"The late empress hid her son in such a place because she knew that the emperor would kill His Majesty once she saw his appearance. That's why no one had seen His Majesty during the first 16 years of his life except the late empress herself, " Elias continued.
"When the late empress revealed the whereabouts of Prince Gavriel, the imperial palace was shaken because they never thought the empress ever conceived the emperor's child.
At that moment, Prince Gavriel's eyes were red, and his hair was dark brown. No one knew that the late empress deliberately starved His Majesty so that her eyes could remain red the entire time and also dye her hair.
He had told everyone the reason why he hid His Majesty's whereabouts for so many years was because of the prince.
Everyone knew that the empress and the emperor's relationship was not a good one for each other because the emperor openly showed his dislike of the empress and liked and loved his mistress excessively than his wife.
They understood the reason why the empress had to hide her son. It was all because the emperor's eldest heir was from his mistress and not the empress.
They all knew that a power struggle was bound to happen between the two princes.
Since vampire laws always required the firstborn to inherit the throne, the mistress' son had a great advantage but with Prince Gavriel as the legitimate son, his right to the throne was also undeniable. So, officials have received the empress' explanation as to why she hid her son for so long."
"W-what about the emperor? Did he give the empress an explanation?" evie asked, her eyes filled with interest, attention, and curiosity.
"Unfortunately, he didn't do it. He secretly sent his elite people to investigate the matter more deeply. The empress had told everyone that Prince Gavriel was raised in Dacria but the emperor's people knew that no one in Dacria had ever known about the prince, let alone seen him, in the last sixteen years. No matter what he did, there was no information at all.
It was as if the prince had just appeared out of nowhere. The suspicion never stopped there. She begins to mentally disturb the prince. The empress to tell the truth, telling him that she does not believe that Gavriel belongs to her.But the empress bears everything and stands tall against the emperor."
"The Empress wanted Prince Gavriel to grow stronger before she could finally reveal the full truth of her bloodline and her original appearance to the empire. He wanted him to grow so strong that he could fight against the emperor in his own right. He enrolls Prince Gavriel to a top and elite military school as soon as he reveals it. To his surprise and everyone's surprise, the prince didn't even need the help of any school to hone his strength since the prince was already extraordinarily strong in every way." Elias began to puff up proudly while continuing his story.
"watching His Majesty's fight, I get goosebumps. He was only seventeen years old, but it felt like he was born a warrior, as if he had been through hell ever since he was a child, which is impossible because we know no major wars have taken place over the past sixteen years. His skills and aura were something that vampires could never hone from fighting against humans. The truth is ... I actually quite doubted myself about the fact whether His Majesty actually grew up in a dungeon or not. Ha ha."
Evie furrowed her brows as Elias rubbed the back of her head while laughing awkwardly.
"But according to His Majesty himself, he was indeed raised in a dungeon. But he never revealed any details about his life growing up there. The fact he did was the only thing he confirmed. And..." Elias fell silent, finally realizing that he had said too much.
"Uhm.I think we should go back now, Your Majesty." She changed the topic and Evie bit her lower lip in great disappointment.
But Elias had turned his back on him and returned to where they had come from.
Realizing that the butler would not continue anymore, Evie could only follow.
He suppressed the strong desire to ask more because he knew that the butler realized that he exposed too many details to her.
Evie knew the strict rules for servants in talking about their master, so she understood why Elias stopped. But he thought that perhaps, he could make her talk again in the following days. He should not pry too hard and come at her too clearly.
"Am I allowed to go out and visit the city?"
Elias stop.
"Sorry Miss but I have to ask Your Majesty's permission first. I'll definitely tell you once I receive the answer."
“Oh...well..”.
"What about the library, ma'am? Do you want to spend the rest of the night there? Or maybe you want me to take you to the park? But I guess, you've been tired of hanging around the castle for hours now. ."
"Alright," Evie could only smile awkwardly because this butler was too worried again.
"Then I'll go to the library."
The butler escorted him to the library in an instant and Evie was shocked and fascinated at the gothic-looking and large library.
He had never expected that he could find a library of this size and elegance within the vampire castle and he could not help but wonder what topics could be found written in all of the countless books the amount kept here.
"You can leave me here now Elias and do your job. You don't have to watch me every minute of the day. I think I can spend the rest of the night here in peace." He said with a smile. Evie did not know why, but she suddenly felt excited upon seeing this place and the millions of books stored on those ancient shelves, it was as if a different adventure was waiting for him inside those worn-out pages.
Fortunately, the butler nodded
"Levy's on stand-by outside the door. So, if you need anything, don't hesitate to call him."
"Md. I'll do it."
"Also .. uhm ..." Elias hesitantly leaned the body a little closer.
"Please don't ask His Majesty about the dungeon and his childhood." He said, making Evie frown a little.
"Why not?"
"Because... His Majesty seems to hate talking about anything related to the basement or his childhood. Actually just mentioning the word 'underground prison' could change his mood drastically. So please keep what I said before just between us, okay? Mrs?"
He's nodding. "Don't worry, I get it."
"Thank you, Madam." Elias gave her a smile.
