Chapter 54 KARENINA

The two of them were still glued together, staring at each other in disbelief. The world feels very narrow because in fact destiny has managed to bring them back together now.

Nina chose to approach. His gaze could not be separated from the man. Realizing Reino was as surprised as he was, he tried to get closer. The two stood facing each other at such a close distance that Reino could see both of Nina's clear eyeballs. It was like being bewitched, he could look back on his past with that woman.

"How are you, Rei? I can't believe I can see you again right now." the first sentence slid straight out of Nina's mouth.

Reino took a deep breath, wanting to eliminate the tightness that suddenly squeezed his chest.

Why did God bring us back now? Reino.

"I'm doing fine. Please sit down." replied Reino a little doubtful, he chose to dodge.

Nina followed Reino sitting on the sofa, facing each other. The mood for a moment was silent. Both of them seemed awkward to start making noises.

Amidst the silence of the two, Maya suddenly enters with a pile of files in her hand.

"Sorry, sir. This is the project document that Miss Karenina brought." Maya said.

Karenina, Reino repeated in her heart, a name that had once ruled her heart.

Reino received the files and read them one by one. He tried to focus his mind on work, not on the woman in front of him.

Meanwhile, Nina's heart was still pounding since the unexpected encounter with Reino earlier. The man in front of her looked much different, more manly and more mature than the last time they met.

"So you're the representative of the Hutama group?" tanya Reino started a conversation about the project. He hopes to be as reasonable as possible, as it is to talk to a client.

"really. I'm the one leading the branch in Batam" he said trying to keep up with the professional attitude Reino showed.

Serious discussions about the cooperation project between the RR group and Hutama group can distract the two from the shadows of the past that suddenly dance in their minds.

Without feeling an hour has passed. Nina finally ended the meeting that morning saying goodbye to Reino.

"I hope our company cooperation can run smoothly" Nina said before leaving. Maya stands up to take Nina out.

"Hopefully. Call my secretary if you need anything." Reino said.

Karenina reached out her hand. Although at first hesitant, Reino finally wanted to shake his hand. For the first time they've touched again since the breakup a few years ago. There was a strange vibration they felt in their hearts.

Reino let out a deep breath when he saw Nina disappear from behind the door.

God, why did he have to show up again in my life?

"Om, where's Kanaya? He said he wanted me?" sesilia asked for a promise that afternoon.

Reino looked at the watch in his hand. At 1pm.

"Sorry about it? A little while ago playing by myself. A lot of work today."

Reino grabbed the phone at his desk.

"Good, sir. Immediately." Maya replied with a smile.

Shortly afterwards Kanaya entered Reino's room with a cheerful Cecilian face.

"Mom, Nay!" exclaim Sesil happy. Kanaya's hand was drawn to follow her sitting on the sofa.

"Yes, sweetie slow down dong."

Reino paused his work for a moment and joined them on the sofa.

"Well, baby?" whispered Reino quietly as Sesil was busy playing with his gadget.

Kanaya shakes. He had not had time to eat lunch because Maya asked him to immediately go to Reino's room earlier.

"I'm a pesenin, right? We're eating here." haggard Reino.

"What do you want to eat, baby?" kanaya asked the little girl.

"I want sushi, mbak." pinta Sesilia without looking. He was playing a game.

Reino grabs the phone and starts ordering food at the request of his beloved niece.

"Secile, if you play hp don't be too tight, baby. Your eyes will be damaged." said Kanaya warned.

The lady looked over and smiled adorable.

"Yes, mom. Is this how?" he answered while keeping the cellphone away from both round eyes. After that, he was back in the game.

Kanaya turned her gaze to Reino who was sitting behind her desk. She saw her husband pensive as if daydreaming about something.

"What's up, ma'am? How does Reino daydream?" kanaya asked quietly not to be heard by Sesil.

Reino flinched from his daydream.

"There's nothing, baby" he said lying because actually, his mind was on the sudden arrival of Karenina.

Kanaya smiled, although she could actually feel something strange at the suaminy attitude. Not usually Reino daydreams.

Is there something you're thinking, Mom?

"Mr, look here. I don't know how to play." call Sesilia.

Kanaya approached and sat down beside Caecilia to accompany her to play. However, his thoughts had instead returned to Reino. She felt her husband was thinking about something.

What's wrong with you, mas?
