"I don't want to fight you on purpose. This is the mask I wear to interact with her. I want to fight for you if you let me."
Yeri busied herself by separating large bags of chips into three bowls, each with a color that represented the taste of those chips; the soothing soft music throughout the apartment echoed through the open kitchen she was currently in. He prepared their meals, while the other boys were in the living room watching somber romantic movies while laughing. Yeri was usually not the one who was given the task to distribute food, but seeing the frown that Jungkook gave her all day had already begun to exhaust her. So, as a way to keep his sanity on the right path, he volunteered to prepare their chips .
It's not like he's got a problem with chips, really. It was rather heartbreaking to be among the dozens of bags, with various shapes and types that he could not afford, his hands confusedly went into one bag and scooped up some chips, he said, to directly put it in the mouth where no one was looking, while keeping the crumbling sound between his teeth from being heard. Yeri is ridiculous like that.
His moment of excitement was sadly interrupted by the same boy he had been avoiding, the heat from his burning gaze and his irresistible body stuck behind his head, staring at him, and, a predator in a cage with a prey. He would never admit it; he never did, but he always made it his only mission to focus on his eyes. He did not understand whether it was ego or some sort of talisman that he had; keeping the gaze of his arch-enemy for a long time, but he learned to ignore Jeon Jungkook's strange movements all the time.
Returning to himself, Jungkook kicked his way from the kitchen entrance and headed towards Yeri, where Jungkook was casually standing beside Yeri while staring at Yeri's hand that opened the bag of chips and placed it in the bowl; his eyes were raised to look at Yeri's face by her side, the same old frown, the same old frown, what he always kept for Yeri was clearly shown on his face. Jungkook is clearly seeking recognition, his eyes sparkling and open; dangerous, and his body clinging close to Yeri's in front of the counter, his hips threatening to advance by his own drive to get closer, they just had to sweep the shadow of the distance between them. Yeri knew what she wanted, but she decided to ignore it. That was the best of what he could do about the boy.
Knowing that Yeri would ignore her presence considering that it was the only thing Yeri had done to her. He then grabbed the bowl that Yeri was holding, took it from Yeri's hand, made Yeri look at her and look for what Yeri did not meet, jungkook quickly picked up the full bowl that had been prepared earlier in Yeri's hands. Then, he looked at her again, his eyebrows raised as if asking what Yeri would do now. Knowing the childish thing Jungkook did and keeping him trapped, Yeri did not say anything and only returned her gaze, her similar brows appearing to mock Jungkook.
Jungkook felt what Yeri was doing was funny, and smiled slightly, before clearing his throat, nodding his head towards the large blue bowl that Yeri had previously filled. "I'll take this first."
"Wait, it belongs to Suho." Yeri said to Jungkook, and tried to grab the bowl from Jungkook's hand, without thinking that Jungkook could have taken another bowl with his other hand. After predicting this, Jungkook easily avoided Yeri's hand holding tightly to her hand.
"I'll deal with it," she rolled her eyes, "Again to do your job, honey."
"Don't hunt me down." Although he wanted his tone to look angry and upset, the fact that came out of Yeri's mouth was nothing more than a mutter. It was time for Yeri to clear her throat. "Suho, he entrusted me with this because he knows the kind of behavior you have. I can't let you have it."
"Oh yeah?" Jungkook defiantly, while stepping closer to Yeri with eyes flashing alive with a fire that is always burning whenever he is around Yeri. Yeri again gives him a casual look; Yeri had seen Jungkook's appearance last month when he met Jungkook through Suho. Jungkook didn't scare her. "What are you gonna do? Will you drag me and pull my collar off me?"
Yeri did not say anything, her eyes slowly became irritated as Jungkook liked, no, liked to look down on her, as if Yeri was nothing but a child who needed to be scolded at all times to teach her manners. However, Yeri found a more difficult way to retaliate, so she continued to stare at him, irritated and exhausted, her lips dikulum together silently.
Jungkook's eyes sparkled, knowing that Yeri found him annoying, childish and terrible, every kind of bad synonym that defined him and his actions towards Yeri. He took one step forward, the sole of his shoes that too often kissed the floor rang out loud over the silence that enveloped him. "Say, honey, what are you going to do?"
