The Primal Hunter's

The Primal Hunter's
Tutorial Commences

Jake felt as if he had just blinked his eyes and then suddenly found himself somewhere completely different. There was no prompt except for the system message, no feeling of being thrown through space and time; he just kinda.

She finds herself in ... room? This one is much bigger than the one before. Scratch it, calling it a room is an understatement. Although he could see the ceiling, he could only see what looked like a wall in the distance on one of its sides. On the roof was a huge circular light that looked like the sun.

Looking from the ceiling to the wall, this entire place seemed to have some sort of circular design, like a huge dome. He stood on top of what he could only identify as a huge pillar, one of many pillars scattered in all directions.

Where one would expect that floor, he instead saw a vast forest spreading out in all directions. Yet not a single tree reached near the top of the pillar. Not because the trees were small, some were easily seen over a hundred meters away, but because the pillars themselves were very tall.

As he began to wonder if the system had somehow forgotten about him or what had really happened, the window and the believable sound appeared again.

*Welcome to the tutorial*

He felt a warm glow all over his body as he heard another notification sound accompanying him.

Degree obtained: [Predecessor of the New World]

A title? The one that I assume everyone got, Jake thought, quickly checked.

[New World Predecessor] – Complete introduction and enter the tutorial as the forerunner of the New World. +3 all statistics. Delivering skills: [Interminated Tongues of the Myriad Race (Unique)].

Three of all the stats out of nowhere were only acceptable. It was also likely a warm light source from before. Although he was still far from sure how much it would help. However, his skills were a little more real as he looked at what he was doing.

[Tongue Endless Myriad Race (Unique)] - Allows you to communicate with a myriad of races across the multiverse. Unique skills are given for free to the pioneers of a newly started race.

The skill somehow allowed him to communicate with other races. Is it just speech, or writing too? Again, more questions, and efforts to focus on the skill did not pay off further. He even tried to use his newly acquired Identifying skill, with nothing happening.

Hearing something behind him, he was startled and quickly turned around only to see that others had also been moved to the same platform. With his hands on the handle of his knife, he noticed who it was.

“Yakub?” he asked rhetorically, looking at the man in front of him. Jacob no longer wore his suit but instead wore chainmail, gloves, and what looked like leather pants with a pair of sturdy-looking boots, everything looks like it was taken from a costume rack from a medieval movie.

Jacob also seemed perplexed by the entire situation as he took a second or two to calm himself down before hearing and seeing Jake.

“Jake!? Oh, man, nice to meet you! Did you see the others?" Jacob asked with high energy as usual in a hopeful voice.

“No, I'm just as surprised to see you here. After we enter the elevator, do you also – “

But before Jake could ask, another flash of light appeared, and then again, before he could even see who it was, another flash of light, and then again, until they became a total of 10 people on the platform before blinking stopped.

Jake instantly recognized everyone, as 5 of them had been in the elevator with him, and the other 4 were employees at his company. To her relief, Caroline was among the newcomers and looked fine, now wearing a white robe with what looked like a small stick on her hip.

"What happened"

"Hey why"

“You saw Mike!?”

"Where-"

Everyone started talking to each other: all confused, but some more than others. Jake only stands back when he tries to understand the situation internally while, of course, listening to the others. After the initial panic subsided, they all calmed down and began to assess their situation. After all, they are all professionals. It had nothing to do with Jacob trying to calm them down. Not at all.

After a quick round of questions and answers, it seemed like they had all been moved into their respective interrogation rooms and had gone through roughly the same ordeal as Jake had experienced. However, Jake learns that he seems to be missing some questions, as others have found some more details. One is that new skills can be acquired every 5 levels with their classes.

As they continued on, they also did a tally in their different classes. They turned out to have 1 warrior of light, 2 medium and heavy variants, 2 archers, 3 casters, and 1 healer. Rather balanced, something Jake suspects the system has done on purpose. Or maybe just luck.

Their armor and clothes were also very different. No longer were all wearing the 'cow' shirts and clothes they used to wear. Light warriors who wore leather armor, medium warriors, Jacob one of them, who wore chain gear, heavy warriors wore what looked like poorly made armor.

The other archer, known to Jake as Casper of R&D, wore the same robe as him, holding a wooden bow like him as well. Casper is one of the few people who always hangs out with Jake during work. They have to interact a lot because of what they do and naturally fit in. Both are somewhat introverted and happen to have some of the same hobbies. He was not sure if he could classify him as a friend, but at least a close acquaintance. Also, they both suck on something romantic, making them have the same passion in that department.

Joanna was one of the most panicked people, with her husband Mike not among them. He himself had chosen to become a caster, probably only because it seemed to be the least physically demanding. Despite thinking about it, she once said that she and her children loved a certain book about a wounded witch boy.

He also learned from the conversation that it seems you could ask for a different weapon in the Introduction, something he was unaware of. Perhaps he can get a modern compound bow .. although he doubts it, considering the whole medieval theme is underway.

The last two classes were the other two casters, all of them wearing brown robes that were very similar to the ones he was wearing, seemingly a little more comfortable, the material was more like silk. They all had wooden sticks in their hands, something he thought of as a magic wand. And finally, their one healer, Caroline, in her white robe, also looked very silk-like, with her smaller white staff.

