Jake stared at the dwindling number of victims until it finally stabilized. After twenty minutes, it still had not moved, but the remaining number was still cold.
Panel Tutorials
Duration: 22 days & 21:49:53
Total Remaining Victims: 49/1200
More than two hundred people were killed.
He wanted to go back and check .. but on the other hand, he didn't do it. What's he going to have to come back for? His only friend had betrayed him and even tried to kill him. Maybe they did it under false pretenses, but they did it anyway.
Jacob seems to be the only one not in the plan, but Jake still blames him. It was illogical, he knew it, but it did not change the fact that he had trusted his former supervisor. His trust has turned into weakness as Jake nearly loses his life to a mistake - a mistake he doesn't want to repeat.
So Jake ignores it while closing the panel. That's none of his business. No more. Instead, he would do what he knew was his business. To become stronger.
Standing up, he stretched his hands slightly as he made sure they were fully healed. He decides to return to the cliffs where he hunts before being hunted by small dinosaurs. It was a good vantage point, and he had a sneaking suspicion that something good should be hidden in a valley somewhere.
Thinking about this new world with a videogame logic stain is not wrong. And if an area is heavily guarded by multiple enemies in a videogame, chances are something valuable can be found in that area.
Plus, he had already killed a lot of ferocious beasts there, so it would be a waste to at least not explore the area in search of herbs and such. He had already found some in the mountain paths between the valleys, but something more had to be hidden there.
He needed less time to return than he expected when he reached the cliff he had gone through before in just a quarter of an hour. It turned out that running while not simultaneously fighting a savage beast was faster.
Standing in the crack once more, he scanned the area below with the Hunter's Sight. He saw some ferocious beasts still roaming around, but far fewer than when he started hunting them.
It is well known in the tutorial that the number of animals is limited, which is why there is hardly any decent hunting in the world beyond the barrier to the inner area.
The same rules seem to apply here. The beasts also did not appear to have migrated between different valleys. Perhaps because of the many dinosaur-like creatures that roam between the valleys.
Either way, that means Jake, in theory, can completely clear one of these valleys if he has enough time. He did not plan to do so, but killing most of them would definitely make exploration much safer and faster.
Taking his bow, he returned to the bread and butter technique of shooting blood-stained arrows with Powershot. But he'll spice it up a little this time.
He still placed his hands around the arrowhead as he let it cut through his palm as he channeled the Blood of the Malefic Viper to turn it into poison. Next, he whipped out an arrow as he started charging Powershot. But the difference from last time was that he did not let the skill do its own job.
Instead, he closely monitored the flow of inner energy as it flowed throughout his body.
The path he was going through was as he expected, but as he reached his arms and shoulders, he noticed how it spread in a strange pattern. Energy entered his muscles, but it was as if it was happening in some kind of – formation a formation that to be honest he could not even begin to understand.
He felt that he could slightly affect how fast the energy moved, but not with this shot, as he was forced to release the accumulated energy.
The arrow exploded as it struck a few meters away from the ferret that was supposed to jump in fear before running away in fear.
Grinning slightly at himself for missing, he shook his head as he poisoned and plucked another arrow, aiming at another weasel in the other open. This time, he did not focus intensively on the inner workings of the skill but kept enough focus to really hit his prey.
As expected, the poor creature did not even react when it met its end. This hunting method does not satisfy Jake's desire to find a challenge but is very satisfying for him who wants to quickly level up.
He continued shooting arrows for the next few hours until he stood there for five minutes without being able to see any beasts. He was sure that much was left, hidden behind trees or bushes, but he must have thinned it out.
The buffalo he killed the day before was the strongest beast in the area because he saw nothing approaching him in terms of level and strength.
He gained two more levels of grinding and decided to put stat points into agility and strength. He knew the value of his stats was lowered because he only had a 10% booster on that stat, but he still needed it the most.
His class improvements did start to give him more in those two things, so he would likely be able to invest in perception with more of his free points soon.
Opening his status menu, he smiled seeing his progress.

His physical stats had soared since the last time he examined them. Something he could also clearly feel as he fought his enemies. His arrow became faster and stronger, while his movements experienced similar growth.
He had no idea how much he could lift now, but with the strength of a regular punch, he might be able to lift the combined weight of several Olympic wrestlers without breaking a sweat.
Of course, his growth felt a little strange as he also met with increasingly powerful enemies. But if he compares what he can fight now to what he faced when he first entered the tutorial, it is day and night.
One of the small raptors could tear a level 10 Stonetusk Boar into pieces in a matter of seconds. Meanwhile, Jake needs the help of his comrades and all of his arrows to defeat the beast.
Of course, if Jake himself were to face the boar now, he would most likely be able to kill it with his bare hands and with just a few blows. It was a bit unreal to imagine, but one could only say that his system and mind did an excellent job of adjusting it to his increasing power.
