The Primal Hunter's

The Primal Hunter's
Logically

He ran through the forest, feeling the wind blowing as he fled desperately. This whole situation is so fucked up. He went hunting with his regular crew like the other days of the past two weeks. While Richard's men and his camp had caused trouble for them, it usually did not interfere with his party's daily routine.

Their leader, a former soldier named Hayden, had told them to avoid hunting in the area between their two factions. The order that everyone followed was happy because no one was willing to take the risk against another human being. While fighting a savage beast was dangerous, other humans were simply a completely different kind of danger.

But they are still under attack. Not by a group, but by one person. No, fucking monster. He appeared out of nowhere, did not say a word, and had just started killing. Daggers flew everywhere, and what looked like a giant saw blade split their heavy warriors in two: a shield and everything.

It was chaos with blood and body parts flying everywhere. Fortunately, he had been lurking in front, becoming an archer and so on. Without any hesitation, he left after he saw half of their group die. But it was in vain.

A dagger hit his leg as he tripped, followed by another, and then another. His legs were completely crushed as he shouted and tried to crawl away.

"Damn, you're fast."

He heard a relaxed voice behind him as he turned to stare at the monster chasing after him - a young man with blond hair and blue eyes gazing back.

“Bung, come on, you don't have to run away like that. Do you know how much mana I throw away? Ah, forget it, give me some good info, and I promise I will let you go, ” said the teenager as he walked over, a wide, cynical smile on his face. The archer's eyes, however, were glued to the small red bottle in his hand. A health potion.

The archer finally saw only the smallest glimmer of hope as he bit the pain from his mutilated leg. He began to explain everything he thought could be interesting in the slightest. Even notes and comments that seem unnecessary. It was a burst of information because the archer only hoped that the monster would decide to save him.

After a while, as he continued to put out words, the teenager finally raised his hand, gesturing for him to stop.

"Well, I guess there are some useful things in all those absurd screams" the blond teenager said with a shrug.

“I told you everything, please ask me about anything. I promise I'll tell you whatever you want, ”Brothers plead, hope to prove himself quite useful.

“Oh, it's okay. I think I got everything worthwhile. ”

The archer heaved a sigh of relief as the slaughterer began to walk away from him. But when he got his hope, another dagger flew out from under the teenager's robe and hit the archer right in the chest, penetrating all the way to his grip.

The archer coughed up blood as he stuttered: "K .. ou ..."

“Oh yes, I lied. Sorry pal, gullible enough to believe that I will leave a very good experience and tutorial points alone. ”

The archer only heard the first part before he died.

The teenager, William, walked away from the corpse without looking back. Leaving a dagger on the man's chest. After all, he wanted them to know that the killer was human.

William is a little disappointed with this level. Only a few of them had their class evolution, which led to a rather boring fight. More importantly, it also means less experience and tutorial points.

Not that he expected much, just more than that. At least the tutorial points are worth the time. Not that he knew what they could be used for. He just likes to see his number go up. He especially likes to compare how many points he has with those killed - an objective measure of how superior he is to all of them.

For William, who had already reached level 32 in his class, killing a group of humans barely provided any experience. Still, it gives more tutorial points than killing a few animals at, or above, its own level. After Level 10, one had to kill around 10 or so beasts at your own level, while above Level 25, you had to kill even more. Coupled with ferocious beasts above level 25 getting stronger, it only made human hunting even more valuable. The notice did say he got extra experience from killing anything above the level of his race, but to be honest it felt ignored.

William does admit that humans are much more dangerous in direct combat, but they are also much easier to exploit. Their intelligence is their greatest weakness and strength simultaneously.

What he did had the same concept as how he got rid of his first group.

Richard and his herd had met other factions with almost equal strength and numbers. About half of the remaining survivors were in both camps, and many more joined that day, which was perfect for William.

Finding humans may be the only thing harder than killing them. The forest is large, the animals are numerous, and humans are usually grouped together. Having two figurative flares that attract more humans makes it much easier to track them.

The merger talks were not ideal, so William decided to throw a small wrench in the job by wiping out one of Richard's squads, and, beautifully deploying the battlefield to mimic what a big fight between two groups would look like.

He then once again spread some small rumors that the other factions were behind him, performing a naive teenage act, easily convincing some middle-aged women working as crafters.

Of course, Richard was skeptical, and the conversation did not stop immediately, so William also annihilated a group from another faction. It really ignited the fire.

Now there is a war full of casualties every day. While hunting groups often avoid each other, they still get into fights if they meet, and a few choice words are thrown in.