"Maybe it's a good idea to talk about it with Suho," Yeri turned around, as if her weight was nothing more than dust on her shirt, and returned to sort the chips into the bowl, not interested in Jungkook's childish nature. He worked silently; nonchalantly, and Jungkook slowly clenched his free hand into a tight fist. "After all, this is her chip bag. We were also at his house, in honor of his own party. You might want to have a peaceful offering instead of her chips, or, "Yeri waves around a different bowl of chips that have been prepared before, blinking her eyes as she looks at Jungkook, who is looking at her, as his lips pursed in dissatisfaction, "You can choose different bowls from these different flavors. Why do you even want to fight? "
Jungkook swallowed his growing nerve, which he had, looking away from Yeri so that she did not see the irritation and anger growing in her eyes (which Yeri had actually seen) her jaw locked in place like an angry child, her body tense. She took a deep breath and then turned to Yeri, a faint smile growing on her face.
"I said I'd deal with him."
"I'm in charge of crafting chips," Yeri retorted, sighing heavily and sounding tired, "I think it's better I take a bowl for him."
"Who are you, the dog? Why are you so loyal? " Jungkook squinted at her, as if he told Yeri that he ate raw worms in the morning for breakfast, Jungkook pouted just like his face. "This is just a bowl of chips that he can afford to buy three times out of four. You take your work too seriously. "
"I'm the one who takes this too seriously?" Yeri dropped her work on the chips and turned towards Jungkook, her eyes slightly larger than usual with a look of disbelief, annoyance, unlike her previous feelings, now her feelings were gone.
Jungkook looked at him with a judgmental look, his eyes dissatisfied. "Yes, you. You're the one who argued about it. I'll just take it and go. "
"But it's not yours - you know what?" Yeri let out a deep sigh, her huge sighing sound rang out in silence throughout the kitchen, unperturbed by anyone but the two of them. "You can deal with Suho's own anger. I don't give a shit. I wish Suho burned you with an expensive lightsaber. "
"That's a good spirit, baby." Jungkook said, there was a small, ball-like light flashing as a sign of approval in his dark brown eyes; his lips curled upwards to reveal a happy smile. Yeri simply rolled her eyes, fiddling with the slightly rough bag to express her anger. He stayed a little longer before he left; he watched Jungkook from the corner of his eyes and his legs still standing next to him. Yeri had no idea what else Jungkook wanted because the conversation - if it could be called so - was clearly over, and Yeri did not seem interested in this, whatever it was, as it seemed, was, his eyes were lazy, half wandering, and unfocused. What else could he say? Especially since Jeon Jungkook did not have a conversation.
Jungkook sighed after a few seconds when Yeri actually counted the time in his head, one, two, three, until Jungkook finally turned away, his shoulders looking wide inside the black shirt he was wearing; big yet gentle, it was also filled with tension so clearlyYeri felt a kind of longing within her to calm her down. But, still Yeri sighed and threw away face.
When Yeri was done with her work; she began her journey to the living room with two bowls, leave the four remaining bowls on the counter to return to pick it up or to get one of the spots lying on the sofa for her. The trip to the living room takes more time than walking towards the living room from the kitchen, but since Suho is wealthy, he just likes to have things overdone, just like this apartment and its amazing capacity. No first-year child at university can afford a luxury apartment in the middle of the capital, but capitalism does not work that way for everyone. Yeri entered the spacious living room and looked around and her eyes were fixed on the four long sofas occupied by Suho's friends, all watching, as she expected, the cheap romantic comedy while concentrating, all watching, lines of laughter adorned their lips, getting ready to laugh again from the absolutely ridiculous scene in the movie.
Jungkook's eyes immediately blinked towards Yeri which made Yeri hold back the pounding of her heart, while showing another scowling and upset look. Suho, who sat down with Jungkook to share a bowl of chips after a small quarrel, noticed the younger uneasiness and followed the direction of his eyes, while beaming and happy as he watched Yeri.
"Yeri," called Suho happily, patting the empty side next to him with beaming eyes, "Sit beside me. Just let Sehun carry the other bowl, "Then Suho kicked his leg back to the head of the tall man who was sitting on the marble ground in front of him, suho's feet hit the back of Sehun's head rather violently. Then Suho said "Bring the rest of the bowl. There are dozens of beers in the fridge. Bring that too. "
"You were wearing those socks from two days ago, hyung," whined Sehun, gently patting his head with his big hands, while looking at Suho with a dirty look. "That's disgusting, and you touched my hair with it!"