Closing his status menu once more, he took out a stamina potion and downed it. His stamina was only about a quarter of his total. The potion was still relatively weak, but it gave him a few hundred more points. Enough to fight almost anything he could meet below. Otherwise, it would at least allow him to escape.
The drop to the valley below him was tens of meters, but Jake did not bother climbing the length as he simply took a step past the edge and let gravity work.
He quickly fell down the moment he landed on the ground, not even having to soak the impact properly because he barely felt an echo in his leg, his toughness was too high to fall like this to hurt him.
From below, he could see into the forest. From this new point of view, he saw some ferocious beasts that had previously been hidden under the crown of the tree.
These beasts were all on the weaker side, making Jake not even care about them. Unless they provoked him, he would let them just like that.
Walking into the forest, he did not focus as much on his vision as he did on his Sphere of Perception. He observed everything within a distance of twenty meters or so as he walked, peering into every small crack, every fallen log, and every hollow tree.
After a few minutes, he finally found it.
Jackpot, Jake thought to himself when he saw the box inside the ball.
While walking there, he flipped over the wooden trunk that hid it in a small hole in the ground. Identifying him, that was what he expected to find.
[Magic Gem Key Box (Rarely)] – Magic key box created by a bewitched system with the ability to block all kinds of attempts to peek inside before opening
Identical to the one wearing my bracelet, he thought, while preparing to open it.
A few seconds later, the box opened with a satisfying click as he looked at the item inside.
It was another ring, one with a green gem embedded in it. It was not a shiny type of stone, but a rough type of stone that did not reflect any light. To be honest, it was more like a band than a ring, as it did not have any bulges but had a perfectly flat surface.
No wait, he identified it.
[Ring of the Jade-eye Tiger (Uncommon)] – A ring made by pinning the crystal eyes of Jade-eye Tiger into a band. Tiger records gave strength to charm, giving some of the beast's power to its users. Charm: +20 Perception, +15 Agility, +15 Strength.
Requirements: Lvl 30 in any humanoid Race
With a whistle, Jake picked it up happily.
Now, he's pretty sure that the system makes a special item for, or at least partially based on, whoever opened the box.
They were like loot boxes in the gaming industry before the system, but they were actually good. Instead of getting unlucky items that were useless to anyone, it deliberately dropped something that the user was judged to be usable.
At least he was very sure of that. Or maybe he just got lucky so far. He based that theory on how all the items he had obtained outside of the challenge basement had been created specifically for an archer.
He ignored the box given in the basement of the challenge because it was clearly made for an alchemist. Which once again made sense since he had just conducted an alchemy-themed dungeon.
Of course, that doesn't mean one can only find useful items. In the lockbox, maybe, but there are other ways to get it. Like killing another victim. Jake still has a rare sword in his spatial storage which makes him a bit salty because he can't use it.
That doesn't mean someone got the best item for that moment either. Right now, Jake wants a tube or a dagger more than anything, but he's already got the ring. A ring that suits him perfectly, but not as well as all of it.
Oh well, the looters couldn't choose, he joked to himself as he put the ring on his finger, as he felt the warm wave of stats rising.
The next few hours were spent exploring and searching for that sweet loot.
He did engage in a few fights here and there, but most of them were settled smoothly and quickly.
His new skill Splitting Arrow turned out to be very useful during an actual fight. That allowed Jake to practically do damage to multiple arrows with just one shot.
His skill did not have time to end, and he only needed to shoot arrows in the same way as usual. The only difference was that the arrow would split into several while it was flying, often making its opponent shocked as one strike suddenly turned into several.
Right now, he could easily split it into five arrows. He could have done more, but the cost of stamina increased significantly with each new arrow added to the split. If splitting an arrow into two requires 5 stamina, three requires 10, while four requires 20, then 35, and so on and so on.
One thing he found disappointing, but unsurprisingly, was that the poison did not break when he used the skill. It wasn't all bad, even when the arrow split into several, one fixed arrow that was 'right'.
Every time he shot a poisoned arrow, it would split apart, and the other arrow maintained its original appearance. This means that they still have poison on them if someone sees them, but it does not actually contain any toxic qualities.
One 'true' arrow does indeed store poison in all its glory and effect. This means that it works as a very useful trick where Jake shoots multiple arrows with only one of them being completely lethal.
Another way to identify the original arrow is because it did not disappear minutes after it was fired. The clones from the split will remain for a few minutes until they turn into energy and spread into the atmosphere once again.
It must be said that the conjured arrows from the tube do the same if left too long outside the tube. However, they took several hours, making them almost incomparable.
And speaking of quivers, he was quite excited about the latest loot he found.
[Token upgrade equipment tutorial (Rare)] – Upgrade rare starting items from tutorials to rare.
And the token doesn't come alone. Jake could not help but make a silly smile as he looked at the catch in his spatial storage.
It turned out that the unexplored inner area combined with his fairly powerful Sphere of Perception made quite a combo.
