As Evie was led by the maids out of the prince's room, her eyes did not stop looking around. The corridor outside the room was spacious and there was a chandelier hanging above the high ceiling.
A door at the end of the corridor seemed to lead to an open veranda which would definitely be the perfect place to enjoy the scenery. In Evie's mind, she imagined it to be a place where people could sit, relax and enjoy the beautiful garden scenery while enjoying a nice cup of tea. His family's castle in the Southern Empire had an incredible garden that he had always admired and spent whatever spare time he could there.
"Where is this place?" Evie asked her servant as they went down the spiral staircase.
"We're not in the imperial capital yet, are we?"
Fray and Gina looked at him confusedly and then surprised. But they finally smiled.
"You're already in the imperial capital, Miss. This is the prince's palace."
Evie paused for a moment before continuing walking. So that's why this place is quite luxurious and large. Even more beautiful than Ylvia Castle, its home. But how did he arrive at this place so quickly? It shouldn't be possible with their speed using the carriage, right? Did Gavriel end up taking him all the way from the Valley of Darkness to the imperial capital? But he said it was too dangerous for him. So how did he bring her here so quickly?
As soon as they arrived at the dining room, Evie was blown away by the sight that greeted her. His eyes sparkled as he observed how complicated and majestic the hall was.
He had always imagined the vampire palace and the palace was a rather dark, creepy and ominous place for human habitation, but once again, he was shown to be repeatedly wrong in his assumptions so far. The place was very neat and well maintained. In fact, everything is perfect.
He even saw many seemingly luxurious materials that he had never seen inside the grand palaces of the Southern empire. It seems that vampires love a beautiful abode filled with elegance and luxury.
Gavriel was sitting at the end of a table long enough to hold twenty adults. Her moon-like eyes locked onto him as she entered the double door of the hall.
Silently and a little nervous, Evie sat down next to him. His movements were stiff and awkward. Never in her wildest dreams - or perhaps nightmares, did she think they would actually sit down and eat together. When he ate before crossing the Valley of Darkness, he did not join him.
The prince did not speak but Evie could feel his sharp gaze on his face. He could not force himself to raise his face to look at her.
"Evielyn's..."
"Yes?!" Evie immediately exclaimed, flinched at the same time as she was jolted by her heavy voice that called out her name and finally looked at her.
A heavy silence enveloped the hall as their eyes locked before the noble prince caught his lips between his teeth. His pleasant and calm expression became slightly dark.
Realizing that her reaction did not make her happy, Evie gulped and nervously turned her gaze to the juicy and delicious-looking steak in front of her. His mouth was watering and his empty stomach was screaming at him, for a moment distracting him from his predicament.
He was so hungry that the sight of the juicy steak seemed to momentarily mask the effect of Gavriel's self-destructive presence.
Evie's lips opened as she blinked at him. He was speechless and dazed as the prince started slicing the steak without a sound. He looked serious and graceful. How could he make cutting steak look like it was some kind of honorable task?! Waitaminute! That's not the problem here. Why would he take a steak from her?!
When he stabbed a piece of steak with his fork, Evie could only follow him as he moved it. The steak stopped right in front of her lips and seeing her thin lips made Evie sober. He can't believe what he's doing! But before he could look away, he reached out his hand and the piece of steak suddenly sat near his mouth.
Its fragrant aroma made its mouth water even more.
His eyes widened as he looked at her. What the hell is he doing?
"Open your mouth, wife." She said, her expression was gentle and her eyes seemed to smile at him.
Evie's jaw dropped when she realized that she was trying to feed him.
He thought of the action as he opened his mouth voluntarily and he moved the steak closer. The tender flesh touched her lips gently and before she realized it, her lips opened, and her red and plump lips greedily stuffed the steak into her mouth.
He shocked himself with what he was doing but before he could even scold himself for giving up on temptation so easily, the heavenly sense of a piece of flesh in his mouth made him forget everything. Good Lord! This was the most delicious steak she had ever tasted in her life.
The prince was silent for a moment seeing Evie's reaction. And when she closed her eyes as if she was enjoying something really good, the corners of her lips curved into a thin smile. This was the first time he had shown this expression to her. He thinks he's very funny...
"You like it?"
"Yes." Yeah." Even his voice now sounded like melted honey. This is unexpected. Gavriel thought he would tense up again or flinch every time he spoke. But he didn't do it and he smiled again as he stabbed another piece of steak with his fork and placed it on his lips.
Evie ate the steak without hesitation.
"Oh my God, this is so delicious!!" He sighed in real pleasure, making Gavriel's thin smile even wider. He looked at his lips as he slowly chewed on the meat and adored its taste at the same time, when suddenly.
He began to imagine how delicious he was once he finally felt those lips that were visible in his eyes. Would she be so delicious that she would forget all the things when she felt her lips? .
A hint of tension started to build up in his muscles and the moment he realized his body's reaction, he froze. He even felt fine hairs growing on the back of his neck. 'Heaven', ' murmured Gavriel softly. He could not believe he had these kinds of thoughts and reactions in places and situations like this. This was the first time something like this had happened to him. He even had to force his gaze away from his face to clear his mind. But when he gave her another piece of steak, her words really enraged him.
"It's so delicious, it's definitely the best I've ever tasted!"
Suddenly, Gavriel finds herself glaring at the steak in front of her. As they say, if appearances can kill...Steak RIP.
