Tok.dok....
The sound of knocking on the door was heard several times. Kanaya's mother, who had just finished her morning prayers, immediately got up to open the door.
Still wearing a mukena, the mother opened the door.
"Assynolajet. Sorry to bother you." Reino said politely.
Kanaya's mother was confused because she did not know who the man who came in the morning was blind.
"Wa'alaikumsalam's chat. You who?"
"I'm Reino, ma'am."
The deg! Kanaya's mother's heart seemed to want to be dislodged hearing the name called.
"Ooh.ma.mari entered." the mother let Reino in.
Reino enters then sits in the living room while Kanaya's mother goes inside to call Kanaya who is making tea in the kitchen.
"Mother. Kanaya.." call the mother while teegopoh-gopoh.
"What's up, ma'am? How are you scared, anyway?"
The mother tries to regulate the breath in order to speak more clearly.
"There's a guest, nduk. In front."
"Who's mom?" kanaya asked increasingly curious.
Who's this early in the morning visiting?
With quick steps Kanaya immediately exited towards the living room. And how shocked the girl was after seeing who was in front of her.
"Mas Reino?"
Reino walked over to Kanaya and immediately hugged the girl without caring if the mother was looking at her.
"I'm worried about you, baby." she said without taking Kanaya off.
Kanaya momentarily carried away. He hugged the man tightly for the sake of shedding his heart. He did not expect that Reino was in front of him right now.
"I'm sorry, mas." isak Kanaya finally unstoppable.
Reino frowned not understanding.
"Sorry for what, baby?"
Kanaya turned to her mother for support as she was completely unable to explain everything to Reino.
"Sit down, son." ask Reino's mother.
Reino reaches out to the sofa followed by Kanaya and her mother.
"Son Reino forgive mom. It's all mom's fault."
"Why are you two sorry?"
Kanaya bowed, she sobbed slowly. I can't seem to look at Reino's face.
"Son, Reino, Kanaya just got betrothed."
"Whataa?!!"
Reino stood up and walked over to Kanaya who was sitting in front of him. The man knelt while clutching Kanaya's fingers.
"Explain to me, baby. I don't get it."
"I'm sorry. It's my fault for never being frank with mom about our relationship."
"Son, Reino, Kanaya's father just had heart surgery. And the entire cost was borne by his good friend, Mr. Dibyo. When Kanaya just returned from Jakarta, Mr. Dibyo apparently interested in matching his son with Kanaya. Because we felt indebted, we finally accepted the proposal without asking Kanaya first. At that time I thought she didn't have a boyfriend so what's wrong with accepting the proposal." obviously the mother felt bad.
"I don't care ma'am. I'll talk to the Dibyo family. Quickly tell me where their home address is!" lecar Reino was carried away by emotions. He doesn't want to lose Kanaya.
"Don't mas! Please don't go there! I don't want my father's pain to recur if I know about this problem. He has great respect for Mr. Dibyo. Don't destroy their good relationship mas." said Kanaya in between sobs.
"But this one-sided decision has ruined our relationship, Nay!"
Reino scooped his face in frustration. He didn't think this could happen. If only Kanaya would accept Reino's help from the beginning, of course, it would not be like this in the end.
Ah hell...!!! it's in the heart.
"Mother, please calm down, your father will soon return from prayer. Don't let him hear you fight."
Kanaya wiped her tears before leaving for the bathroom. While Reino remained sitting with Kanaya's mother in the living room. His breathing rose and fell withholding emotions.
"Assalamualaik."
Mr. Karno just returned from Surau for the congregational dawn prayer. His steps stopped when he saw his wife was in the living room with someone he had never known before.
"A guest, ma'am?"
"Yes sir. This is the new Reino coming from Jakarta. He's Kanaya's friend."
Reino stood up to Kanaya's father and kissed the back of his hand.
"I'm Reino, sir. Sorry so early I came to visit."
Mr. Karno reviewed the smile and told Reino to sit with him on the sofa.
"Mom, are there guests who are not treated to drink? This mother piye anyway, this Reino boy must be tired because of the long journey. Make some warm tea, ma'am."
The mother rushed to the kitchen to make a drink. There, he finds Kanaya daydreaming.
"Snack, make some tea. Your father has gone home."
Kanaya nodded. His mind is really fucked up right now. Reino's arrival followed him to the village was clearly never imagined by him. That man could easily find her.
"Hopefully Reino didn't ask me about this issue either, ma'am. Nay is afraid of you drop." said Kanaya while stirring the drink she made.
"We just pray nduk. Now take this forward."
Kanaya brought two cups of warm tea and a plate of fried bananas for the father and Reino in the living room.
...***...
"I'll say goodbye, sir, ma'am." said Reino that afternoon to Kanaya's parents. He decided to calm his mind first at the hotel that his men had prepared.
Kanaya escorted Reino to the gate. He chose to walk behind Reino. He looked at the man's straight back. Honestly, it felt like he was hugging Reino and revealing everything he felt. Although now he is bound by status with others but his heart still belongs to Reino.
"Mas.." call Kanaya when Reino wants to get in the car.
Reino stopped and looked. Kanaya looked at him with a sad eye. There was disappointment clearly on his face.
"Yes, Nay?"
"I'm sorry, ma'am" he said no matter how many times he told Reino.
"It's not goodbye, Nay. I'll definitely be back."
Reino gets into the car and leaves the Kanaya residence.
"Bram, quickly find out everything about this man." Reino orders a name and address to his confidant.
I won't let you take my lover.
Apparently from a conversation with Kanaya's father, Reino gets the address of Galih's house. Inwardly he swore he would make a reckoning with her for daring to take Kanaya from her.
