Great Marshals
Chapter 20

Everyone can't believe their ears.

Lacey had just rejected the proposal of the Grand Marshal.

"May I know why?" Lone Wolf asked.

"The Great Marshal proposed to me because he felt he owed me. I'm not looking forward to a loveless marriage" Lacey explained. "To be honest, we don't live in the same world either. Plus, I already have a husband."

Lacey turned to look at Zeke.

Lone Wolf wanted to say something, but Zeke stopped him with a sharp look.

"so... Then, we will respect Ms.'s decision. Hinton," said Lone Wolf and gestured for the army to retreat. "Honorable guests, please, enjoy your meal."

The crowd finally calmed down and sat down respectively.

As Madeleine and Emily sat quietly, Lone Wolf looked at them and scolded, "What are you two doing? Join the waiters! How dare you try to sit with these VIPs?"

Emily and Madeleine couldn't hide their shame. Zeke was right again.

They stumbled into a corner and joined the other servants.

"Lacey, why did you refuse the marshal?" Zeke asked after they sat down.

"I'm just an ordinary citizen. There's no way I'm a match for someone as special as the Big Marshal" Lacey explained. "In addition, I don't think I can get used to such a luxurious life."

Zeke could only smile warmly.

Special? Goody. I'll make you a special woman first. Not used to a luxurious life? Then I will make your business successful first!

The waiters began to serve food. It may have been an act of God, but both Emily and Madeleine were placed at the table where the Hinton were sitting.

Emily takes a huge hit due to a sudden change in their status.

Hannah would not waste that chance. He quickly pulled out his phone and photographed Clemons.

Emily and her mother were furious, but they could do nothing.

The ceremony ended in a few hours.

As soon as Hinton's family came out of the hall, Hannah scolded Lacey. "Seriously... How can you be so stupid? Are you trying to kill me?"

"It's not too late to accept the marshal's proposal" Daniel added. "This is the only chance for our family to shine."

Lacey just nodded silently.

"Don't worry, I can make you successful even without the name of the Great Marshal" Zeke said.

"You? You dare compare yourself to a marshal?" Daniel reprimanding. "Have you forgotten that you work for Lacey? You don't even have a position to say that."

"So! The reason we can enter the Great Ceremony is because of Lacey. You dare take all that praise?" Hannah scolds Zeke. "I warned. You should return to whatever ditch you came from if Lacey decides to marry a marshal! Let's go!"

An older couple walked into their car as Lacey looked at Zeke with mixed feelings.

The woman knew that things were not as simple as they seemed.

The Hinton and Clemons families both arrived back in their districts at about the same time.

The whole neighborhood is waiting to welcome Emily back to try and get on her good side.

 everyone thought Emily had become the Grand Marshal's wife. As Emily got out of her car, the neighbors quickly surrounded her and cheered.

One of the neighbors who had always hated Hannah cheered the loudest.