"I really just put on these socks today, asshole," Suho looked at Sehun with offence. "Now go and bring the rest of the snacks."
"Suckhead." Sehun whispered silently, while standing with an exaggerated groan to do what Suho said.
Yeri took the place next to Suho which was now much easier because Sehun's body was already not blocking the way, and almost, just about, Suho leaned against his side while fixing his position on the sofa so that he gave his back to be stared at by Jungkook; then laid his head on Yeri's shoulder while humming comfortably.
"Hmm, Yeri, you are the best pillow maker," Suho muttered sincerely as he squinted his eyes at the big plasma TV and tried to read the translation with myopic eyesight. "You should have come here earlier."
"So you can use me as your pillow? That's great." Yeri clicked her tongue, lau shook her head towards Suho. Suho just laughed, wrapped his warm hand around his arm while squeezing it, as if telling him that he was just joking with the gesture. He was too busy trying to read the subtitles to answer verbally.
Yeri's eyes moved past Suho's head when she felt a smoldering gaze, and she met Jungkook's sharp gaze. He looked at her, he noticed, as usual, his mouth moving around the pieces of chips he had put in before. Yeri did not understand what kind of emotion was appearing in Jungkook's eyes, but she knew it signified dislike. Ever since Yeri saw her a month ago, and Jungkook seems to find fault with her. Every time their eyes met, Jungkook would frown, either looking away or narrowing his eyes more, challenging him to look away. Yeri breathed out from her nose, keeping eye contact with Jungkook for a few seconds, her heartbeat fluttering under her ribs, before she looked up at the TV, hoping he can drown himself in the stupidity of that stupid movie, instead of Jeon Jungkook's. With challenging eyes.
Suho's party actually consists of a lot of junk food, beer or alcoholic beverages, and lives in a cozy atmosphere in his apartment accompanied by his best friends, the list that Yeri had just added a few days before this party. Since Yeri was a reclusive person, it was difficult for her to have such laid-back extrovert friends as each of Suho's friends had; so it was a surprise for her when one day, she said, Suho enters into his life and demands that they become friends. At first, he thought Suho was only using him because he was a straight-A student (always getting an A), and considered the kind of environment Suho came from and the gossip circulating about him; Yeri ignores Suho, telling Suho plainly that he is not interested in rich men who insist on being friends with him, especially Yeri is not a person to be pitied (Yeri is also considered a loner), but it was the persistence and eyes of the dog that Suho had - which he found so funny but unwilling to admit - that had won his heart. So now Yeri thought of him as a friend, and it didn't take a month until Suho was always around him, even inviting him to his private meeting.
Then came Suho's close friend. Yeri does not know that Suho has many friends, due to his insistence to befriend Yeri before, but he is wrong, and she is also the only woman. They don't get along as easily as he gets along with Suho, but slowly they start to melt until they're comfortable enough to throw dirty jokes with him. Except for Jeon Jungkook, that's. The first time he met her, both of their eyes flickered to recognize each other; the treatment immediately turned into aggression from Jungkook's side. Jungkook even roughly pulled Suho to a fight with him about why Suho was with him. Of course, Suho did not listen, and therefore they had to face the remaining days of their friendship that hated each other
Greatable.
"Oh shit," Suho suddenly muttered from beside him, his warm lips pressing against the shoulder arm of his sweater making his body tremble. Yeri looked at him curiously. "I have to pee." Said Suho
"Then go away." Yeri muttered as she refocused on the TV.
Suho whined, wriggled around his place and nudged Jungkook next to him when his leg hit Jungkook's hip, "But I was so comfortable lying down like this. If I leave then I won't find a place like this anymore. "
Yeri rolled her eyes, and before she could open her mouth and reply - or push Suho's head off her numb shoulder - Jungkook next to her muttered, "Don't worry Hyung, don't worry, I'm gonna warm this place up for you with my cold ass."
Suho looked at Jungkook with a deadly gaze, while he sniffed his laughter by pushing his fist into his mouth. Jungkook gets really funny when he doesn't become a bitch to Yeri.
