“Seven years ago, what did Andra do in this place??” Keila then corrected the question she wanted to ask Liam.
Liam then stopped his activities and walked closer towards Keila. Liam stood parallel to Keila as he stared at the photo that Keila was currently looking at. “I think this is the reason why the Director never let Miss Keila in here.”
“What does that mean, Liam?” Keila looked at Liam with a confused look. “Why can't I see this photo?”
“This photo is a testament to the Director's first meeting with his first love. That's what the Director told me when I asked a few years ago.” After saying that, Liam then took out his phone and opened the photo gallery stored in his phone. Liam then showed a photo to Keila and said, “This is a photo belonging to the Director when I first met him during college.”
Keila stared at Liam's phone screen with a puzzled look. Keila was confused as to why Liam showed her an old photo of Andra. But the faintest of Keila's small memories accumulated in Keila's brain appeared in his mind along with Andra's words when he was with her on the bridge.
“Decision to stay afloat or let go of something important to me.”
“At first I chose to give up but-“
“But something happened and made me choose not to give up.”
After staring at Liam's phone screen and remembering something. Keila then gazed back at the photo in front of her hanging in Andra's apartment. Why can I forget it? I'm really stupid. Now it all makes sense. The reason Andra did everything for me, the reason Andra always referred to herself as my lover even when I insisted on refusing her, then the reason of the bouquet that always came to me: it was all because Andra was the bespectacled boy I helped seven years ago. After discovering that important fact, Keila's memory then spins up her conversation with Andra while together on the bridge, which recounts Keila's encounter with the bespectacled boy.
“We both talked for a moment. I asked him why his friends bullied him. I also asked her why she did not fight them and allowed herself to become a victim of bully.” Keila replied while recalling those old memories.
“Then, what did the boy say? What's the reason the boy became a victim of bully?” Andra asked with a curious face.
“The reason the child is a victim of bully is the same as the reason most children are victims of bully in various places: because of a slightly geeky appearance, because of wearing thick glasses and lastly, because they are wearing glasses, because I don't want to fight.” Keila still remembered her conversation with the bully victim's child.
“Then did you just shut up to see the reason for the bullying?”
Keila shook her head. “No. If I don't remember wrongly, I spoke to the boy at the time. But it seems, I forgot what I told the boy time.”
Keila nodded her head hesitantly while trying to recall her old memories of that time. “Yes, I can't clearly remember my conversation with the boy. Even his face and apparently, I can't remember even though I'm talking about it right now. Only one thing from his looks I remember: his thick glasses.”
“Ah after speaking at length, you forgot the important thing and made me curious, Keila.” Andra said in a regretful tone because she was so curious about the story.
“I did forget my conversation with the boy, but I remembered something important. Thanks to that child, I who had been unable to accept my father's death was finally able to accept my father's death with a spacious heart. I don't know what I said to the boy and I don't know what the boy told me, but obviously that day we both had a bad day, got our spirits back.” Keila exhaled a long sigh of relief. “I wonder how the kid is doing now? But. . maybe even if we meet again, I won't recognize him. Even today, I don't remember his face in my memory.”
After her memories finished rolling back her memories, Keila then looked at Liam and said in her weak voice. “I'm really stupid, Liam. That day, I came to the bridge with Andra and told of my meeting with the boy in thick glasses. I told Andra I wanted to see the boy again and see his present life, but when the boy stood before me with the same appearance, I didn't recognize him at all. I'm really stupid.”
“Don't feel guilty, Miss Keila. The meeting was so long ago, so it was no surprise that Miss Keila forgot about the incident.” Liam said as he gave Keila a warm smile to comfort Keila. “When I first met with the Director, I was just a poor kid who happened to get a scholarship to study abroad. Due to the fact that I was an underprivileged child, some of the children then made me a target for their bully. The director then helped me and defended me from those kids. That day, I asked the Director why he, who is the son of a wealthy family, wanted to help me. Then the Director gave me the answer, that in the past there was a girl who helped him. Thanks to the help provided by the girl, the Director then helped me in return for the actions of the girl.”
Hearing Liam's story, Keila then vaguely recalled his words to the bespectacled boy she had met seven years ago.
“How should I repay a good deed, Brother?”
Keila smilingly looked at the boy in thick glasses before her. “Quite you live well and later if you see someone who has the same fate as you, it would be nice if you did the same as I did to you. I think that's enough reply.”
“Andra still remembers my words. I really didn't expect.” Keila's tears trickled unnoticed as she recalled her old memories of being with the bespectacled boy she met seven years ago. “Then what happened after that, Liam?”
“Our relationship is becoming close. From then on, I followed the Director and worked for him. After returning to the country, several times the Director will take his time and visit the bridge in hopes of being reunited with his rescuers. Seeing the Director's unusual actions, I then ventured to ask the Director about the reason for always visiting the bridge. The director then showed me this photo and told me about his meeting with Miss.” Liam then sighed for a moment before continuing his long enough story to Keila. “After several visits to the bridge and not finding the figure he was looking for, the Director had felt desperate. Then when the Director almost gave up, the Director who initially worked at the headquarters then moved to this branch of the city and met the figure he had always sought. It happened about two years ago.”
