The distance of the house and its Kindergarten is not far. But Dul realized when his mother accidentally missed the alley of his house a few meters before asking the transport driver to stop.
“We sat there first. Drink only,” says Sejah.
Dul felt no need to ask why his mother invited him there. Branded fried chicken outlets still feel very expensive even with abundant discounts.
“We'll wait a minute there. I'll be anter home. I am ashamed if I have to fuss with your father during the day like gini,” said Dijah.
“Iya, nothing,” replied Dul.
Without the presence of his father, that day had passed very perfectly for Dul. However, at that time they were sitting like two fugitives. His mother ordered a glass of the cheapest drink as the reason they were sitting there. The actual drink can not be called as an excuse because his mother immediately sucked the contents of the paper cup up to half.
Half an hour they sat on the outer seat of the fried chicken outlet, heard someone calling his mother. The voice of a man. Dul turned his head and did not recognize who the man was.
“Dijah?” call the man again.
“Sony,” sahut Colored.
“A long time no see.” The man approached Dijah and glanced at Dul. “What is your activity now?” sony asked, pulling up one seat next to the Sejah and sitting down casually.
“Mmm? Activity? I just returned home to wait for my son on the first day of school,” replied Dijah.
Dul sat quietly observing the man opposite him. The man was wearing a neat black suit uniform with his left right pocket shirt covered.
“Oh, this is your son. I guess nephew,” said Sony again. Looking at Dul for a while then looking back at Dijah.
“Yes, this is my son. Dul, it's Mom at High School. But we were not in class. Not too often chat,” is obviously Colored on Dul.
Dul nodded while looking at his mother. Understand with that simple explanation without the need to ask who the man in front of them is.
A hot afternoon weeks later, Dul finished his lesson at eleven p.m. All the children rushed out of the classroom to see their parents or relatives who picked them up. Dul steps towards the school fence alone. Knew that his mother must have waited on the long bench of the meatball trader.
From the fence, he wanted to exclaim as usual. However, that afternoon he abandoned his intention to see his mother sitting back at his school with a man he knew as Sony.
“I don't think I can approach you, Jah. I talked to my mom, she said it's not a problem you're a widow. But if you bring another child the story. What can not your child be entrusted to his father?”
Sony's voice at that time sounded very clear even though it was spoken very slowly. Dul's light footsteps made his mother and the man unaware of his presence.
Dul felt his heart pounding. I was angry at Sony's words. Why would a stranger bother his life? Why would that man not accept his existence? He's not a wayward kid. And he sure ate it only cost him a little money. Dul looked at his mother's back with an anxious look. He was really worried about what his mother would say to answer the man.
“I told you from the beginning. I have no intention of getting married again. You took me without me forcibly and now you're talking like that? Ask my son to go to his father? Without strangers, my life and Dul are fine. You're not just offending me, you're angry. How long have you known me until I said that?”
Dul felt his mother's voice had started to rise. He held back his footsteps and took a few steps back to get back in front of his school fence.
“I'm talking about you, really, it's rough. It's nothing yet. His name is a filial son I must ask my mother,” said Sony again.
“I never asked you to ask your mother. Yeah, had. My son has come home. Don't come back for more.”
Dul saw his mother standing up from the bench, he immediately resumed his steps. “Bu!” yells.
“Kok, long? Mom waited for me from earlier. Come, here. We eat meatballs first,” invite Sejah, pat empty space on a long bench.
Dul sees a man named Sony who he later knows works as a driver in an office turn on his motorcycle and leave the place. His mother did not look sad. His face is ordinary. Even his mother looks relieved and cheerful when offering him meatballs. He decided not to ask his mother about Sony.
Dul devours his meatballs while answering a question about the lesson of the day. In his little heart, Dul realizes that his existence can be a stumbling block for his mother's future.
