For a human to meet a god is far from a common occurrence throughout the multiverse. Only the most outstanding ones had the chance to interact with the gods up close. And even then, it rarely happens.
However, the tutorial is completely unusual. It was an event that affected every living thing throughout the multiverse. Not the tutorial itself, but why it happened; it marked the beginning of a new era when the multiverse expanded with the introduction of other universes.
Gods, among all, are the multiverse entities most involved with tutorials. It was one of the few times where they actually moved with greed and desire. This is the time to get an unachievable reward for them - the chance to gain more power and influence.
The most significant way to earn this reward is by finding capable humans among the new initiates. Find them and make them your followers. This is done through something like Jake meeting the Malefic Viper in his territory. This also means that Jake's experience of meeting a god is not unique. Casper had met one, and so did Smith.
It was slower than Jake, but he had shown great potential in forging and was recognized by the system.
At least that's what Smith told William. He recounted how he met the god and had been given blessings along with guidance. Contrary to what William expected, he did not meet Ferroras, but one of his fellow gods, known as Camicus, the god of the workshop.
“That sounds interesting, but what does this have to do with me?” William eventually interjected because he was getting tired of long explanations.
"Ferroras, the iron god, really likes you, son," Smith chuckled. "But apparently you rejected it or what?"
"I don't think I did it?" he replied, actually being honest for once. He doesn't remember ever rejecting a god, except...
“I was told that you have classes on offer. One is related to the god of iron,” explained The Smith. “You just didn't choose it.”
William does remember getting a class with the Ferroras on his behalf. However, to be honest it was not very good and provided a much worse bonus than what Metal Savant currently had.
Looking at his old system's message, he goes back in time before finally returning to the time when he had the evolution of his class.
Metal Savant, he naturally already knew because it was his current class.
Metal Savant – The Metal Savant stands out among the top geniuses when it comes to manipulating metals. After demonstrating extreme talent as a caster and as a mana manipulator, you have begun to walk the glorious path to power. This class focuses heavily on metal manipulation and all metal-related magic. The nature of the class is inherently offensive, leaving defense to caster skills, with a focus on intelligence and wisdom. Your path has just begun, but you have shown yourself to be a true scholar. Bonus Stat per level: +7 Int, +5 Wis, +4 Will, +2 Per, +6 Free Points
The class is amazing, he thinks. That makes him superior to every other survivor he encounters except Jake's dark star. The stat bonus was quadrupled compared to what he had before evolution, rising from 6 per level to 24. Most of his free points have become intelligence, but he also begins to put in a little vitality after a run-in with Jake.
As for the class of Ferroras, he passed .. it was truly terrifying compared to what he got.
Promising Mage of Ferroras – A mage of Ferroras shows great promise on his path to power. As a Caster, you have made clear your ability to manipulate metal and mana itself, offering you a clear path to power. This class is heavily focused on metal manipulation and general metal magic but is specialized in iron magic. The class nature is balanced between defense and attack, making you a versatile fighter in both long range and close range. Your future God of Protection, Feroras, believes in your talents. Bonus Stat per level: +4 Int, +3 Wis, +2 Will, +2 Tough +1 Vit, +1 Per, +4 Points Free
Everything about it is just worse. The descriptions were similar to each other as both of them were metal magicians, but this one was less impressive. William doesn't promise, he's a real genius. And the last sentence about the "protective god of the future believing in him" only made him misunderstand. Reminds him of what the damn psychologist keeps telling him.
Classes also provide far fewer statistics, providing only 17 per level. That's more than the difference in the value of the entire base caster class. William would be a complete idiot if he chose that shitty class just because some equally annoying god had attached his name to that class.
"Well, yes, I understand, but I chose another one that I prefer," William explained, showing no signs of explaining further.
"What you're doing is done" Smith replied. “But you did pick up a skill with his name attached later, didn't you?”
"Yes. Continues to?"
“That's how you become attached to the child of the gods. At least in part, ”The Smith explained as he continued. “Karma or something. After all, it means the god knows where you are, and he wants to help you. ”
"And why did I become a follower of a certain god?" William asked indifferently. He had no interest in attaching himself to such a strange religion.
"Because you can't win this shit alone, William," the man replied. “But together, we can win this tutorial. I'm able to make something for you to make you much stronger than before, and in turn, you can annihilate others. Especially Richard.”
Suddenly William began to pay more attention. He knew how big of a difference powerful equipment could make, and based on that isolation barrier; smith was not entirely without talent in terms of crafting. Having his help will no doubt prove to be beneficial.
“Why Richard in particular?” William asked curiously. He was unaware of any conflict between them.
“I didn't enter this tutorial alone, you know? I came with my son and daughter-in-law, ” The Smith said as her mood declined. “I promise to protect them. I try to. We thought the night was safe, but it turned out it was time for the bottom feeder to come out. Richard and his men disagreed with the three of us just to unite. They killed them both when I went hunting at night.”.
"That sucks," William said without thinking. Wait; what? Why is that a bitch?
"Thank you" Smith smiled. “You know, my son is only your age. It's too early to get married, but they claim to be in love, and who am I to stop them?”
Wiping away the tears that appeared in the corner of her eyes, she continued. “That's why I want revenge on that motherfucker. I can fight, but I have always been a blacksmith and not a fighter. I can't win. But you can, William. My Lord has told me this is a way to fulfill my dreams and guide me. I'm sure you're stronger than you let everyone know. Let me help you become stronger. ”
William maintained his serious expression, even though deep down he thought how stupid this was. Casper's a fucking trapper again, but he didn't think it was that stupid. He understood why the man wanted to take revenge for their loss. Even Casper started to seem less reasonable?
