The room was dominated by white and some people around it became the first thing Jessie saw.
"Mrs, if you hear the twinkling of your eyes."
His eyes blinked slowly making everyone breathe a sigh of relief. The joyous look on his face could not be hidden including the man who had been waiting for him for a long time.
He wanted to speak, but he couldn't. His throat was very dry due to the suffocating thirst.
"Air—" Either one word is heard or it is not.
Fortunately Xavier was sensitive enough to his condition that it immediately helped him to drink. The man's eyes glazed over to make Jessie moody. She must have made her husband worried.
"Sorry—" Jessie said after feeling better. His outstretched hand rubbed Xavier's tears flowing down his cheek.
"I almost lost you ...."
The man hugged her slowly and sobbed small. He was very afraid that his wife would really leave. God has just shown how painful it is to lose a loved one.
That's how Jessie felt when she lost her family at the same time, when you were the only one left among the others.
"I'm here" whispered Jessie stroking her husband's broad back.
"Don't go again— please." Jessie nodded.
His gaze now turned on Rachel who was looking at him softly. The middle-aged woman was almost as glassy as him. Argus smiled next to him.
"Mom." Jessie stuck out her hand making Rachel immediately come closer and hug him.
"I really almost died, Mom," whispered Jessie. It made a small blow from Rachel landing.
"Don't joke!" At a time like this, Jessie still had time to upset him.
"Mom thinks you're really gone." Rachel almost cried again, "you're evil if you catch up with Sophia—"
"Mom ... I did want to catch up with them, but I remember still having one more family here."
Argus and Xavier smiled at her, in contrast to Rachel whose cries instantly broke.
"Mom, don't cry anymore. Look at your eyes like pandas." Though his mother was very anti with a shabby face.
"It's okay. This is the last time Mom cried."
"Already, Mom. Don't bother my wife." Xavier keeps his mother away from Jessie. The middle-aged woman glared like she wanted to eat her son alive.
"Bad!" he snapped, but the man just ignored.
Jessie intended to wake up because she felt stiff after a long lie down, but her forehead crept as she stared at her blanket-covered legs.
Argus, Rachel and Xavier realize that Jessie is staring at each other. The man helped his wife to sit half.
"Baby—"
"I'm disabled?" cut Jessie.
"No, Honey. You'll be well soon" said Argus, stroking his daughter-in-law's head.
"We train again slowly," persuaded Xavier gently.
Jessie was silent. He felt his eyes begin to wet but not to drip.
"How long?" he was still staring at his feet.
"How long?!"
Xavier sighed with his jaw tightening.
"One year," Xavier replied at last, "but it could have been faster" the correction was quick.
**
Xavier fed his wife painstakingly. Jessie's eyes had not turned away from her husband. The man did not stop smiling at his wife.
"I know you must miss me so much" joked Xavier still patiently feeding Jessie.
"I've been missing you for a long time" Jessie murmured. Xavier's smile faded.
Sighing, the man clasped his wife's hand after putting a bowl of porridge on the nightstand.
"I'm completely useless now." Jessie chuckles softly.
"If it's useless, I'm lying here right now" said Xavier.
"You're entertaining me?"
"Hm, comfort my naughty wife."
Jessie smiled thinly. She took off Xavier's grip, then stroked the bandage that wrapped her husband's wrist.
"Mom told me." Staring at the bandage, "if you choose to die, then my efforts will be in vain." He clasped his firm jaw and kissed her.
"I failed once. I don't want to fail a second time" he whispered.
Jessie shifted her body on the bed and patted her next to it. Xavier sat next to him. The woman entered in her husband's arms, wrapped her hands around Xavier's waist and leaned her head against his chest.
"You never fail, Baby. I'm the one who should be responsible for you. I even broke my promise to protect you."
Jessie gnashing. A promise? He could not remember when Xavier said it.
"Don't cry anymore. If you get hurt, I'm going crazy!"
"I swear I'll protect you with my life."
"Promise?"
"Promise!"
The deg!
He remembered, but it was an old memory— wait! Jessie looked up quickly until their eyes met. It was used by Xavier to kiss his lips quickly.
"I love it when you hold me" whispered Xavier.
Jessie's eyes were shocked. This time he did not hesitate. Seeing that face, Xavier couldn't bear to immediately kiss her. Before Jessie regained consciousness, Xavier had already fused their lips together.
Jessie was surprised and immediately removed the link.
"You remember?!"