Richard's plan to divide the existing group and spread it, coupled with the system's selection method for entering the tutorial, ended up meaning many lost friends or family due to the war. William didn't even need to incite violence anymore; it all happened naturally.

Which also meant that he could kill as many others as he wanted. As long as there were no survivors left at the party, everyone only assumed another camp was behind him.

William could not kill the more prominent groups in double digits, but most were only five to six people, making them easy to pick.

He was still officially a member of Richard's faction, and he had even taken credit for some of the assassinations, of course acting all shaken and disturbed at being forced to kill others.

The concept of acting that was chaotic just because it killed someone was a natural reaction. Something William wasn't very good at the first time he killed, but he was nothing if not a quick learner. Now she sees herself as an experienced mourner after hours of practice.

It's not that William still thinks everything is stupid. Especially here in the tutorial. Some people take days to forget after killing someone. He remembered one of the archers who was good at making traps had acted as if the world was going to end just because his damn trap had completed its task. What does he expect of them?

William knew that he had to act illogically to conform to others. As the saying goes, when in Rome do as the Romans do, and when among fools, act like idiots. Richard at least considered killing people rather calmly, but again, from what William knew, the man had previous experience of killing people. Speaking of Richard, he could only lick his lips.

Without a doubt, the man was the one with the highest level and tutorial points other than himself. It will be glorious when he finally gets it. When it finally came time to cash in. However, for now, the man still had work to do, acting as an excellent little shepherd who gathered more prey for him. He has to bide his time.

It was not that he had the confidence to directly kill the man, especially if he was with his entire army. Everyone in the squad has their class upgrades, and William knows exactly how much of a boost it gives you.

William had developed his class into [Metal Savant], which was a huge boost to almost everything. His existing skills were getting stronger, his control was increasing massively, and he had even acquired some new skills. It also gave him metal manipulation, which meant he didn't even need the stick anymore.

He could now even conjure metal like steel from nowhere, which he mainly trained with juggling daggers. Which means he doesn't have to carry many of them all the time. Although he still always had a partner, because manipulating the existing one was less intensive mana than making it.

Conjured metal also disappeared after a while, making the fight even more difficult. Moreover, it took him a lot of time to make just one dagger, so he had to juggle what he needed before the fight. Of course, this was beyond any other skill to make a metal object like a shield he could make.

The third powerful new skill he had obtained was that of summoning a large rotating metal disc that he could send flying in a straight line. This was the one he had used to kill heavy warriors before, and it dealt a huge blow.

His only real weakness was that he still lacked a reliable method of defense. While he could conjure a shield and manipulate his movements by wearing metal armor, he would be happy to be able to turn his skin into steel or something. Demon attacks are of particular concern.

It was not that he had never experienced a stealth attack. Funny thing is, he can often walk straight towards people and attack them. Those idiots were gullible until their deaths.

After a good 30 minutes, he finally managed to return to the camp, which was now more of a full base. Cabs sprung up every day, peg walls were slowly built, and bonfires were everywhere. William has been assigned to one of the cabins, which he shares with a group of crafters.

William doesn't care about all the ridiculous politics going on in the camp. The member who is considered important gets the goods first, and William never gets anything, meaning he is not considered important. Just like he wanted.

Well, he's kind of important. After all, Richard was a sharp man. He knew the teenager was not weak in any way. William strongly doubted that the soldier knew much about him, only that he was one of the few people who could hunt alone.

He was even invited to important meetings several times. He likes to go there and just listen. Throw neutral or naive comments here and there.

Even when Richard so clearly investigated her to reveal more about her, he never expressed his true opinion. William did answer all his questions but still maintained the persona he had created with great care. He found it too suspicious not to answer at all.

William, over the years, did almost everything wrong. He thought someone had to be themselves. But he now knows that you have to be what people expect from you. What they expect from you. If they have a positive impression, stand that impression, and if they have a negative impression, try to refute that assumption.

That's exactly what he's done. He also knew he couldn't be too boring, or it would be suspicious. He should be shy yet competent enough not to be ignored completely. Trying to be too ordinary ends up being abnormal.

He had plenty of time in the middle to think about all this. That was until she was thrown into another center where they thought the best thing was to try and fuck her with drugs. They just need to 'rehabilitate' him a little bit and throw him back into society.

Although that never happened when the tutorial happened.

He was still angry at himself for being thrown in the middle first, to begin with. One mistake and everything is broken.

Shaking his head, he smiled at himself. It doesn't matter anymore. There is no center, no medicine, only him and the universe without end. In this new world, his abnormality was synonymous with strength - his 'defects' were his ideals.

