The Primal Hunter's

The Primal Hunter's
Arrow

Now, the entire valley had been thoroughly cleaned. Herbs, key boxes, even wild beasts were all gone. It took hours, and the sun had set long enough, but Jake was more than satisfied. While he managed to obtain another level, it was the loot that made him the most happy.

For the herbs, he had found a group that he could not recognize at all; however, the Sense of the Malefic Viper told him that it was useful, that it was useful, and using Identification on them confirmed that it was indeed a magic potion. Everything is lower or rare except shrubs with berries in the middle of the valley.

[Soothing Bellberry Bush (Rarely)] – Soothing Bellberry Bushes. The berries that grow on this shrub are known to have a calming effect on the mind.

He was frankly not sure if this was something he needed. Its spatial necklace can allow plants to survive in it, making it a suitable place to store shrubs.

So, he did what any reasonable person would do, or dug it up and threw it in the safe. He could always figure out what to do with it next time.

Seeing one of the few berries that had already grown on the bushes, he decided to at least bite it.

[Soothing Bellberry (Rarely)] – Berries that provide a calming effect for anyone who consumes them.

Even if it somehow turned out to be poisonous, he was certain that his Malefic Viper Ceiling would negate it. Even if not, he doubted that the berries could cost him dearly.

Putting that thing into this mouth, Jake did feel a cold feeling spreading from his stomach as he became a little clearer in his head. Then again, he was already quite calm at the moment.

Of course, other shrubs and herbs were not the spoils he cared most about. No, it comes from the catch he got from a total of five key boxes, a total of six when you count where he found the ring.

Three of the common rarity and two of the unusual rarity have been found.

The rare ones were not too much of a problem, but he found a dagger between them. The other was a pair of boots that provided little durability, which was not particularly useful considering his rare Wandering Alchemist Shoes, with the latter being a necklace made similar to the Jade-Eyed Tiger Ring. He put it all in his storage, but overall it was a bit disappointing.

What was rare, of course, was a token as well as something he could actually use.

[Shortsword of Icy Winds (Rare)] – Swords made of Froststeel and reinforced with which Ice affinity for a long time. Due to the materials used, the blades attacked anyone who was exposed to the ice element energy. Charm: Attacking Cold.

Requirements: Lvl 35+ in any class.

Well, he thought he could use it, but it required his class at level 35. He also did not know if it worked well with his Twin Taring Style. It was not a weapon made of bones, so the bonus was definitely not valid, but he also did not know whether it included a 'shorter' weapon or not. He felt like it should be, considering it was shortsword and so on, but who knew?

And lastly is the upgrade token mentioned above.

[Token upgrade equipment tutorial (Rare)] – Upgrade the initial items of common rarity from the tutorial to unusual rarity.

This is where the really good things are. Jake's been pissed for too long with his weak arrows. They broke too easily, reducing his Powershot power by quite a lot, and he often found they were unable to penetrate as deeply as he wanted to better deliver his poison.

From the very beginning, he had learned to increase the durability of his bow with mana, making even the rarest of them manageable. After obtaining a rare enhanced bow from an archer who had been at a party with the Blade of Nature warriors, he did not have a single problem with it. At least not for now.

But arrows cannot be injected with mana in the same way. The mana spreads more or less instantly after it is injected. It did the same thing with the bow, but since he held it at all times, it didn't really matter. He naturally could not do the same with arrows as they would lose their purpose if he started stabbing people with them like a dagger. Something, indeed, he had done at certain times.

Looking at his arrow tube, he reminded himself of the description for the last time.

[Enchanted Quiver (Common)] – A bewitched quiver with the ability to conjure rare arrows when injected with mana.

The vibe has served him well, but it's time to step it up. Taking the token, he used it on the arrow tube as the light enveloped him for a few moments. Within his scope, he only saw the tube crumble to complete its absence until the new tube was reassembled, also from nothingness.

The new vibe looks quite similar to the old one. The only difference is the slightly finer bristles on the arrows, along with the skin that looks less worn and more high quality.

