De Lawrence: Ambition of the Past

De Lawrence: Ambition of the Past
Tonight is Ours

Life is a choice ....

I have often heard these words with my ears. If you ask me what my choice is, then this is the path I choose.

Others may think I'm heartless, but they don't know if it took me a long time to prepare myself for this.

How does it feel when you're dealing with your family's killers, but you're forced to keep smiling at them as if you don't know anything.

Obnoxious, right?

"A surprise?" cynical Sir. Austin, "i didn't expect to have been deceived by my own nephew" he sneered at the woman sitting in front of him.

Rebecca who was also there looked wrong despite trying to normalize her expression repeatedly. Rexanne looked upset at her daughter.

Rebecca was worried. In fact, the woman who had been kicked out turned out to be Lawrence himself instead of Jessie who was a subordinate. She had once flirted with her husband.

Look at that woman now. From the aura emanated from his expression alone was enough to prove that he was Lawrence who his grandfather had told him.

"He's not friendly! Grandfather remind you not to bother him if you meet!"

It is still clear his grandfather's warning in his memory, although in fact he had never met in person. But now?! This reality is shocking.

"I want to talk to auntie" Jessie said softly. He didn't care about Austin's grunts since.

Rexanne nodded. "You're my nephew." It's kind of weird to hear Jessie call her aunt for the first time.

"I don't want to make small talk." After saying that, Jessie took out a pendrive from her bag and placed it on the table.

"What's that?" Rebecca started to worry.

"The recording of Jessica five years ago. Your mother's at the scene."

"What?!" pekik Austin and his daughter.

"Mom, you're not involved, are you?!" ask Rebecca to panic.

"You can," said Jessie.

"Mom!"

"Shut up!" rexanne jolts at Rebecca.

"I was there, but that doesn't mean I killed him!" he looked at Jessie.

"Totally so." Jessie seemed to think, "but what if grandpa saw her?"

The three people immediately stiffened hearing him.

"Grandfather won't listen. He'll be mad!" Rebecca's panicking.

Especially if the tape falls on his business rival. It was obvious it could be used to tarnish Lawrence's family's good name.

"What do you want?" tanyanya.

Jessie smiled thinly. "Just be a witness and tell me what you saw."

Rexanne takes Jessie to a villa not far from the city center. They were alone there, with no workers.

"Rest here. You can stay until your problems are over. I'm going back home."

Rexanne was about to close the door, making room for the woman.

"Aunt ...."

"Yes?"

"You're not lying, are you?"

"I'm not asking you to believe." Next was completely gone after closing the door.

Jessie sighed softly and laid her body on the bed. Maybe he'll be here for a few days.

Staring at the ceiling of the room, Jessie recalled her husband. What the man was like today. Looking for her? He didn't mean to go, really. He was just afraid of involving the man again in his problems.

Tomorrow is his birthday which means it is also the worst day of his life. Every year he would go alone on this special day.

Jessie hates it when someone congratulates her, gives her a gift or another surprise. The last time the surprise was the news of his family's death.

Jessie wakes up from her sleep, pulls the blanket and covers her body. He walked to the large window with a seat with small pillows and sat there staring at the moon.

There were small stars all around, making smiles rise on Jessie's lips.

"You know? I met a little girl, very pretty. His eyes and lips were like big brother's, but his face was like his father's. Crazy huh?" Jessie chuckled softly, "maybe I miss you too much."

"She's so cute, mom, dad. He looks like a big brother when he's pouting." Again he likened it to his brother.

No more sounds after that. Jessie was silent for a moment.

"Tonight is just us. Mom, dad and sister," she said, then put herself to sleep curled up in a blanket wrapped around her body and closed her eyes.

Happy Birthday, Dear. Tonight is our. Good nights.

Jessie who was beginning to sink into her subconscious smiled faintly.

Good night, Mom.
