De Lawrence: Ambition of the Past

De Lawrence: Ambition of the Past
Release Him ....

Before actually approaching, there was a commotion from Jessie's room. Argus, Rachel, and Alroy who were holding his daughter immediately accelerated their steps.

Looks Xavier with a little shabby clothes sitting lethargic in front of Jessie's room. Anyone knew that the man was crying despite hiding his face between his knees.

Rachel hugged him so that the man would calm down. No need to ask what happened. The presence of doctors and nurses in the room explained everything.

"Please don't leave me, Jess." His voice was shaking violently accompanied by vibrations on his shoulders.

"Xav—"

"He's not breathing, Mom. I— I'm scared," he whispered.

He was shocked when the ECG machine rang. Not a sound as usual, but a sign of a person losing their heart rate.

Xavier got back up even though his weight felt difficult for him to jump. His hand touched the glass that showed his wife struggling inside with a defibrillator.

"Hold, Baby. Please."

Rachel herself couldn't bear to see it. Tears finally spilled. His son was very broken. What if Jessie— she gets into the arms of her husband who is staring inside.

Naomi herself hid her face around Alroy's neck. Things scare her, let alone seeing Xavier and Rachel crying.

Worry, fear, panic and anxiety immediately hit at the same time when the doctor holding the defibrillator stopped his activities. Without warning Xavier ran to open the door and entered the house followed by his other family.

"WHY STOP! DO IT AGAIN" snapped Xavier frantically.

The doctor and nurse nodded. The ECG machine no longer reads and only displays straight lines.

"Master— we can't hold it anymore—"

"CLOSED YOUR MOUTH!"

Nah! Xavier couldn't take it.

Rachel's cry was getting heard. It's gone, it's time he left. Her daughter chose to take off her heavy burden and meet her family.

"Xav— Jessie is tired. Don't hold him anymore— let him." Argus touched Xavier's sobbing shoulder over his wife's body.

"No! He promised to come back to me." Xavier shook his head loudly, "baby ... You want to lie again? No, okay?" persuade him while stroking that deathly pale face.

Alroy hugs Naomi's body to hide her sadness. He knows what it feels like to be in Xavier's position. Losing a loved one is painful.

"What's wrong with Jessie's mom?" naomi's great-grandson to her father.

Naomi dared to look. Seeing the lifeless body before him made his lips start curling downwards.

"Mama wants to go too?" Alroy nodded slowly.

Naomi's tear instinctively came down. The rebellious little girl asked to get down from the sling and approached Xavier.

Arloy wants to ban but is prevented by Argus and Rachel.

"Daddy Xavier don't cry!" Naomi hugged Xavier's leg. His small body was only able to reach that part.

Xavier wiped his tears and looked at Naomi who had a little bit of his wife's face. The girl forbade her from crying, but her own lips pursed cutely because of her crying.

"Help daddy wake up your mama, okay?" Soon Xavier lifted the little body and sat him down next to Jessie.

"Baby, look who's coming. You want to leave him too?"

Let him be selfish for not letting his wife go. Not for now!

Naomi touched Jessie's pale face like Xavier did.

"Mrs ... Naomi has come."

Xavier could not hold back his tears anymore seeing no response from his wife.

I'm not ready yet, Jess— at least take me. If you don't wake up, I'll see you!

"Xav— jessie must have been hurt too. Let her go, will you?" persuade Rachel. Xavier nodded again. The man then hugged his mother and cried, shedding all his longing and heartache on the woman who had given birth to him.

"Please— please leave us," he asked a little calmly.

"But, Xav—"

"Please, Mom."

They follow even with a sense of caution. Arloy takes Naomi out with her, leaving Xavier and Jessie both.

Outside are Felix and Laura. Both of them had come over and witnessed everything. Laura's hand shook violently accompanied by the fluid flowing silently in both corners of her eyes.

Goodbye, Jess ....
