Chapter 56 THE BEGINNING OF LIES
Kanaya woke up at exactly 3am and found her bed empty. He realized that Reino had not returned home.
Where are you mas? his mind began to get agitated.
To calm the mind Kanaya decided to pray the night. He immediately ablution then pray, asking to be given strength and calmness of heart. She mentioned Reino's name in her prayer, asking God to keep her husband out of all danger.
When Kanaya had just finished praying, there was the sound of the door opening. She looked up and saw her husband come in.
"Mas, just got home?" kanaya asked to make sure.
Reino put his car keys on the dresser.
"Yes, honey. I'm gonna change clothes first. I'm tired." she replied.
Kanaya folds her newly released mukena then immediately picks up Reino's pajamas.
"This is what I helped you with."
Reino took off the jacket and clothes he was wearing and gave them to his wife. As she was about to put it in the laundry basket, Kanaya smelled another perfume on Reino's jacket. She was sure it was not the perfume her husband used to wear.
Whose perfume is it? Kanaya.
For a while Kanaya was stunned where she stood. He wondered if Reino was hiding something from him.
"Darling?" call Reino.
"Yes, mas. A moment."
Kanaya put down Reino's clothes and then immediately came out of the bathroom.
"Do you need anything?"
Reino squirmed on the bed, his eyes already half closed.
"No, honey. I'm going to bed. Come here." pinta Reino patting the bed.
Kanaya climbed onto the bed then lay down on Reino's side. His mind is raging. He wanted to express the anxiety he was feeling right now.
"Mas, can I ask you something?" ask Kanaya carefully.
"Yes, honey. Ask what?" reino answered while changing his sleeping position. He rested his head on the wife's chest
"Where can you go?" kanaya asked finally ventured.
Reino's eyes opened, he didn't expect Kanaya to ask that.
Flashback..
"Hello?" ketus Reino answered the call.
"Hello, Rei. It's me, Nina."
Reino was silent for a moment after finding out who called him these nights.
"Rei, can you help me? My car broke down on the road, I don't know why. It's so quiet in here. I'm scared, Rei. I beg. I was near the city park." explained Nina in fear.
"All right, wait there. Don't go anywhere." Reino's voice sounded worried.
Arriving at the city park, Reino sees Nina sitting on the sidewalk hugging herself. The cold night wind made Nina's body shiver.
"I'm sorry, Rei, it makes you bother coming here these nights. I called your secretary for help but her daughter was sick and could not be left behind. I had to ask for your phone number."
"It's okay, Nin. Don't you think about it. I'll drive you. Where do you live?"
"I'm staying at a hotel."
"All right, let's go now. It's so cold in here. Tomorrow I'll have people take care of your car." take Reino. He also took off the jacket he was wearing and gave it to Nina.
"wear this. Your body is shivering."
Flashback..
I'm sorry Nay, for now I can't be honest with you.
"So there was a friend of mine who needed help. He's from out of town so there's no relatives in Jakarta, baby."
"Sorry, my lady, is your friend a girl?" ask Kanaya again.
Reino remained silent.
"No, honey. Men."
This time it was Kanaya who was silent. He tried to hold back the turmoil in his heart.
Are you lying, Mom? ask his heart to be deep. A clear thread welled up in the corner of Kanaya's eye.
"Sleep, mas. You must be tired." said Kanaya as she got out of bed.
"Where are you going, baby?"
"I'm going to the kitchen. Soon it was dawn." replied Kanaya, leaving the room without looking at her husband. He quickly wiped away his tears that had not yet dripped.
Reino looked at his wife's back and disappeared behind the door.
I'm sorry, Nay. Did I hurt your heart?

The clock on the wall shows at 9am. Reino woke up because the sunlight from the bedroom window blinded his eyes.
"Darling?" call him, but there is no answer from outside the room.
Reino woke up. He searched Kanaya throughout the room.
Where the hell is he??
While crossing the dining table, Reino saw the dishes had been arranged neatly there. There was a piece of paper tucked under the glass.
Mas, sorry, I left for work without waking up. I see you're so tired. Don't forget the breakfast.
Reino put the paper back on the table.
Are you mad at me, baby?
Reino rushed back to the room to pick up his phone. He intends to contact his wife.
Calling Kanaya...
"Assalamualaikum, ma'am."
"Wa'alaikumsalam, baby. Are you in the office?"
"Yes, mas. Sorry I left first. Did you go to the office today?"
"I'm going to the office, baby. I'll be leaving soon."
"Alright, mas. I hung up, I still have work. Assalamualaikum, mas."

Kanaya hung up. He put his phone back in his pocket and continued his work cleaning the HRD room.