"That's not funny," Suho glared more, annoyed with the amused smile on Jungkook's face, "And I can't go and leave you two. I can't guarantee you not to scratch Yeri's face with your nails. "Taught Suho to Jungkook.
"I have pretty nails, huh?" Jungkook innocently blinked his eyes at his Hyung, his voice still decreased significantly to not disturb the dim balls of the movie playing in front and angered Kyungsoo who was sitting on the sofa beside him, "Long and deadly."Suho
"They're like wolf claws, to be honest." Yeri muttered softly among herself, trying not to look at Jungkook, but Jungkook heard her and looked at her with a sharp look, his lips frowning.
"OK, I'm going to pee," said Suho, standing up from his place and stretching out his hands, "Please don't kill each other."
Suho left and the space he left between the two was large and spacious. There was still a curling warmth from his body that had previously seeped between each of their shoulders, and neither of the two were discussing or even glancing at each other. They were just watching TV, the gaping holes between them were similar to the ones between their hearts; wide and empty, the remnants of embers were still there, the, which wants to be lit but completely ignored.
Suho's taste in food was actually quite good, and very reluctantly, Yeri shifted closer to Jungkook's side, Jungkook ignored the flash in his head that was shocking as he felt the warmth of the woman's hand towards him; who tried to grab some chips in his bowl. Only, Jungkook had quick reflexes and pulled the bowl away from him.
"This is not yours," Yeri told him in a clear tone, with a blank look and hands still stretched forward. He scoffed.
"It's not yours either. But it's in my hands, so it's under my control. " Reply Jungkook
"Do you hear yourself now?" Yeri widened her eyes towards Jungkook, feeling ridiculed by the stupid mindset this boy had. Jungkook, after seeing Yeri's annoyance, sneers mockingly, and Yeri hates how alluring the pink color is, bordering on the red, lips that appear with the look of Jungkook's face, as well as his dark black hair that fell on his forehead and touched his eyes, reinforcing the man's mysterious look. Yeri hates that she reacts to Jungkook as well.
"This is my colonic and I am the king; my words are law, and I say that Yeri is not allowed to take a single chip from this bowl unless the tax is paid. "
"Did you say you wanted me to pay you?" Yeri is now just glaring at Jungkook, while wondering why in this world Yeri thinks that he can take some chips from Jungkook, while also thinking about how to get them, when he himself knew what kind of personality the boy had.
Glad to learn that Yeri understood Jungkook, Jungkook raised one eyebrow to approve. Knowing that all these problems were useless and the chips were not important to be in trouble with him; Yeri sighed and ran back to where he was, not realizing the grin on Jungkook's face had faded away in disappointment.
Suho came back and he paused for a moment in front of the sofa, noticing the wrinkles on Yeri and Jungkook's faces as well as the dark aura around them; while looking at how each of them tried to stick their bodies as close as possible to the chair, so that they did not have to be close to each other. He sighed, low and deep, placing his hands on his hips like an old woman who was ready to scold the two.
"I said no fighting, man. I warned you about this, I left for a while and you fought. How can I have fun with my friends when they have problems between them "
................................................................................................................................................................
Yeri, not really, does not like to shop or go to the supermarket just to buy his necessities although for that he has to take a long road and a long time to reach the supermarket, but he kept walking with an annoyed expression. Wh why? because to get away from the environment of the house and his parents are very disturbing; he will do anything, even the boring tasks he gets will he do to stay away from his family. He was used to doing a lot for them. His parents are always busy, always absent, always leaving suddenly. At one time in his life, and he didn't know exactly when, but he was getting used to it. For what he thought of such a situation; he was not sure, but there were dark days and good days for everyone. So that all of those things became so blurred for him and Yeri could no longer discern the difference. That was why for most of his life, the days he spent were only gray and silver, there was no other color there.
Yeri released suffocating breaths out of her body, her lungs deflating as if part of the breath she made was trouble and anxiety. This was an accurate description of his condition; inhaling anxiety as if it were molecules in the air he was breathing. Yeri tends to get into an imaginary list in her head, grabbing everything she needs and sneaking out, like she treats a snack inside of her. He had to hide this when he was at home so that his parents did not tell him that he was wasting their money by buying useless items "again".