[Enchanted Quiver (Uncommon)] - A quiver that has the ability to pop out unusual rare arrows when injected with mana.

The description has not really changed at all. But then again, all Jake expects is to get arrows that are of higher quality, and therefore more durable.

After the upgrade, five dozen, or sixty expected arrows, were already conjured in place of arrows. Jake took it out and examined it closely. The shaft is still made of wood, but Jake can't even bend it anymore. Before, he could easily break it in half.

The arrows had undergone a great transformation as well. They are still broadhead type but have been transformed into curved broadhead type. The difference is also, the cross-shaped tip has been changed to flat.

Jake recalls that these arrows were classically used in hunting large animals, such as deer or wild boar. Throughout his archery life, Jake uses more bullet-type arrows, where the shape of his arrow is similar to bullets.

However, that type of arrow also had the problem of leaving a bullet-like wound. The penetration strength is great, but the wound is small, and the blood loss is reduced as the arrow itself will clog the hole.

Bullet type is the best design to penetrate the animal skin, but the damage of each shot will be reduced. Its shape does make it much more durable and less likely to bend and break when bumping into something. Against armor, it was also often the best type, except for one using a special armor-piercing arrow. However, it is usually too heavy to handle during daily use.

The cross-shaped arrow he had before had the opposite problem. The arrowhead on it is often broken when the arrow is trying to make a wound that is too large, which is very challenging when it comes to penetrating skin and feathers or other hard materials.

Against armor, they were often worse because their small edges were thin and sharp, making them easy to deflect whenever hit with a less than perfect angle.

The new design of the arrow is the midpoint between these. It was one-sided, making it look like stabbing someone with a knife. The end is also razor-sharp, easily cutting off Jake's finger as he tries to test it.

Previously, he had to put a little pressure on his hand while grasping the arrow to draw blood. Now he only needed to press a little before it pierced through the skin. This would make the use of poison with the Blood of the Malefic Viper much easier.

Jake knew that this type of arrow was much more suited to what he wanted. It was a tool for cutting, not a tool for big impact. The likely cause of death from this arrow is bleeding compared to the bullet type where killing often occurs due to the vital organs being penetrated.

Perfect for Jake. Its main purpose was to draw blood to inflict an opponent with its poison.

It also means that it is finally time to remove the hemotoxin against a stronger opponent. His necrotic-type poison was clearly the most deadly; however, he had found a savage beast that could mostly negate it.

A hemotoxin would be much more effective at draining the vital energy of his opponent. Most beasts did not have high vitality, but this type of arrow would be much better for those who had it.

Like a dizzy child at Christmas, he got up and threw a new tube over his shoulder. It was like getting a new toy. A toy made to inflict terrible wounds and death on others.

The valley is now empty, forcing Jake to climb one of the two mountains that surround him. Of the three volcano-like mountains he could see, he chose the closest one. It is difficult to climb these hollow mountains from the mountainous paths of the valleys that surround them, but they are quite accessible from the valley itself.

He started running towards the nearest uphill road towards the top of one of the volcanoes. The closest one also happens to be the smallest, leading Jake to believe whatever is found there has a lower difficulty level than the other two.

The mountain in the middle was much more gigantic compared to the other two mountains he could see. As he ran from the valley, he did not meet any beasts in the slightest, until he finally met a small group of colorful elemental raptors.

Only three of them, and Quick Identification showed that they were only in their mid-forties. The levels are lower than many badgers, and much lower than buffaloes, which have been in their fifties.

One is red, one is brown, and the last is blue. They have the fire element, earth element, and ice/water element, respectively, based on previous encounters with their type.

Not because it's finally important. In Jake's opinion, the raptors are too weak to pose a threat. But they were perfect as targets to test his new arrow.

Taking one, he decided not to use any poison. It is better to just test the use of arrows without any other factors.

He decided to use his usual strategy when he filled out Powershot. He decided to use a powerful one to test the durability of the arrow. After nearly ten seconds of charging, he unleashed an arrow into the usual burst of power as waves of dust kicked around him.

