He's Not The Best

He's Not The Best
3. Me And That Man

Me And That Man

Winsi fell silent and found himself unable to do anything as the car drove. He did not like the friends who only knew at a glance it set, because they were not familiar and, only knew because they often met, a school was not. Erlan's family rarely get along with the local community, even the girl never knew what her mother was like. As per the innocence of the little boy, he thought that the woman who gave birth to Erlan must be like a beautiful angel and always wear nice clothes when outside or at home.

Unlike his mother Runa—, he never wore a nice shirt, except when Lebaran arrived, it was the same clothes in previous years, his appearance was so-so, never changed.

Arriving at Erlan's magnificent and spacious house, Winsi gaped. Indeed, all this time he had never seen part of his courtyard because the gate was never open. In fact, he often took public transportation if he wanted to go to the market with his mother. The large building seemed haughty, as if there was no place for a poor person like him there.

Winsi throttled, shrugging off his hopes of seeing the inside of the house, believing Erlan could not allow it.

Yes, and sure enough, when the car had stopped in the garage, Hasnu, the man called by Erlan's father, came down and entered the house in a hurry. He must immediately meet the great master who needs help to bring the elderly Grandpa Erlan to the hospital because he is the only person the old man trusts to bring a car van's.

Meanwhile, Erlan was still in the car, she patted the dumb-looking Winsi on the shoulder, rude.

“Heh! Wait here, for a minute,” he said, expressionless, his face and voice flat.

“Yes! Cepetan,” said Winsi stammered, not expecting Erlan would pat her shoulder.

“Where are you going, si? Kan, you just knew getting into people's cars don't excuse me!”

“Yes, you also bring people with you without permission!”

“I'm not wrong, right, you are entering carelessly!”

“Yes, than I was beaten Father mending I just come in to hide!”

“What?” erlan asked, while looking at Winsi as soon as she was very surprised, making her brows furrow. He had seen Basri walking in a hurry while carrying a belt, not expecting the clasp to be used to hit his own son.

Erlan's question made Winsi close her mouth tightly with both hands. He unintentionally, said things that he had never told anyone before, including Meri. His best friend did not know about Basri who always beat him when he was at home and, even worse, the man always called him an illegitimate child. It would be a shame if someone else knew that he was an illegitimate child.

As Winsi knew, as Mr. Ustad said if he taught, haram was something that should not be eaten or used by a Muslim, such as pork, alcoholic beverages or blood. But he is human, why is he said to be haram, does that mean he is not edible?

“Oh, so you were hiding from someone who wanted to hit you like that?” erlan asked, he seemed to understand the situation well, he was a clever boy. Unexpectedly, Winsi nodded, the sign confirming the teenage boy's words, but in her heart she blamed herself.

“You do not know the same person whose name is Anas?” asked Winsi suddenly, as Erlan was about to open the car door. The teenage boy turned his head and saw the little girl at the side staring at him fixedly. The clear sparkle and pliable eyelashes grazed over and over again, like emitting millions of tiny stars, making him reluctant to look away, for a few moments.

“Who? The anas? I have a gardener named Anas. But I don't know, the person you're looking for, he or she isn't.” Erlan replied flatly, after which opening the door and descending.

Winsi remained hidden in the car, silent and harboring fear just in case anyone was angry because of his existence. He looked out the window, towards the house that for him only a princess of the king deserved.

Not spared from the sight of Winsi, a man who was dressed neatly with a white shirt stellan and black pants similar to Erlan, his body was tall, his skin was white and looked dignified. According to Winsi, it is the man who deserves to be called the father, rather than the man who is the driver.

The girl took a deep breath, trying to guess who all those people really were and what it had to do with Erlan, strangely enough, there was not a single woman there.

Before long he realized the car door was open, he saw Erlan had changed clothes and was wearing a helmet that covered almost half of his face. There's a matick motor nearby. Winsi was surprised because he did not hear the sound of the motor approaching him, but he knew, Erlan signaled him to come out with a movement of his head.

Winsi was still hesitant, because the van was still there and a tall and well-dressed man was staring at him, even now walking up to him.

“Erlan, where are you going?” asked the man in a heavy voice, looking at Erlan and Winsi in turn. He's Arkan Erlan's biological father who has been living abroad, running his own restaurant business. Now he's home because of Badru—his father, is sickly and can no longer run his e-store business in the city.

“You drove Winsi home, Dad.” Erlan said without hesitation. The two men faced each other while Winsi was already standing beside the car with a look of fear and shame together.

‘Dad? So where exactly is Erlan's father, si?’ Winsi sat down, making her eyebrows furrow.

“Who, him? Your schoolmate?” ask the man again. Making Winsi's feelings not desirable, the man had a strong aura that sucked attention, but the girl was afraid, but could not take her eyes off the man's facial features that were very pleasing to her.

“Not, Dad. He is the son of Mr. Basri and Bu Runa, neighbors near the old house and the sand mountain.” Erlan replied straightforwardly. Rumah Winsi is indeed located near an uninhabited house, the pendududk there call it an old house and next to it again there is a sand dune to repair the old house, but since the owner died, the old house has been, the tall sand dune resembling a mountain was abandoned.

“Children Runa? Why is he here?” The man's brows furrowed deeply as he said, he walked closer to the wini, even rubbing his head gently.

“Later, deh. Erlan told me the same story. Heh, buluk boy, come on!” When Erlan said, he was already on his bike, looking dashing and cool in the eyes of Winsi. Understand the children of rich people, so it does not matter to have a motor at his age that is still young.

“My house is close, really. Do not need to be delivered okay,” said Winsi slightly stuttered, not expecting if the man would be so gentle with him.

“Heh! Let's hurry, I want you all to go. Coincidentally one way, kok.” Erlan said slightly up.

After hearing that, Winsi rushed up to the top of Erlan's motorbike, while her eyes were still fixed on the man, who was now smiling very kindly at her.

‘I think the owner of this house is fierce, do not know he is good!’ inward Winsi, while lowering his gaze.

Two vehicles drove slowly at the same time, until a guard opened the gate, for his employers. The van moves behind Erlan's motorbike. However, when the motorbike was about to go back to the streets, there was a man who carried a sickle across them. Erlan stopped the speed of the motor suddenly.

“Mang Anas!” call Erlan to the man.
