Marrying the Vampire Prince

Marrying the Vampire Prince
chapter 13's

When Evie stepped out of the castle, she was already wearing the same black robe that Gavriel and his men were wearing.

Her fiery dress and silver hair were now hidden under that thick and luxurious black robe.

While Gavriel was talking to a man who was also wearing the same black robe, Evie was busy looking around. He turned and looked up. He knew it was dark, but he still admired how beautiful the castle grounds were.

Even in the darkness, it remained visible how big the castle was and the garden in the front yard was also spacious. His clear mind could already imagine the sight of this place in broad daylight and he had to admit, this place was more beautiful and larger than Lily's famous palace in the Southern Empire. As he looked around, he thought that there must be a mistake in thinking that the emperor did not like Gavriel.

He was definitely the most beloved of emperors and that was why he was given the most beautiful castle in the empire.

"Wife," Gavriel draws her attention back to him as she walks over to him.

"Before we go, I want you to meet my men," he said, and five men stood in a row a few steps ahead of him.

Their cloaks come down. Evie gulped inaudibly by their overwhelming presence.

Three of them were as tall as Gavriel but the other two were huge. Evie instantly recalled the great and terrifying generals who used to accompany her father and the human emperors in the Southern Empire.

In fact, despite looking extremely casual, these five men exuded a powerful aura that surpassed any human general he had ever met.

"Good night, Your Majesty, I'm Samuel" said the greatest with long brown hair. The first thing Evie saw were two large scars that stretched from the middle of her forehead to her left cheek.

He tries his best not to stare at his scar because of his shock, Evie's curiosity is triggered because it's common knowledge that vampires heal themselves and if they heal, they will never leave a scar. So how does this guy have scars?

"My name is Levy. Nice to meet you, Madam." The man with a jovial and friendly smile introduced himself next. Her hair is also brown, but she has a neat haircut that complements her good looks. The first thing Evie noticed about him was his wide and friendly smile.

"I'm Luc, Madam." The third man was almost as tall as the great Samuel. He looked aloof and expressionless. Her disheveled golden hair stood out and Evie thought that her bright hair – despite being beautiful – gave a very opposite feeling by not praising her somewhat gray personality.

"I'm Zolan, Madam." The fourth man had a lively voice and an energetic smile. She had long blonde hair tied loosely behind her and Evie's eyes instantly caught the only gold earring in her ears.

The latter had an innocent look. He was as tall as the others, but he looked young. His blue eyes and curly gray hair stood out.

"It's fun to meet you all." Evie was a little confused as to what the introduction meant.

in the human kingdom, this is not the norm. There was no need for a soldier to make an introduction like this unless the person they were serving asked their name. Moreover, they were definitely not Evie's men. They belong to her husband. Why did they introduce themselves to him?

As if Gavriel had read his mind, the prince spoke. "These five people are the ones I trust the most and they will be the ones to look after you every time you come out of our castle. So, it would be best if you remembered their names and faces."

Evie furrowed her brows. They guarding? Why does he need to be guarded? Vampires can't touch her and hurt her, right?

Before Evie could ask, another man approached them. The man did not feel intimidated and he was not a towering tree like Gavriel and the other five. He wore a friendly smile and his demeanor was almost human. He even had the same red hair as his two human servants. But clearly, he is not human. He is a vampire. Weak vampire, maybe?

"Find my waiter, Evielyn. He will be your servant from now on. Don't hesitate to ask her if there's anything you need." Gavriel said and the butler smiled at him.

Evie slightly nodded acknowledging her greeting and then Gavriel leaned on her.

 "Are you ready?" She asked.

"We won't use the train because we're too late. I'll carry you, my wife."

"O-okay," Evie could only nod and her approval made Gavriel's lips curl a thin smile.

Evie avoided looking at her face, so she did not see how her gaze flickered mischievously.

Without wasting any time, he bent down and lifted her up very easily as if he was made of paper.

"Circle your hands around my neck, wife." He said softly and Evie complied. His eyes carefully avoided seeing her noble face. This was the solution he had thought of to avoid temptation. He should not stare at her for longer than necessary.

Her hands around her neck were so loose that she did not even let her hands touch her bare skin.

However, as he leaped high above the ground, Evie's hand instinctively clasped his neck.

He held his breath and his eyes closed. This was the first time he had experienced this. Are they flying?! He had always wondered what it was like to fly before, but now that he experienced it firsthand, it really felt terrifying.

When she sensed him land, Evie exhaled a breath she didn't even realize she was holding and prepared for another jump. But the man holding her back did not move anymore.

"Open your eyes, Evielyn." His deep voice echoed, and he slowly opened his eyes.

"I told you I'd show you the city when we're on our way there."

"But you said we were too late."

He smiled at her. The moonlight was so bright that night that he could see the otherworldly face clearly.

"Yes, but it's okay. No one can scold us for being late." He saw a mischievous yet seemingly dangerous glint in his eyes.

Why is he so carefree? Wouldn't they meet the emperor? He was known as the most powerful and dangerous being in this empire and perhaps even in the entire continent.

"Now look, Evielyn. It's a view of the city at night."

Evie couldn't take it anymore. He slowly turned his head away from her and his lips opened when he saw the scene that greeted him. The city of the vampire empire was completely different from what he had imagined. It was not as creepy and lifeless a place as he had hoped. Lights were everywhere, the shadows of countless castles loomed in certain parts of the city and the street lights made it seem so magical – as if she was looking at the imperial fairy city. How could a place that should be like hell finally look so beautiful!?

"Do you like it?" He asked and Evie couldn't even help but nod.

"That's great. But we better continue. We can drive around on the way home."
