Jake had no idea how long it had passed before he opened his eyes once more. Or, rather, he saw from his already opened eyes. He found himself in a room that looked rather beautiful. Scratch that disparaging statement; it looked like the president's room of an extraordinary fantasy world.
The striking, decidedly magical chandelier, hung on the ceiling, with each piece of furniture decorated with very detailed carvings - all depicting a snake.
"So, how long are you going to stand in the middle of my room before saying hello?" a voice said, surprising Jake from his stupor.
Turning around, he saw a scaly man, now wearing quite good clothes. It was a combination of a modern suit and a more ancient style. If he had to put his hand on it, it looked like something Dracula might be wearing.
“How can I get here?” ask Jake with a frown. He could not remember what he did before this and had a headache every time he tried it.
“Well, here's where it pulls. Our relationship of blessing is two-way, you know? Although this is the first for me for someone to appear like this. Know that you are doing this, ” said Malefic Viper, laughing as he added. “Although I did help a little.”
Raising his hands to his head, Jake still had no idea what had happened. Turning to Viper, he asked. “Where exactly are we?”
"My bedroom," said The Malefic Viper, still smiling. “More precisely, we are at the headquarters of my small Order. Great and amazing Malefic Viper Order!”
Stretching out his hands with a silly smile, Jake could only laugh a little. “You are very humble.”
"Well, a certain amount of ego is certainly necessary for a person to ascend to the divinity," Malefic Viper said, sitting at a table. "Come, sit down, and calm down a little."
Following that suggestion, Jake sat down on the chair while putting his head in his hands. What exactly did he do before he got here? He remembers wanting to meet his colleagues. But after that, everything seemed bleak to him.
He has made contact..meet them.attack.Jake suddenly opens his eyes wide while remembering. He has been betrayed. He has run. He made it through the barrier, and the last thing he remembered was to strike into the group of three raptors before he fainted.
"I'm dead" Jake murmured as he looked down at the ground. "I'm fucking dead."
Malefic Viper looked at him slightly while laughing out loud. "So, is this the afterlife you hoped for?"
Jake, still grim, looked at him. “So... This is what happens when you die? You show up in a conspicuous room with a god joke? ”
“Well, it depends entirely on many things, but yes, blessings can affect where your soul ends after death. “Although not, unless extraordinary circumstances represent themselves, death means death. End of story."
"Does dying during the tutorial count as such extraordinary circumstances?" Jake asked bitterly.
"Unfortunately no. At least I've never found it, ” said Viper. “Death, no matter how it happens, will make you leave the tutorial for good and all the gifts are gone. In addition to everything that is directly related to avoiding death, dying in battle results in that: Death.”
He made a big silly smile at Jake as he finished, the archer looking back confusedly at him. Until he was finally hit.
"Wait, what the fuck, I'm not dead yet?" Jake asked excitedly, staring intently at Viper. "What the fuck is this, man?"
Malefic Viper answered her with a hysterical laugh hearing Jake's scream. “You should have seen yourself! Pure gold! Pure gold!"
However, his excitement was only short-lived, as he turned severe. “However, this does not make your situation good. Your body is in a bad state, and your life force is very weak. Your physical body is likely in a very vulnerable condition at this time.”
Jake, hearing that, also turned serious. "What can I do? And how am I here if I'm not dead?”
“You can't do anything but try to calm down. Your body heals on its own; you just need not stress and inhibit such regeneration. As to why you are here .. because you choose to. Or at least some of you do. Not something I experienced before with someone of such low rank, ” said Malefic Viper, while continuing his long explanation.
“Karmic projection is nothing out of the ordinary, but the way you do it is very risky. It can be said that a part of your soul has traveled through the karmic bond created by the blessing I gave you the last time we met. I'd recommend not doing it this way again, as if the other party had the most nebulous malicious intentions towards you, destroying your projection, he said, and thus the fragment of your soul will be very easy. Damage to your soul will not be easily cured of it and can result in many negative side effects.”
Jake inevitably became a little scared after hearing that. "How can I sever a part of my soul and send it here?"
“About that, I can't help you. Well, I can, but I won't. The method to do such things is not common knowledge, ” Malefic Viper said as she shook her head. “Maybe you just sought refuge somewhere and accidentally walked here with some of your soul? Just guess.”