He took his groceries with some sort of relaxation on his body; his movements were gentle yet unresponsive; his head sank under his exaggerated thoughts; his hands lazily grabbed the bottle, then the jar, then into the bag. It was interesting how he made such careless work look so pitiful.
Suddenly someone who crashed his trolly into Yeri managed to resuscitate him from the "death" state he was in, and Yeri turned his head to the side with a frown preparing to scare the innocent, only to see Jungkook looking at her blankly. His eyes blinked with a spark that told Yeri that Jungkook intended to hit him with a trolly. He did not soften his pouting expression. Yeri instead wanted her soft lips to plead to curl up into a smirk, a haughty smile, extremely haughty, but she bit her urge by pinning her lower lip between her teeth.
"What are you doing?" Yeri sighed, her pouting face went away, and she pulled her trolly with great determination to go away. But Jungkook instead followed her rather innocently.
"What am I doing?" Jungkook raised his eyebrows as if he was an idiot for asking Yeri this. Yeri simply pulled a sour face at him, "What are you doing, an hour away from home?"
Yeri tense. Jungkook noticed, Yeri was the other way around, and everyone from a ten-meter radius would notice, too, how not? Yeri's shoulders shifted slightly, going to bend gently towards the refrigerator while staring intensely, her wandering eyes frozen coldly against the bag of peas. Then, as if trying to soften the impact of the harshness of those words on her, she sighed; shaking her head towards her already half-full trolly.
"I'm shopping for food, as you can see."
"An hour away from home?" Jungkook asked curiously, curiously to find out why Yeri was here in his area, instead of the area around Yeri's own house, which made Jungkook curious in advance of Yeri's reaction, "I thought there was a supermarket near your house? I don't understand why you came here from all the places. "
Yeri is not too surprised by Jungkook's chatty self. He knows what kind of person Jeon Jungkook is towards others; funny, chatty, nosy, and a pompous puppy that no one can be angry or quite with. Yeri has seen how Jungkook treats others, especially his friends, and he has been or twice subjected to the same treatment as well. However, to him, Jungkook's traits did not last long. Because in the end Jungkook always turns into his angry and easily agitated self. Yeri assures herself that whenever Jungkook ... is gentle with her, then it means Jungkook is in a good mood.
Yeri looked at him seriously, her dark brown eyes dull yet expressive, trying to read his expression. Jungkook blinked looking at Yeri's gaze to him, having been very clear in this case his face revealed an indifferent expression. Jungkook looked normal, thought Yeri; his face was drawn into a curious yet innocent expression, a vexation that Jungkook used to have for him he could not find, and Yeri concluded that she was really in a good mood.
"I love this supermarket," Yeri replied softly; puzzled, looking down the hallway around Jungkook, as if he had only been to that supermarket for the first time, his eyes unfocused, "There are things that this supermarket has that are not in the supermarket close to my house."
Yeri flees with her trolly away from Jungkook, before Jungkook can begin to digest her words, Yeri's figure further moves away from Jungkook as Jungkook confusedly follows Yeri with the look of his eyes. Stubbornly, Jungkook pushed his trolly towards Yeri, his lips curling with a frown feeling annoyed at being ignored. It seemed, Jungkook could not be ignored in such a way.
"Leave me alone." Yeri whispered as she felt the shadow of Jungkook's body behind her, feeling strange and vulnerable to Jungkook's eye-gazing that seemed to accuse him - that Yeri should not look back and look at him to find out how he looked - and upset at being chased.
"I didn't follow you," Jungkook rolled his eyes, still following Yeri, "I shop like you. I'm pretty sure this supermarket is a public shopping mall. You want me to go? Then you should slander me for indecent behavior in public places or say I'm a thief if you have the guts. "
Jungkook smiled proudly as Yeri stopped to look at him in annoyance, her eyebrows raised above her forehead. Yeri looked at her like she was a completely crazy person and she enjoyed the color that dyed Yeri's face like this, even if it was a negative color, she said, rather than looking at the silky shadow that had cast a shadow over Yeri's eyes earlier.
Yeri decides to ignore Jungkook (again) because it is the best thing he can do and walk again to get his things. Secretly, Jungkook walks after him, observing what he bought by sticking out his neck and peeking at his belongings. Yeri pretended she wasn't there with him.