“I want you to find the determination to do whatever it takes. You must be willing and able to kill. Not only a savage beast but also a human, ” said the man with a sigh. "I know it's not fair for me to ask you, but I beg you."
Smith's face was solemn as he looked at William with an apologetic look.
William looked at her a little. He felt like agreeing, but he already had a deal with Richard. After all, the camp leader could offer more benefits than a single blacksmith. But he agreed.
“Good... but how?”
"Come on," Smith replied as he stood up from the chair, "join me in the workshop."
With that, the man waved his hand as the cabin floor split apart, and a furnace appeared. He summoned forges and hammers, along with a bunch of metal ingots that were different from nothingness.
"Shelf skills," the man replied before William could ask, "just work with items related to the blacksmith, but that gets the job done."
Standing up straight, he looked into William's eyes. “Now, it's time for us to prepare you for the big battle.”
Jake climbed the hill as he got higher. He avoided all the ferocious beasts he could because he had no intention of getting into close combat for the time being. Basic Stealth, although it was undoubtedly a skill he was rarely aware of, still proved useful. With the night, there were many shadows around to activate the bonus effect of his bracelet.
Sneaking around, he soon found himself in a crack. He called it a crack, but it was more like a huge valley between two mountains. He had to admit that he slightly underestimated the size of the inner area. Sure, its size is about the same as the entire outer area in a pure square kilometer, but the big difference lies in the verticality.
The area was filled with mountains, fissures, and valleys, the highest mountain in the middle of the area was as high as one kilometer. While it may not sound too much, one should consider that the mountain does not have a peak but rather looks like a volcano. As in, it has a hole on it.
Something that the other three mountains he was currently looking at also had in common. Hopefully, they're not volcanoes. He didn't see any smoke coming out of their peaks, but then again, he was pretty sure it was just something that happened in movies and cartoons.
As for the type of ferocious beast in this inner area. There are a lot of raptors. They seem to be the main enemy and come in a variety of colors. Several other dinosaur-like animals also roam around, but most are raptors.
However, raptors only occupy open areas in the mountains and sometimes between the mountains, but they mainly appear as 'fillers' beasts'. In the crevices, as Jake is looking at, biodiversity is rapidly increasing. The world under the cliff looked like its own entire world.
Pulling his bow as he observed the first beast he saw loitering below. It looked like an evolved version of a ferret found outside in the forest from where he stood. His high perception allowed him to see the beast as clearly as daylight. Not to mention the Hunter's Sight improved his eyesight significantly.
Another difference between this area and the outside area was the behavior of the beasts. Here they do not experience strange coma conditions at night but instead continue to roam. Nocturnal animals such as ferrets actually become more active at night.
Taking out an arrow, he grabbed the arrow with his palm as he channeled the Blood of the Malefic Viper to turn his blood into poison. Letting the arrow cut off his hand, he completely immersed it in his blood.
After fighting with the survivors, he began to run out of poison. He started throwing them around during the battle, wasting most of them as they did not damage the ground or trees. Heck, despite throwing so many, he only got one kill because a healer was present on the battlefield. Coupled with people who seemed to be aware of the use of its poison. Thanks to William's colleague, no doubt.
Shaking his head, he returned to the matter at hand as he pulled the bloodstained arrow. Pulling his bow, he began to charge Powershot as he tracked the movement of the beast. After about 10 seconds, he released his rope with explosive force as the arrow was released and flew towards the still unsuspecting badger.
The poor beast had no idea what hit it before it was suddenly slammed by an arrow that was completely crushed when it hit its back. The poison proved completely unnecessary as the kinetic force behind the arrow alone smashed the inside of the beast into an unrecognizable mess.
The beast died instantly, and the bit of vitality left in it was quickly finished off by the poison which, along with the crushed arrows, had spread throughout the entire shape of the damaged beast.
The notice confirmed his death as he felt the level rise.
*You have killed [Venomfang Badger – lvl 48] – Experience bonuses obtained to kill enemies above your level. 56000 TP obtained*
*'DING!' Class: [Ambicious Hunters] have reached level 26 - Allotted stat points, +4 free points*
One shot of a level 48 monster by him. He didn't know if he was defeated or what, but it really looked extreme. Then again, he had no one else to truly compare himself to. Although based on the spear attack from the fire caster, he might also be able to reproduce the result. We should also remember that the only reason why he could channel Powershot for so long was because of his high defensive stats.
Sitting down, he relaxed his numb arm as he let it slowly recover. Although he could kill monsters of a higher level in a single attack, it was not easy. His stamina expenditure was insane, and the tension in his arm had also become bad enough that he had even lost health points during the shooting.
He knew ten seconds was too much, but he was still testing. He will slowly fix it and find the perfect balance. Between spinning the stamina potion and shooting arrows, his hunting speed should be extreme if his theory is correct. And every time he got too low in stamina, it only meant a great opportunity to make a few more potions and maybe even one or two poison potions.
As he relaxed, he thought about his plan, as he also pondered another interesting part of the tutorial.
The number of tutorial points per kill also seemed to rise by two thousand per level for all beasts above level 25. Based on the raptor, boar, and badger Jake just killed. He still did not know what use those points were. According to the description of the tutorial, they will likely show its value every time the tutorial ends.
Waking up, he went out of his mind when he saw other ferrets starting to gather around the corpses of their fallen comrades. Taking his bow once more, he massaged his shoulder and broke his neck as he prepared another poisoned arrow.
It's time to start this hunt for real.