While thinking about the beautiful future in front of him, he fell asleep as he slept for a while. Even with all the levels and evolution, one would still have to sleep a little occasionally. Just a few hours every few days, but you have to do it. It was not physical exhaustion, but mind exhaustion. This need for sleep was reduced at every level and significantly reduced in one go from evolution.

Sleeping only a few hours a little bit restores mana and stamina. So, it was not entirely a waste of time, as mana potions and stamina were extremely rare at this moment, with only a few remaining, all of them being stockpiled by Richard and his elites. Even William only hid a few, as walking around with dozens would quickly become too suspicious.

Waking up, he immediately felt refreshed as he jumped out of bed, ready to hunt again. It was still midday, so none of his cabin mates came to the cabin while he slept.

Out of the cabin, he started his routine. First, he went to talk to the artisans, chat with them and make friends, and all other social things. He has to keep up appearances. Also, it is beneficial when it comes to getting his needs accelerated.

He completed it with a short trip to The Smith, by far the most interesting member of the camp, other than perhaps Richard.

He is also the most useful besides healer. William made no secret that he had the skill to manipulate metal, so he used to ask The Smith to repair his dagger. He had even convinced the man to help modify the armor he had, making it lighter and more suitable for him. Apparently, from what he could muster, the man had a son the age of Williams.

Another strange, yet useful, sentiment that humans have. William is not so sure why family relationships have such an influence on people. He only knew that it was true and that humans often became illogical and, therefore, easily manipulated when it came to family matters. He learned that the hard way.

It's not that William doesn't see the logic in it. He understood why his parents had helped him and supported him. They need a guard and an income when they can't earn it themselves. Which only makes their actions even more confusing.

Getting his dagger back, he thanked The Smith, who once again tried to convince him to take the smithing. It's not that William won't, but he would rather raise his class level for now. Once his class level rose, he would switch to a leveling profession to raise his race level.

Saying goodbye, he once again ventured into the forest to hunt again. He had obtained some useful information from the naive archer before and decided to follow through. His main goal was still to hunt beasts and gain levels, but finding another small group of survivors would definitely be a welcome addition to his total number of tutorial points.

Three hours later, he fought a giant buffalo, naturally winning. It seemed to have no special magical power despite being above level 25. It was only big and could take a great hit. Besides, it's easy to fight. This ultimately leads to the buffalo becoming the preferred prey of every survivor because of the smaller risks associated with hunting.

This mighty beast was mutilated by William's spinning death disc. Like a saw blade, it penetrated into the beast, spinning as blood flew everywhere. The mana consumption was crazy, but it only took a few seconds before the buffalo split in half at the center.

Continuing its flight, the disc penetrated slightly into the tree, as William halted its rotation. A few seconds later, the disk began to smoke and immediately disappeared into nothingness. Where the pure is re-integrated with the atmosphere.

William was still somewhat confused by the strength of the trees, as he was completely unable to cut them in half, only able to pierce through his skin. Although only a few trees, others can be cut down as easily as ordinary pre-system trees.

His critical thoughts on the tree were severed miserably when he heard the voice of people talking. The sound of the fight was apparently loud enough to attract the attention of others.

Smiling, he lifted himself up to the tree by lifting himself up in his metal armor as he hid among some leaves, eagerly waiting for the welcome people to investigate.

He could only lick his lips when he saw the five people. None of them were from Richard's group because he didn't recognize them, though he had to admit that he didn't know everyone well enough.

The moment the survivors saw the beast that had been cut in half, they all stopped dead in their tracks. Before anyone could open their mouths, a giant spinning metal disk flew out from one of the trees, cutting off their casters.

What followed was a crazy fight to get their bearings, which ended up being futile as the daggers started flying towards them from all directions, followed by two other metal discs. The archer only managed to release a few arrows before he too fell, all of which were easily blocked by the metal wall that protected the crown of the tree where the attacker was hiding.

William, pleased with the fruitful ambush, jumped down from the tree as he looted the corpses. All have been 25 or more, and all have a lot of points. As he looted, he thought about how killing humans for the experience was still not worth it. He really hopes the tutorial points are very valuable.

William does not hate humans. He just doesn't really understand them most of the time. He hated how they often acted. Their illogical approach to almost everything. How they make stupid decisions that a million studies can say is stupid.

If the tutorial does not encourage him to kill them, most likely he will not even care about it. He would just be a good little boy and use it for healing and free crafts. But the system rewards him for killing them, so he'll kill them. The system wants as few survivors as possible.

William can do that. He will make sure the amount is as low as possible. The teenager is also nothing if not ambitious. His final goal of how much he wanted to survive reflected that.

It is not personal; it is just business - pure logic to advance itself and its power. So he concluded the optimal number of survivors was:

1
