Marrying the Vampire Prince

Marrying the Vampire Prince
chapter 2's

The man in front of her did not look like he expected. His eyes were not as red as blood. His fangs are invisible. In fact, he seemed to have no fangs at all. And. she's not as pale as the vampires she's met before. He's pale in comparison to humans, but he's not as white as vampires like any other vampire he's ever seen. And the most striking thing of all is ... Handsome and amazing.

Evie loses her focus but soon flinches back when she hears someone thumping.

He could not take his eyes off of her as he slowly raised his hand to place it on his outstretched hand. His eyes were silvery-gray, similar to a bright moon, and they were full of life, as if there were many stars revolving within them. Then there are her eyelashes, very long and thick for the size of a man. Her lips, her jaw, her nose, every part of her made her speechless. He had never seen another human being who had been formed with such beauty and perfection. But then again, he remembered that he was not a human from the beginning.

He told himself to throw his face away but for some reason, he couldn't. He felt like he somehow did something to her once their eyes met.

When his hand touched his hand, he almost snapped as his heartbeat grew louder. He led her to stand right next to him before he let go of her hand. When he let go of her hand, he felt a cold air replacing where his hand was and that was when he realized his skin was not cold. He had heard from the human army that vampires were cold-blooded creatures and they were as cold as corpses to the touch.

But his hands were not cold at all. Why that? Why are his hands warm? It couldn't be just his imagination!

Evie did not even have the chance to start pondering this puzzle any further because the ceremony started without delay. Anyone from the outside who looked inside would easily be able to say that everyone was impatiently waiting for this marriage to end. The humans present were eager for the vampires to finally leave this place and their kingdom while the visiting vampires were certainly also looking forward to granting the human wish to leave this place and return to their kingdom by oneself. For once, humans and vampires agree on the same thing.

And thus, as everyone expected, the marriage ended in a hurry.

Evie had attended the wedding of the princess and other nobles before and she almost wanted to grin at the speed they were performing and end what was meant to be the most special occasion of her wedding. But then again, he couldn't blame anyone. No one wanted this marriage from the beginning. Each of them, even the groom and the bride, were forced into this union.

******* a deep and quiet out of Evie's lips as everyone started to move quickly and disperse. He could not believe how quickly the hall became empty.

Her husband offered her hand again. Of course, Evie had already prepared herself for this. He was going to the Northern Empire, the land of vampires, right after the wedding so he had already said goodbye to his family even before the vampires arrived.

Slightly trembling, Evie put her hand on her. Her eyes were hot but she swore not to cry. She looked at her mother as the vampire prince led her towards the door.

Her mother was crying, sobbing at the spot where she was standing, and it took her whole life to stop herself from following in her footsteps. Evie threw away her face, focusing on the path in front of her instead. As the newlyweds reached the door, Evie stopped and looked back one last time. She subconsciously gripped her husband's hand before she turned towards him and finally stepped forward. This was all he could do from now on; to boldly walk into his future, step by step, to figure out what fate had prepared for him.

"Fearful?" His deep and masculine voice echoed within the carriage causing the already tense Evie to flinch.

She realized that she was gripping her dress so hard that her knuckles turned white. He continued to stare out the window, staring blankly at the palace where they had just married, which slowly disappeared from his sight.

With deliberate inaction, Evie turned to face him. When he lifted his face, his perfect face adorned his eyes. Only one thought flashed through his mind as he looked at her. If only... If only he were human.

He answered by shaking his head. Of course, it's a lie. He was scared to death. She knew that her husband ... , her husband was a very beautiful being, because he knew what was really hidden behind all that beauty and perfection.

"I thought the v-vampire didn't get on the train" he stuttered, saying the first thing his mind could think of that had nothing to do with how perfect he was, he said, in his desperation to break the awkward and deafening silence.

And perhaps, also to try and conquer his increasing fear. He needs to relax. There was nothing more he could do. There was no turning back so there was no point in being afraid now.

When she saw the faintest smile on her husband's face, Evie almost forgot to breathe. "really. Usually not necessary" he replied.

"L-then why.." she fell silent realizing that it must be because of him. Her fear is somewhat diminished, knowing that this vampire prince, her husband, is at least considerate.

But then he remembered this was part of the deal. The vampires, especially her husband, are now in charge of her. They have to keep an eye on him and keep him safe whether they like it or not. Even so, Evie was happy that at least her husband, the prince, decided to accompany her on this trip.

"Thank you, y-Your Majesty."

The direct response is*******soft.

"Evielyn," she called out and Evie didn't know why, but she took a breath. The sound of his name being spoken by him suddenly sent a strange and strange feeling through him.

"Do you know my name?" She asked.

"T-of course."

"Good then."

"Yes, you .. uh, I mean, Prince Gavriel."

His brows furrowed, making Evie involuntarily flinch. "Without the Prince, Evielyn."

"G-gavriel," he said obediently as his eyes wandered. Surprisingly, this was somehow not as difficult as he had imagined.

Evie never thought she would one day find herself married to a vampire, a creature she, and every human, believed to be a beast.

She thought she might not be able to speak at all to her husband without shaking, but somehow, talking to him wasn't as bad as she thought. He was tense and stammered but he was happy, he did not fall silent from fear and he did not tremble before him as he thought.

Gavriel leaned his head against the wall and closed his eyes.

"Vampires promise that no one, including me your husband, can touch you without your consent. Your father and the human emperor made us take that oath. I'm sure you know that vows are sacred to us. We rarely swear because we do not break the oath. We can't" he said suddenly without looking at her. His eyes remain closed.

"That should be enough to assuage your fears."