Please don't break, please don't break Jake's prayer when the arrow is released.

A prayer was answered when the arrow hit the middle of the Redhide Raptor. The arrow cut through his flesh as if it was nothing, as it left a triangular wound. The wound itself was larger than an arrowhead due to the pure power behind the shot.

The arrow pierced straight through the beast as it smashed into the ground, piercing through the ground for nearly three meters before stopping. The creature naturally screamed in pain as it fell due to its power. It fell, but it didn't die.

Upon seeing their comrades fall, the other two raptors turned their heads towards Jake as they screeched. Elemental energies gathered in their mouths as one of them spewed out ice shards while the other fired streams of small sharp rocks, each with the force of a bullet fired from a modern automatic rifle.

It was fast, but at the same time, too slow for Jake as he quickly dodged the attacks from the two ferocious beasts with quick strides as he counterattacked. His arm was slightly itchy due to Powershot, but he returned fire with Splitting Arrow.

The arrow was fired from his bow as mid-flight split into four, with three of them hitting a brown dinosaur.

He managed to unleash another splitting arrow before he had to dodge the other ice shards, followed by streams of flames from the heavily injured Redhide Raptor that managed to bounce back once again.

The beast was extremely weak as the arrow had undoubtedly pierced through several important organs. It will heal in time. If could.

Jake unleashes a series of arrows at the hapless raptor, unable to dodge. The one marking the end was the one that pierced through his hard skull and entered his brain. Smiling satisfied at the sharpness of the arrows, he turned his attention back to the two remaining beasts.

Both of them were injured now and were spitting out a lot of blood from their wounds. It only took a few minutes to complete the rest, as they exchanged very uneven projectiles. Raptors prefer to fight from a distance, a trait that would happily match Jake's.

*You have killed [Redhide Raptor lvl 44] – Experience bonuses gained for killing enemies above your level. 48000 TP obtained*

*You have killed [Brownhide Raptor lvl 46] – Experience bonuses gained for killing enemies above your level. 52000 TP obtained*

*You have killed [Bluehide Raptor lvl 46] – Experience bonuses gained for killing enemies above your level. 52000 TP obtained*

Jake ignores the notice as he checks the full results of his scientific tests.

First of all, the arrows are sharp. Very incisive. They were like magic razor blades as they cut through his opponent.

Second, they are long lasting. Much more than the old. A good example was how one managed to break through the skull of one of the ferocious beasts. Although it had yet to fully succeed, it still managed to pass through many steel hard bones.

Its durability is also evidenced by no broken arrows. Even when they hit an awkward angle or hit the ground, they still remain intact. The blade is blunt, but still intact.

This increased sharpness was what he expected .. but it did have some weaknesses.

With an old arrow, the beast would die in the first Powershot, making Jake remember a valuable lesson in basic physics.

If an object is thin and sharp, of course, it can easily penetrate an object. The needle is a good example of this. However, the overall impact will be greatly reduced.

It was not very important in the old world, where destroying vital organs meant the death of the opponent. After the system, losing the heart or even the brain does not mean it is the end. Jake has fought off numerous beasts that have managed to survive even with severe damage to their brains.

While they will lose control of their body and often only spasm with the brain unable to control the body.

This means his new arrow actually deals less damage than the old one. It is often more effective to do large amounts of overall damage than harm in the focus area.

Its long rarity arrows worked very much like hollow bullets. They provide more damage to the surface area while not actually having a strong penetrating force when they explode upon impact.

Of course, all of this ignores one important detail. He has poison for it. The most important thing for him was to put any poison on the arrow into the blood stream or the flesh of his enemy.

Overall, he was happy with the test. Perhaps he would still use a common rare arrow sometimes if he needed to kill weaker prey that would die from one of those arrows. Like the raptor he just faced. After all, he still had a general rarity quiver in his spatial storage.

Oh well, it's time to continue, Jake thought inwardly as he continued his mountaineering journey. Hopefully, he'll find prey that really lets his new equipment shine.