That must have been a possibility when Jake thought about it. Perhaps his instincts had taken over and, in desperation, somehow managed to do so. Which is also an example of how his instincts are like that: Instinct. It was a quick spontaneous reaction and a strong intuition. This means that he is far from always making the best decisions when he is just relying on his instincts. Especially not in complicated situations.
Maybe coming here was a mistake. At least Jake doesn't think the Malefic Viper has any malicious intentions on him, so he shouldn't be in any danger. But returning to his body and his tutorial, without a doubt, was his top priority.
“Can I return to my body somehow? Or is my consciousness split or something? How exactly does this work? ” ask Jaka.
“No, things are not like that. Whenever your body is ready, you will naturally return. I made sure of that. It's also only a small part; it's not like you're making an imitation, ” replied the scaly god. "Just wait and hope someone doesn't finish your body in the meantime."
Jake doesn't understand why the man is still in such a happy mood despite the possibility of his death at any moment. “I hardly dare ask, but... what will happen if someone does that?”
“Poof!” Viper said as he made a small puff of smoke emerge from his hand, "and you go."
“So... death?” Jake asked, wry at the show-off in front of him.
"Yes. Permanent,” answered. “Although don't worry, I feel you will be fine.”
Heaving a sigh of relief, Jake decided to trust him for now. "So ... What should I do in the meantime?" ask Jaka.
“Well, since you dared infiltrate my private room, the least you can do is cheer me up a little,” Malefic Viper joked. “What have you done since passing the challenge dungeon? And did you get a good gift? ”
“I think it's passable.” Jake started while explaining what he has been doing since their last meeting. To his surprise and embarrassment, the Malefic Viper had heard his little prayer before swallowing the poison mixture he used to pass through the dungeon of challenge.
He said to go back to the tutorial forest but quickly found that there was actually not much to talk about, so they liked their last meeting and started discussing broader subjects and themes instead.
Elsewhere in the Order, a green-haired woman sat in meditation. Opening his eyes, he sighed while thinking about how to handle the return of the Malefic Viper. The banquet had gone well, and the proper ceremony would begin in just a few days.
He could not help but laugh a little at the thought of those fools that the Malefic Viper had spoken to the day before and their shock upon learning that they had spoken directly to their Protector.
Waking up, he decided to walk in the hall. After all, he was the Hall Master. Lord Protector had returned to his territory and started making his own preparations together with his direct followers. The wages will be magnificent.
As he walked through the hall, he finally ended up near his Protectors room. Not wanting to disturb him, he prepared to leave but heard voices coming from the room.
"That sounds so stupid to you" said an unfamiliar voice.
Surprised, Head Hall kept listening. He knew everyone who had access to this area of the Order, yet he did not recognize this one. He considered scanning the room with mana but was afraid it would offend the Viper.
More importantly, who is this person talking to? Could it be their god? No, no way, no one's brave
"If the goal is to be slapped in the face, of course," she heard the other person answer, also laughing.
Freeze him standing there ... does this man ... mock his god? Did another god enter without his knowledge? But what god would dare come here and talk so casually with the Viper himself?
No, he had to investigate, even if his life depended on it. Perhaps it was a test to see his devotion by not allowing contempt for his honor? Yeah, it has to be.
With great determination, he walked into the room. He had already decided to enter, but teleporting would still be a little impolite.
Just as he was about to knock on the door, the door opened, revealing the events inside. Two people were sitting at a small table. No, one god and.. projection? He sensed the faint aura of the Viper itself coming from the magic image, but the aura it emitted was from a different person.
“Ah, Jake, this is Viridia, Ordoku's big boss. Well, Snappy and I are not included. The human boss, I guess, will be most accurate, ” he said, when the projection also turned to look at him.
Jake and the woman looked at each other as they froze.
To Jake, he seemed impossible. Green hair, glowing yellow eyes, and a face that would make any model of the Earth shy. To be honest, he looks too perfect to look natural. Maybe he has a hidden skill or something, but Jake feels that the only reasonable response is to show loyalty to him.
Fortunately his bloodline did not care much for it, so he managed to stay seated.
Viridia, on the other hand, was similarly shocked. This guy is Jake, his 'friend' Patron. Obviously, the man was weak, but he got a strange feeling as he looked into his eyes. He couldn't describe it, but if he were to compare it to something, it would be a lower feeling of respect, unlike what he felt when he was in the presence of his Protector.
