De Lawrence: Ambition of the Past

De Lawrence: Ambition of the Past
Baby's Breath: Nothing is Eternal

After a long meeting in Jessie's absence, Valerie slumped her head on the table, intending to take a short nap. But the knock on the door made her unwillingly raise her head again with a forced smile.

"Lake in!" said.

The woman with a charming smile with a graceful posture walked in and stood in front of Valerie.

"Miss. Morgan, here's the monthly report." Valerie felt fascinated to see that smile, but she shook her head soon.

Conscious, stupid!

"Thanks, Mrs. Laura." - Laura." Valerie returned a smile, "sit down for a while, we haven't been chatting for a long time" she asked.

Laura smiled at him, then sat down to face Valerie. "Where's Jessie? I haven't seen him all day" he asked.

"She said she wasn't feeling well" Valerie replied, "what's wrong?"

"none. I just want to talk for a minute, as usual."

Valerie stared at him. "It's not a marriage, is it?" Little nervous.

Laura chuckled softly. "You look nervous, Val. Can't you cover it a little." Closer to his face, "you don't think I'm gonna mess up the wedding, do you?"

"Of course not." Valerie cleared her expression, "i'm more worried about your marriage."

"What's wrong with my wedding?" Laura laughs.

"Don't laugh! You're scaring me."

Laura is a perfectionist woman, serving as head of the finance division. This woman can be scary in certain situations.

"You're overreacting, Val."

"I am very loyal. Stop thinking I'm gonna take it! I'll hang with my husband anyway."

"Just prove what you said" he said. Laura looked at him sharply.

"You dare say that to me?!" hisses. Valerie shook her head strongly while laughing softly.

"I'm kidding, Mrs. You don't take it seriously."

"Goodoo. You better get Austin out. His face pisses me off." Waving her hair, then coming out.

Valerie's face instantly changed.

"My position is now completely useless!" After Laura disappeared.

Among Jessie and Laura, she has a second position in the company after President and CEO. But see now? It was useless in front of those two people.

"Go back to your positions! Don't keep involving me!" he shouted, "calm Val. Finish sir. Austin first." Set his breath up and down.

Jessie stood in front of the window. In front of her was a flower vase that Rachel had given a moment ago.

Jessie touched the Baby's Breath without emotion on her face. The flower was exactly the same as his mother's well-treated property to date in their mansion.

To this day Jessie does not understand why the mother is so silly to keep the flower means true and sincere love even though the relationship with the father is not as described.

"If you can be the antidote to my family's curse. I'll admit you" he told the flower. It sounds strange to talk to a plant.

"Love and sincerity are useless when someone has forgotten you know?"

Jessie plucked a small sprig, taking it to her study next to their room. Of course, a private workspace. Xavier has his own room.

Once there, Jessie picked up a book that was still preserved in her desk drawer. He placed the flower there, neatly attached to it next to a photograph in the book.

"This is the most suitable place for you in this house. They are lovers who love each other. Long ago .. long before the man forgot the woman."

As time goes by, the flower will dry up, then die. Then only the remaining debris will become dust and carried by the wind. After that, the scar will no longer be visible.

"Nothing is eternal, including love. Even though I see a lot of love for others, in fact they will be separated. Either because the feeling was gone or because of death," he said again.

In the end it will be just stories, memories and the past, just like the one in this book.

Jessie slowly closed the book, accompanied by a thin smile and put it back in place. Staring long enough at the neatly stored book, his attention was slowly fixed on two small envelopes that were also neatly arranged there.

The two envelopes were still sealed without ever being opened. It was also one of the last birthday gifts from her parents in addition to her pendant.

"What do you guys actually write there? Why would I be afraid to open it, as if it would make me regret it for the rest of my life."

Not wanting to think anymore, Jessie immediately closed the drawer and locked it.
