty's only option is to take you away immediately."
Evie's eyes widened slightly.
"Why? Who's gonna hurt me?" his eyebrows furrowed, confused?
"The vampire emperor wants war to break out."
"I. I don't understand. Didn't they agree to a ceasefire because they didn't want war?" Evie's voice became a little worried.
"It seems the emperor changed his mind. His Majesty found out about his plan to violate the truce and once the humans came, the emperor intended to use His Majesty to lead an army of vampires to fight them."
Surprise was etched on Evie's face.
"But you don't have to worry now, My Lady. They can no longer hurt you, so a war between vampires and humans won't happen."
"W-how can you be so sure? If the emperor sends his men to..."
Seeing the fear in his eyes, Elias panicked a little.
"Uhm. Please don't worry about that, Miss. The Emperor will not send his men here. And even if he did, they would never have a chance unless he sent his entire army to attack Dacria. But even if he does that, please don't worry, His Majesty will protect you."
"A... What do you mean? Why did the emperor invade his own land just to capture me?"
"No, uhm .. actually the emperor just declared His Majesty Gavriel a traitor when he took you away and brought you here. The emperor stated that the prince tried to lead the coup, so he would probably send troops here not to kill you, but to bring down the prince and kill him."
"Why?" Evie couldn't believe what she was hearing.
"Is this all? Gavriel is-"
"My lady." Elias cut. He was worried about his facial expression.
Scoundrel. Did he make a big mistake by revealing all of this? She had answered him because she thought it was better if she knew and she was sure that the prince also did not plan to hide this from her.
"Please listen .. This is not your fault at all. The Emperor had just found another reason to bring down His Majesty. If anything happens to you that night, he had planned to blame His Majesty and force him to make up for his irresponsibility by leading the imperial army to fight against the humans after the war broke out And then while the prince was being troubled by the war, he'll find a way to kill her. The Emperor was eager to kill the prince because His Majesty Gavriel was a threat to the fake royal family at this time. So please, don't think it's all your fault, miss."
Silence enveloped them as Evie took a moment to process everything she had just heard.
He remembered the blond-haired nobles he had met at the royal party and their good treatment of him that night.
"This place .." she finally spoke.
"It's not just a safe place for me, is it? It's also safe for Gavriel, right?"
The butler seemed surprised by the worry in his voice and the fact that he seemed to be really worried about the prince.
Elias smiled warmly at her.
"Yes, Madam. Don'worry. This was his hiding place since he was young. This place has been his hiding place for a long time and the vampires here are protecting him a lot. They would fight for him to the death, even if they knew it meant they would fight their own emperor and fellow vampires. And please don't worry about His Majesty and just trust him. He's stronger than you can imagine."
After Evie finished eating, Elias took her around to look around the inside of the castle.
Elias did not take Evie outside because of the heavy snow. However, Elias had cut short the tour before they could even see it all, arguing that he should go to bed and rest.
Evie couldn't blame him. He knew it was for human vampires a fragile vase that could be smashed to pieces with just one mistake.
Most of the time, this statement will apply. Compared to them, human life was truly fragile.
Even a simple accident could eventually lead to the death of a person. But Evie also sees so many powerful humans fighting the norm.
Many of those who break the rules and do not conform to the norm are fighters who can find a small spark within themselves to improve themselves and stand up again and again after a fall and break.
He wanted to tell Elias that humans were not as fragile as he thought they were, but he held back those words, kept those thoughts to himself and simply nodded at him.
He knew that words alone would not be enough to make him believe what he believed. He had to watch it with his own two eyes for him to believe.
although he was eager to stand up for his own race and claim that there were humans who deserved to be praised for being strong, he knew it was not worth arguing about this matter with Elias.
As soon as she returned to her room and was alone, Evie walked towards the large window.
Looking outside, he could see the majestic city below, interesting and magnificent houses were arranged and surrounded the castle in a circle - and he really had to admit that he found the scenery very interesting. Its roofs, its streets, its gardens, were all covered with a thick layer of pure white snow.
He had never seen anything like it at home. He thought back then that if there was a place with a single color, it would probably look very quiet and bland.
However, after seeing it with his own eyes, it seemed like he was proven wrong. This place feels like a different world to him – and it is a magical and beautiful world.
As she looks at the snow-covered city, Evie begins to wonder what will happen to her from here on out.
Things she has learned about her husband, secrets the vampire royal family is trying to hide or ignore, and the fact that there was a war going on between her husband and the royal family was something she never even imagined.
And that's why, at this rate, he doesn't know what's going to happen again.
" Are you okay?" A low voice suddenly resounded near his ears, jerking him, making him whip in surprise. And he froze, with wide eyes, as his nose touched his nose. Their lips are only a few millimeters away. It seemed that he was bowing to her when she turned around!
Evie's heart was racing in her chest, her face flushed red and hot. Stumbling to make the distance between them – more for the peace of mind than for the sake of politeness – Evie grabbed the window frame behind her as she looked at him, confused and embarrassed and really nervous.
"You.. surprised me," he stuttered, still blushing.
The vampire prince's lips curved upwards, as if he had just witnessed an extremely adorable sight that delighted him all the way to his bones.
"Sorry," he said, biting his lower lip to hide his smile. Evie furrowed her brows as she looked at him.
He didn't seem to regret it at all. In fact, he looked as happy as a cat swallowing a canary.
"Are you ... laughing at me?" evie asked, pouting full lips, not knowing her actions had drawn Gavriel's eyes to those tempting lips like a moth to a fire.
"No, my wife." She straightened up, something in her eyes glittered intensely as she shook her head at him.
"I'm just happy." Her bright eyes looked even more shocking than usual.
He blinked and then his brows furrowed.
"Happy?" he echoed, curious as he tilted his head to one side. Not knowing that the act actually made her look even more attractive in the eyes of adoring her husband.
"Did something good happen?" she was shocked to see how she suddenly felt somewhat excited to find out what made her husband look this happy. There must be some good news he heard at the meeting he just went to, right?
"Hmm," he muttered and a slight casual but cunning and smashing smile touched the corner of his mouth.
"Yes, wife. Something really good has finally happened."
Evie furrowed her brows and once again tilted her head slightly to one side as she questioned him with her eyes. Curiosity is rising.
"You want to know?" he asked, his eyes sparkling seductively. Clearly he was enjoying the banter between them.
"Yes." Yeah." He took the bait immediately despite thinking that he must have teased her.
"I'll tell you, Evie. But. You have to get closer. It's a secret so I have to whisper."