It was the result of True Blessing without a doubt. The blessing on top of the great benefits it has provided is also a message. That he was elected. Most holders are known as popes, prophets, saints, and champions. It was a way to mark the most critical human being by a god. Which really makes Jake an outlier.
"Eh, nice to meet you," said Jake.
"This servant greets the chosen one" Viridia said on her knees, surprising Jake.
“Aaa and she made it awkward,” Malefic Viper laughed in annoyance. “Come, sit. We were discussing how to handle rejection when your former crush decided to try and kill you in cold blood. ”
"And the people I thought were my friends," Jake added, because he looked a little oppressed. "Although I still think it's all based on some stupid misunderstanding."
“Misunderstand it or not. It doesn't matter if you die now, does it? ” said the Viper while shaking his head. “What is done is done; the goal now is to move forward. And your sweet revenge, of course. You messed up this time, foolishly walked into an ambush that was clearly like a moron, and was destroyed. Learn from it, and don't do it again.”
"I don't know. I just thought that I could-"
"Well, you're thinking wrong. Stop being naive and confident. You're too weak to act like that."
Turning to Viridia once again, who was still standing there unsure of what to do, Malefic Viper ordered.
“Sit down, and give us your opinion. The perspective of women is always valuable.”
Rushing like a frightened rabbit, he rushed to sit down as he tried to calm himself down and formulate a response. This situation was too informal for his taste, and he could not help but be nervous. Strengthening himself, he managed to squeeze out: "I believe the Protector's advice is the best thing to do."
Shaking his head, the Malefic Viper sighed inwardly. Devout followers are good to have, but they become bad conversation partners. Turning to Jake, he continued.
"Jake, what do you want?"
"I want to get back into my body and hopefully not die, I guess?" he answers.
“No, what's your goal? What do you want in the long run?” ask the Viper again.
What do I want ? He didn't think too much about it. He wanted to survive, of course, and that was the main thing in everything. He has always been a rather one-track person, focusing on the issues at hand first and foremost. The looming death threat, of course, becomes a good motivator not to get too immersed in thoughts in the basement.
But thinking about it more deeply, why would he want to endure? Wh-wh-what for? In addition to the basic survival instinct that every living thing has. What does he want to achieve? Right now, he wanted to clear up the misunderstanding with Jacob and the others?
He indeed wanted to take revenge on the red-robed bastard with the spear along with Richard and the metal caster.
However, if you think about long-term goals, you want to find more challenges and battles. Not only against weak or cunning prey, but also strong enemies. He craved the almost ecstatic feeling he got from fighting the ambushers on that first night.
He wants to overcome challenges and rise higher in the system. See exactly how strong he and his enemies are. He wants to improve.
"I want to do whatever I want" Jake replied after thinking about the matter deeply.
“True freedom is indeed a worthwhile goal,” Malefic Viper said as he nodded. "But what do you want to do with this freedom?"
“I want to be able to see what this multiverse has to offer. Challenge myself and see how far I can go. Or at least come out in a cool way,” Jake replied with a mischievous smile.
Viper returned her smile: “Then don't let yourself be chained to your past. Stand above them all. Scheme and planning, in the end, fell in the face of absolute power. Reach the level at which your words become the truth; misunderstandings are dispelled by the wave of your hand. Your enemy is either cowering in fear or dying. Struggling for progress means continuing to move forward mercilessly.”
"That sounds like a plan," Jake laughed as he looked up at the ceiling that was starting to get blurred at the moment.
"I think my body wants its soul back" he said, standing up from the chair, Viper did the same.
"My friend's heart. May we meet again soon, ”dewa said, adding. “Hopefully it wasn't because you almost died. Stay true to yourself, but stop being stupid.”
With the last fist with the god, he nodded. “Thank you for the talk.”
"Remember it, Jake," said The Viper, as she turned extremely severe, letting her aura sweep through the room. “Freedom does not come without strength, and strength does not come cheaply. Try for that. Hunger for that. Make it so that you will never be betrayed again. So no one dared. And if they do, destroy them like pitiful ants. You will find yourself on a mountain of corpses. Make sure you're the only one standing on.”
These were the last words Jake heard as his projected body disappeared as the soul fragment returned from its original place. Turning to the more astonished Hall Master who had just quietly observed everything, he smiled.
“So, what do you think?”
However, he did not hear those words as he trembled with pure killing intent in his aura that was still attached. For all his unusual antics and personality, he had almost forgotten.
Malefic Viper was never a benevolent god.