Another topic that is discussed naturally is the skills that are given. As Jake expected, everyone has gained Identifying and translation skills included in the given title upon entering this so-called tutorial. Classroom skills are another story.

Light warriors have dual holding skills, which provide encouragement when using two weapons, throwing weapon skills, and the same rare skill, Jake's Archer's Eye colleague called Quickstep, allows the soldier to create speed blasts quickly. But in reality, the skill only made one take a step a little faster than usual, completely disappointing in practice.

The heavy warrior had the same sword & shield skills, two-handed weapon skills, and a skill called Toughen Up, which allowed the warrior to make a temporary increased toughness effect. It was also, very disappointing, not even having any visual cues at all. Also, Bertram said it still hurt when Jacob stabbed him, even making the effect questionable.

The archery skill Jake already knows, of course.

The castors also have three skills, the first skill called proficiency of magic tools, which allows them to use a magic wand and other magic items, an attacking skill called Mana Bolt, which allows them to use a magic wand, and a survival skill called Mana Barrier. The barrier was also sucked in, as it was so weak that an ordinary sweep with a sword could break it, but the mana bolt seemed quite strong.

The healer class also has 3 skills, one called Heal, which is quite surprising, allowing the healer to heal something, one called Regeneration, that turned out to be a passive aura that allowed the healer's allies to recover health faster, and the same final skill as the caster that allowed them to use magic items. From this skill, Jake is very interested in aura, and how exactly he determines who is allied and who is not.

Another thing they also determined was that identification skills did not work on others. It doesn't even return the basic message. There's no response. It seemed that the rarity of the skill was too low or forbidden for some reason. Jake looks up at Caroline and decides to ask about the aura, but she is interrupted before she can.

"Everyone! Look at other platforms. I think there's someone else in it, ” said Heavy Warrior Bertram, attracting everyone's attention. As Jake looks at the nearby platform, his better vision comes in handy, as he can see some details.

There seemed to be 10 individuals on the other platforms as well, and as he looked around, so did everyone else around him. He still sees some bursts of light on some other platform, but after a minute or two, everything is silent, and the tutorial starts with real.

As Jake read the information, he suddenly felt the pillar beneath him tremble slightly, as it slowly began to take down. He quickly calmed himself down and checked if all his equipment was properly installed. As he did this, he wondered how he could be so calm regardless of the situation and noticed that everyone was also strangely calm, even though it was different from person to person. Perhaps it had something to do with willpower, or more likely it was due to a dependence on a particular individual.

Throughout the conversation, Jacob has been the guiding light for everything. He has made sure one person speaks at a time, that useful information has been retrieved, and that everyone gets a turn. It was an unwritten rule that he was the leader of the group. That Jake, of course, had absolutely no intention of opposing him.

The group calmly discussed their plan of action during the descent, Jacob instantly taking the lead once again, of course.

They agreed to focus on the first aspect of all this: Survival. They all had weapons, and all had potions; warriors and archers each had 3 health potions and 3 stamina potions, respectively, while the castors and Caroline have 3 health herbs and 3 mana herbs.

Moreover, all they had were clothes on their bodies. The rest of the internal discussion mainly revolves around the details of the tutorial that are strange, such as the duration that seems completely random. They also came to an agreement that hunting down ferocious beasts was a must. None of them liked it, but somehow they had to eat. Based on the rules of the tutorial, it seems impossible to avoid violence. They also collectively agreed that they would not antagonize other survivors unless they had no other choice.

Jake disagrees with everything but doesn't want to assume the role of a demon supporter or start unnecessary fights. He has realised from before that maybe he's a bit of an outlier. He did not really understand the unwillingness to hunt. He himself was quite happy with the idea.

“First of all, we must find water, food, and shelter. Flora does not seem to be the same as the one on earth, so we cannot trust our current knowledge of what is safe and what is unsafe to eat. We should try to see if identifying skills can help distinguish edible plants from toxic ones. The system also mentions animals, so hunting will likely also be an option, if not necessary, to secure food sources,” Jacob said. “But we also have to be aware of the other survivors. We should not be aggressive, but should not also be considered submissive. Chances are we have to hunt animals as the system says to get stronger and survive. If we cooperate and do our best, I'm sure we can all go home safely.”

The small speech was a bit exaggerated, considering they had already discussed those points but it seemed to have everyone on the same path. Jake is once again reminded why Jacob is the youngest department head their company has ever owned. He has achieved this, relying solely on his competence and charisma, plus a bit of nepotism, but that is almost expected in the job market in this day and age, or, well, before this day.

The only thing that made Jake a little disappointed was seeing Caroline staring at Jacob with stars in her eyes. Not that this was the time or place for such ridiculous thoughts. The pillar was getting closer and closer to the ground.

When they finally get under the trees, Jake can see some bird-like creatures hiding in the trees, though he can't see the details. Two months he had to survive for two months in this forest.

When they were only a few feet off the ground, Jake braced himself for whatever was to come.

The pillar finally reached the ground, and they found themselves in the open. The pillars beneath them strangely seemed to pierce the ground, leaving only grass under their feet, leaving no evidence that the huge pillars ever existed.

Taking a deep breath of fresh air Jake clenched his fists in his bow. He's feeling a little nervous. But more than that, a strange feeling started bubbling from within him. Jollification.

His boring world had changed, and he had no intention of making this damn forest his grave.
