Marrying the Vampire Prince

Marrying the Vampire Prince
Chapter 1

"Madam, they're here .. The prince is here."

Evie's shoulders stiffened immediately upon hearing the voice from her servant. Cold sweat dripped down his back as he stared nervously at his mother who had just come to check on him.

"Mom, I..." Evie unknowingly grabbed her mother's shirt. He can't help it. He thought he had prepared enough in the past few days, but it seemed that fear and uncertainty still threatened to destroy his determination now that the time had come.

"Shut up, dear," said her mother as she hugged her daughter to calm down, concern loomed in her eyes  .

"Don't worry, you can do this my dear," she whispered as she gently rubbed Evie's back.

"Don't forget the reason you had to do this, Evie..."

Her mother kissed her head and although she did not look shaken, Evie could feel the anxiety and distress within her mother.

Evi took a deep breath.

"Yes, mother," he answered, smiling forcefully at his mother.

"I can do this."

"Good girl.". her mother hugged her again for one last hug and after a second, her mother nodded at her servant.

"I'll meet the guests now while you're getting ready," she told Evie and after giving a final smile cheering on her daughter, Evie's mother finally left the room.

Evie closed her eyes and her servant immediately approached her. He tried his best to calm his pounding heart, spoke to himself inwardly and told himself that everything would be fine. He was so focused in hardening his resolve that he was a little surprised when the waiter finally spoke.

"You look amazing, madam." Evie's eyes flew towards the mirror and she observed his reflection. Her hair was styled so beautifully; her face was polished enough to emphasize natural, plain, and beautiful features.

Evie looked at herself calmly. Finally arrived, her wedding day. She used to fantasize about this day when she was young, daydreaming about how magical and wonderful it was to be married to the man of her dreams.

She had seen herself smiling with so much happiness and excitement and excitement as she walked down the aisle towards the groom of her dreams.

But none of his fantasies will happen. Instead of excitement and excitement, his heart was filled with fear and unease.

Well, no one can blame her because like most women in the highest echelons of power, Evie can't choose who to marry.

She was wrong, foolishly thinking she was safe from all this because she was not a princess. However, she was the daughter of the most powerful noble family in the entire Empire.

In the end, he could not escape this fate. In fact, she did not believe she had actually experienced it any worse than anyone she knew, perhaps even more than any of the Empire's princesses in existence. At least the princesses were married to emperors and high-ranking military generals from their neighboring human kingdoms.

Yes, she will also marry a prince but unlike those princesses, her future husband is not a human. And vampires are their enemies, mortal enemies of humans.

"It's time, Madam." The waiter's voice almost made him jump from his seat again. She let out a long sigh .noble women like her were unable to express their dissatisfaction clearly - before she stood up with her head held high, and walked towards the door.

With one last step, she finally stood right in front of the large double door that led to the wedding hall.

''Strengthen yourself, Evi. For the sake of your family and the entire empire, he whispered to himself again and again.

He straightened his shoulders and looked up once more while waiting for the door to open. The moon and stars shine brightly on it.

In her daydream, her wedding day always happened on a sunny day where she would be surrounded by falling petals dancing in the wind. Who would have thought she would marry in the middle of the night and with a creature of the night? Vampire?.

The sky was clear and calm and peaceful. The stars flickered at him but even the calmness of the sky could not ease the turmoil that was within him. His pulse was racing and all he could do was take a deep breath, again and again.

His hands trembled and it took all his strength to hold him back again.

His presence was then announced and finally the procession began.

The hall he entered shouted out luxuries and spoiled the eyes, but contrary to all the splendid splendor that filled the room, the atmosphere was, as expected, tense and heavy.

Very rarely are vampires and humans present under one roof. There was an opportunity, of course, where both races stood under the same roof but the difference this time was that they did not intend to kill each other.

Because of this marriage, the vampires and humans agreed to no truce, the first in history.

As he walked closer to the altar, her long, pointed fingers gripped her dress firmly - an action that guests missed due to her hands being swallowed by the thick folds of her dress - but Evie's eyes remained glued to the floor.

His face was still facing forward but his eyes were fixed on that one point. He can't relax. He felt like he was walking on a thin little road between vampires and human soldiers on the battlefield right before they collided and killed each other.

Above all, she felt like an innocent little lamb voluntarily walking into the butcher's house to be sacrificed, despite being promised that her future husband and the vampires would never hurt her.

The tension was so thick in the air that all he wanted to do was turn around and run away, but he did not. He can't.

Evie could hear nothing but her own loud heartbeat. She couldn't even lift her eyes to peek at her future husband because she was terrified! All his encounters with vampires scared him.

Granted, he didn't see many of them, but five years ago, he found a captured vampire. The vampire bared his sharp teeth, growling in disgust and anger at his captors, and his eyes glowed blood red which was in stark contrast to his overly pale skin. The appearance of this vampire had made Evie horrified. The same goes for the vampire who attacked his carriage a year ago.

He's afraid of all vampires. All humans are afraid of vampires. Vampires are evil monsters that mothers always use to scare their children. However, here he was, about to marry one of them.

Lost in her own fear, Evie does not realize that she has reached the altar and she instantly comes to her senses when a hand appears in her sight. He almost tripped in shock. Staring at that hand, Evie gulped. He only knew this was the hand of the vampire prince he was about to marry.

Slowly, he lifted his eyes, his gaze moving from his hands, to his elbows, to his stomach before stopping at his chest. He took a deep breath in silence before continuing upwards, finally stopping on his face.

And when their eyes met.Evie's heart stopped.