Occasionally, Jungkook would cut off his trolly path incautiously and pick up a few items in front of him and then return to follow him, following him, placed some very unhealthy items inside his trolly and cheerfully continued on his way. Yeri felt like Jungkook wanted her to see what he was buying with all this reconnaissance, and when Yeri fell into temptation, Yeri peered towards Trolly Jungkook.
Yeri could feel her eyebrows twitching.
Yeri looked at her and Jungkook replied to her with a grin, leaning on his metal trolly and very casually tapping his chin, a kind of long silence passed through the two. There was a gleam in Jungkook's eyes that said that he just wanted to be scolded by his choice, something he seemed to be doing on purpose so Yeri noticed him. Yeri did not fall into temptation this time and walked away without a sound, while dragging her trolly.
Jungkook goes around with Yeri until Yeri is ready to pay for his belongings, his trolly is behind Yeri's. At first, Yeri was silent as she watched her belongings scanned, her money counted and it was ready in her hands. He has a clear mind to never look back and find Jeon Jungkook's eyes on him, and whether he felt the burning and pulsating heat on his skin because of that eye gaze or not. But apart from that; Jungkook was still very close, his trolly was the only one blocking their bodies from getting close together, and he could feel the coldness of Jungkook's trolly metal in his jacket. Yeri peeked slowly only to look back at Jungkook, trying to be subtle, and Jungkook rightly looked at him with a sneer, instantly catching his gaze. Yeri sighed long and hard, she gave up.
Yeri finally turned completely to face Jungkook, with cold eyes, "You have a lot of snacks on your trolly."
"I know." Jungkook just shrugged, the dark black hoodie he wore strengthened his wide, tight shoulders. Yeri.
"You know that you need real food in your dorm, right? Besides noodles and snacks? "
"Yup," Jungkook nodded his head casually, "I prefer unhealthy food over real food."
Yeri looked at him, rude and serious, a hint of glittering calculation alive in his eyes. Jungkook looked back, without a care; his eyes twirled lazily and uninterestedly, almost like he lost Yeri, but the intensity in his dark irises did not fool Yeri at all. After a little silence, Yeri exhaled, "That's because you don't know how to cook, right?"
It was time for Jungkook to tense up, as Yeri did when Jungkook mentioned the supermarket near his home, and the previous flash Yeri gave him diminished. Jungkook dodged Yeri's angry gaze, his eyes here and there nervously, his fingers tapping his trolly irregularly. For a moment, Jungkook looked pouted, and Yeri found Jungkook's lips curled up slightly.
"You need healthy food, Jungkook." Yeri muttered, distant memories popping up in her head.
Jungkook smashed his head towards Yeri, his eyes and his entire face suddenly seemed to be burning, not a fire you could turn off by damping it under your feet, but a wild fire that burns everything behind it. Yeri was terrified, suddenly, at the memory of exactly what came to Jungkook's mind to make Jungkook's mood change so suddenly. Then again, Yeri once thought that Jungkook had bipolar disorder with how often his emotions and moods changed. Yeri didn't think too much about it.
"Why should you care about what I eat," Jungkook's voice finally came out of his mouth despite the emotion roaring on his face, "I'm used to this. Maybe you should take care of yourself. "
There was some kind of indicator in her tone, the kind that told Yeri that she knew what Yeri was hiding under all the dark circles in her eyes, and Yeri had no doubt that she really knew. However, admitting that it is a clear declaration of his authority over Yeri, and if there is one thing Yeri hates most, is when people think they have things that can hold him back, it is when people think they have things that can hold him back, like the information he's hiding. Perhaps Jungkook was not like most people; yeri knew from the beginning about it, but an ugly feeling that crept under his skin with the all-knowing look of Jungkook's eyes, giving him the same restlessness and fragility as he felt towards others. Yeri didn't like it; in fact, she never did.
"Right," Yeri sighed, turning to give the cashier his money and quickly picked up his belongings, "You're right. I have my own problems to fix. "
Yeri left, then, knowing and feeling Jungkook's gaze that kept on being fixed on him as he walked away. But just like that time, Yeri had nothing to tell him or do anything to him. Jungkook will always look at him; like a shadow lurking around his soul, and as usual, he will always pretend the next day, and surely Jungkook will eventually stop.
But it turns out Yeri was wrong, Jungkook never stopped.
