Marrying the Vampire Prince

Marrying the Vampire Prince
chapter 38's

After their dinner, they, Evie and the nobleman were still chatting as they left the dining room and had just stepped into the large living room when they saw a number of women climbing up the large stairs towards the castle ballroom.

With just one look, Evie can tell that they are all beautiful female specimens – almost flawless.

Clearly they might be the daughters of the nobles in this Dukedom. But why are they here? Did the noble have a tea party? Evie doubted it because from what she observed, the beautiful woman looked as young as she was.

"Oh, they're finally here." The Duchess sounded delighted as she looked at the women with eyes that seemed to be researching.

"Who ... who are they?" Evie asked curiously and hesitantly.

The gray-haired vampire glanced at him while Evie's eyes were still fixed on the group of beautiful women. The Duchess looked at Evie with an observant look as she spoke.

"They are the daughters of the nobles, Your Majesty." Duchess Aurora said without taking her eyes off Evie's face.

"Why are they here?" Evie finally met her gaze.

"Is there an event happening right now?" he kept asking and the Duchess fell silent for a moment. It seemed to weigh something in his mind before he answered.

"They were invited to enter the castle as His Majesty's future concubine."

It took Evie a few seconds to recall the words the noble had spoken. His mind could not accept what he had just heard.

Evie finally stood there, frozen, as the nobleman observed her reaction.

Although Duchess Aurora had not met her husband due to the current situation, she had already heard about this. And this was why he was trying to meet the Princess.

Of course, he already knew about Gavriel's marriage agreement with this human princess.

And Duchess Aurora was actually discouraged when she heard about the agreement that Gavriel was not even allowed to touch her own wife.

The Duchess found it ridiculous that a husband is not allowed to touch his own wife.

So even though she disagreed with the idea of a married man having a mistress, Aurora could only support him in this particular case. She would definitely support a wife over any mistress, because as a wife, she hated mistresses.

However, how can she support a wife who denies her husband the right to touch her? Especially when she finds out that her husband is in a dire situation and desperately needs an heir to secure his lineage.

"I'm glad Prince Gavriel finally agreed." The Duchess continued, still watching Evie's face closely.

"He .. does he agree?" Evie's face suddenly turned deathly pale. However, his facial expression did not change in the slightest.

"I have not met my husband or the prince, but it seems that this is what the council has concluded and decided. If the prince doesn't give his consent, there can't be anyone moving."

"I get it.." That's all Evie said. But her reaction was clear to the Duchess.

Clearly Evielyn was affected and perhaps even broken, and heartbroken, judging by the look of her desperate eyes.

This is not what the duchess expected. Didn't he hate Gavriel because he wouldn't even let her sleep with him in the same room? Aurora had heard that yesterday, the prince left the princess' room and slept somewhere else.

Even the servants started gossiping, saying that the princess must have kicked him out in the middle of the day.

So, what was with his betrayed expression now? Could they be missing out on important information? This can be disastrous if not handled properly.

"I want to retire now, Duchess Aurora. Nice to meet and talk to you." Evie forced a small smile and then turned to leave. His voice, his forced smile, and the look in his sad eyes.It was very clear to the noble about how hard he struggled to control his emotions.

It was not the reaction and expression of a wife who did not care about her husband at all. In fact, she behaved as if her husband had betrayed their love and marriage vows despite giving his heart to her! What exactly is going on here?

Could it be that the princess is slowly falling in love with the prince now?

"Please slow down Milady. You can fall." Elias said as Evie sped up his pace, eager to return to the security of the room he was staying in with Gavriel.

Elias was also surprised by what he heard. He did not know this because he had not met the prince since the prince went to the meeting.

Does he really agree? She doubted him greatly but since she was confident that the Duke and Duchess would never do anything without the Prince's permission, she could only take it as the truth.

The Duke had never done anything against the Prince's wishes before.

And since Elias and the other five faithful men of Prince Gavriel had also urged their master to father a child, he could not hide his relief and joy.

They understand the importance of having other royalties. It was all for Prince Gavriel too. Everyone who supported the prince wanted this so much that they would all probably do anything to make it happen, if only the Prince did not oppose it.

Evie suddenly lost her balance while stepping on her skirt due to her hasty steps. Thankfully, Elias caught her in time, just before she could fall .

"Your Majesty, please. I'm just telling you to do it slow..." Elias could not continue his statement as he finally saw the look on Evie's face.

Oh no .. he completely forgot about the woman.

Hiding his face, Evie pulled away from Elias as he rushed forward again. Realizing that the woman was not happy at all and even seemed as if her heart was breaking, Elias could not help but worry.

She had not expected him to be affected this bad and thought it so hard, because she knew that she still did not allow the prince to touch her.

Could it be because he was worried that the Prince would eventually marry one of his concubines? He recalls how he reacted to the problems with Lady Thea in the capital and Elias's worries skyrocketed.

He was convinced that the reason why he went to the small forest and met a beast was because he was angry and injured, thinking that the prince would take another wife.

Afraid that he would do something that would eventually hurt himself, Elias panicked a little.

The prince would probably kill her if something happened to him. He had to do something to calm her down. He had to convince her that there was nothing to worry about.

"Miss, uhm. I know you've been aware about the war that is going on between the prince and the fake royal family so everyone is really unstable right now." He began to explain while walking beside her.

But Evie continues, seemingly determined to finally reach her room and lock her up.

"Everyone urged the prince to father a child to secure the royal lineage. And that's why they can only use this. You know that vampires don't easily conceive children, right? So making him take on more than two concubines would be the most ideal way to increase his chances of fathering a child."

Evie wished she could cover her ears and shut her mind. He doesn't want to hear anymore.

Yep. He knows. He was completely aware of this matter that Elias mentioned. The importance of a fucking bloodline. Because his own family suffered this and unfortunately ... his father did the same, just for the sake of producing an heir, because his mother could not give him a son.

He couldn't believe he was going through this either.

“And you're already aware of the fact that it's almost impossible for humans and vampires to have children together, right? So, I hope you can understand why this should happen, Madam. People are in dire need of reassurance, especially during these difficult times they want to do everything and anything possible to secure the royal lineage before the war begins.

So please don't worry, ma'am. Because I'm sure His Majesty will never take another wife. You will be the only wife. The only purpose of the concubine was to give birth to Her Majesty as heir." He continued and Evie almost laughed.

The same thing was told to his mother. She wondered how painful it was for her mother

. Now he's being told the same thing. She wondered how her mother managed herself during that time and most likely, until now.

Because it already felt unbearable to him .. even though he didn't even love her ... She didn't? Then why did this impossible painful feeling flow all over him now?
