Marrying the Vampire Prince

Marrying the Vampire Prince
Chapter 52's

Staring uneasily out the window, towards the frontline that even her eyes could not see, Evie remained tense long after Luc had lowered her down according to Gavriel's orders. He somehow felt that the air was heavier and colder, even though the temperature was the same as last night.

Anxiety and worry weighed down on him as if a huge stone was sitting on his chest. He remembered the times in his youth, he and his mother always felt this way whenever his father went to war. It was a terrible feeling. Like he held his breath the entire time and could only breathe again when he finally returned home, alive. And this time, he could clearly feel his anxiety even stronger.

Taking a deep breath, Evie gripped the dagger Gavriel had given her. Tonight, she will do nothing but patiently wait and hope and pray fervently for her husband to be well and keep his promise ... that he would return to his side. He sighed with the knowledge that it would be a very long night.

Meanwhile, on the battlefield, swords flashed and clanged against the others, roars echoed, and there was no shortage of blood and corpses scattered everywhere – as far as the eye could see. Such was the sad outcome of an already large army against another much larger army.

The forces of Gavriel, Samuel, Luc – who have since rejoined his team after driving out Evie, Levy, Reed, and Zolan are scattered into areas where fighting is fiercest, helping out the outnumbered Dacrian army. They were strong, slashing with all their might against the imperial army, tearing them apart as if they were nothing but weak grass around them. Their spirit and strength had revived the fighting spirit of the soldiers and according to what Gavriel had said, it seemed that all their troops needed was to see their strength unleashed onto their enemies and they would rise up and fight with everything they had.

Although there were still too many imperial soldiers crowding them, the soldiers were now fighting with their full strength and potential, and that was enough. Everyone must fight with everything they have to help their prince win the war and protect Dacria.

The fight between Gavriel and the two mixed-blooded vampires is fierce. These two half-blooded were extremely strong. They are among the five greatest warriors in the entire vampire kingdom. Their abilities and strength were truly unrivalled. That was why they were feared and considered as the national treasures of the empire. However, in reality, Gavriel knew that it was only a glorified weapon to be used by their ruler.

Gavriel's sword is fast and deadly, and is repeatedly crushed against the half-blooded Gallas. Gallas was physically standing much bigger than Gavriel and the supernatural power he possessed as expected, nothing out of the ordinary. One swing from such a huge creature would make hordes of soldiers fly, dying from the impact.

The power of each attack was too strong that several times Gavriel almost lost his sword grip. But the prince has proven himself faster. He dodged every swing that went in and then another until he suddenly appeared behind a large blaster and hit him at a critical point from behind.

As expected, Gallas' skin was hard as armor, but Gavriel still managed to make a huge wound that made the blaster roar with anger and pain.

Gavriel was still stuck in a leap in the air as Leon pointed the spear at him. The spear came towards him quickly and was not like a huge arrow. Gavriel dodged and his spear missed, but Gallas swung his fist and came towards him. The prince managed to react by blocking with his hand as he could not dodge in time and caught his punch. But the punch was so powerful that he was thrown a few steps and smashed into the wall.

The crossbreds walked towards the wall where Gavriel landed, swinging their death fists around and killing the Dacrian soldiers who tried to block their way as if they had just torn apart a figure made of rice paper. None of Gavriel's five men came to his rescue even though some of them saw what happened.

Gallas snorted as he stood there, looking at the shattered stone rubble. "I'm very much looking forward to this war, thinking that we will face some kind of challenge. But it seems the crown prince really overestimated this traitorous prince too much." Gallas scoffed, spitting violently into the ground. "I can beat him alone! No need to sweat. I don't understand why the emperor should send the three of us."

"The war is not over. And the prince is not dead either." Leon's voice was flat.

"He might be better off dead. If it were not for the prince's approval that I could claim prince Gavriel's wife as a spoils of war if I took her head and helped her win this war, I will stay with prince Caius in the command tent and let Tau fight him with you." Gallas spat out disdain once again. "It's getting very boring. I think at least he'll last a little longer. I'll just finish him off and go claim his wife. He's not worth my time—"

Before Gallas could take another step closer to the pile of rubble, he stopped. Leon was already on guard as if he had already sensed something before Gallas could even stop.

"Oh, so?" A voice suddenly resounded. They recognized and knew that it was the voice of the traitorous prince, but why did they suddenly feel a strange chill just by hearing his voice? Mixed-blooded vampires do not feel intimidated! Never was! But if so, then what is this?

Gallas and Leon find themselves glued to the ground where they stand as they watch Gavriel rise from the rubble. And when the prince who should have been dead opened his eyes, the air around them changed. The eyes that did not seem to belong to the mere nobles they had just fought with now shone in anger like those of the god of slaughter who had risen from the depths of hell itself.

The blasters instinctively stepped back. Their expressions had changed, especially Gallas. His haughty appearance was now gone, replaced by disbelief and shock. He had prepared to expect many things from this traitorous prince, but this was not one of the possibilities he had imagined ever happened. At all. Leon who rarely showed any emotion also showed a watchful expression on his face and was very clearly looking alert.

Their purple eyes became blood red. Time seemed to come to a halt and the stifling air that enveloped them grew increasingly thick. It was as if they were mired in a swamp and not only did their breath suffocate, but the movements of their limbs also slowed down, like an invisible powerful chain weighing down on them and pulling them back.
