30 DAYS WITH U

30 DAYS WITH U
13. "LOVER" WHO LIVES NEXT DOOR TO 8

Four days passed and Keila did not receive a message from Andra saying she wanted to have lunch with her homemade cooking. Thanks to that, for four days Keila could feel the name of the streets.

After four days of choosing to spend her time outside, Keila now spends her fifth day in her apartment. It rained heavily since morning and Keila was forced to spend her time in her apartment. After steaming bread with butter, sugar and chocolate, Keila then sat on the veranda of her apartment listening to a song playing from her phone. With both ears clogged by her earphones, Keila looked at the raindrops coming down singing loudly. When tired of seeing the rain fall, Keila will read the books she just bought although still by continuing to sing with her false tone. Keila continued to sing loudly as if no one would hear her.

There are so many things I want to tell you.

I wrote them one by one and it became as much as the lyrics of the song.

With a yearning that hurts more than a breakup.

A song I write easily while thinking of you.(1)

(1) The lyrics are a translation of A Song Written Easily by ONEUS

Keila, who usually listens to blackbeans' songs, then changes the songs in her playlist because the lyrics of the song feel like they match the rain that is falling at this time as well as the book she is reading at this time.

Buk.

Something fell right over Keila's face and made Keila's gaze momentarily turn pitch-black. Keila grabbed something that fell right on top of that face and felt the distinctive fragrant aroma of that thing. Keila stared at the thing intently. This jacket?

“Your voice really. .”

Keila looked to her left side and found Andra standing on the porch of her apartment with a small smile on her face towards Keila. Keila quickly removed one of her earphones in her left ear to hear Andra's words.

That smile this time I didn't see it wrong. Andra clearly smiled looking at me. But, why? Why is he smiling at me? What in his eyes, I was the most interesting joke? Keila looked sharply at Andra and was about to throw Andra's jacket that had landed on her face. “Why throw your jacket in my face? I'm not a washing machine that accepts dirty clothes.”

“Use it to cover your body!” Andra spoke first and stopped Keila's intention to throw Andra's jacket. “You sit on the porch in such thin clothes, you're not worried about your body? What if you get sick later?”

Keila wore Andra's jacket to cover her body. “Stop worrying about me overdoing it so. I told you my body is stronger than most other women. And again I am sitting here enjoying the view of the rain falling. The rain that falls is a blessing, so what I am doing right now just think is being grateful for the blessing given by God.”

“Mensyukuri blessings??” Andra glanced sharply at Keila and then leaned against the wall divider between her porch and Keila's apartment veranda. “With your voice like that?”

“You heard it??” ask Keila to panic.

Andra nodded her head. “How can I not hear if you sing with the equivalent volume of speaker volume in a karaoke place?”

“Ah, sorry. I'm sorry, your ears must have hurt to hear it.” Keila lowered her head in embarrassment, looking towards the rain that was falling. “I thought you were busy with your work and not in your apartment. Therefore, I sang quite loudly.”

“No,” replied Andra. “Your voice doesn't hurt my ears, it's just that you sing too loud.”

Keila looked towards Andra with narrowed eyes. Doesn't that mean the same thing? It means the same if my voice is not pleasant to hear. Why not be honest? I won't be angry anyway, because the truth is that my voice is false from birth. Keila spoke in her own mind.

“I-that's what?”

Keila looked at Andra's eyes staring at her plate on Keila's left side, which contained the steamed bread she had made.

“This?” Keila pointed towards the plate that contained her steamed bun.

“Ya, the.”

“Sweet bread with butter, sugar and chocolate stuffing.” Keila looked towards Andra and found the look in Andra's eyes that could not escape the steamed bread. A small smile appeared on Keila's lips when she knew the intent of Andra's eye glare. “You want?”

“Ya.” Andra answered quickly.

“But.” Andra answered while receiving Keila's plate and began to devour one pair of steamed buns.

“You can spend it if you like.” Keila smiled seeing Andra devouring one pair of steamed buns in just two bites. “Why have you come home? It was still daytime and it was raining heavily again. Why not just wait where you work instead of saying you are busy until today?”

Andra devoured the steamed buns of the two while looking at Keila with a look of wonder. After swallowing the steamed bread in his mouth, Andra then replied to Keila's question with another question. “How many questions did you ask?”

“I'm just surprised to see you here after four and a half days of not seeing you,"

Keila's second steamed bun, was finished being devoured by Andra. “I miss you. So I finished all my work quickly and since I couldn't wait any longer, I broke through this rain to meet you soon.”

“. .” Keila froze hearing Andra's words to her question. For a moment, Keila could only remain silent as she turned her gaze away from Andra who started devouring the third steamed bun.

“You didn't miss me?” Andra asked Keila who was frozen and did not respond to her words.

Keila inhaled a strong breath before exhaling it vigorously. After doing that, Keila who had shifted her eyes from Andra again looked towards Andra. “You're playing me again, Andra. I didn't miss you. Instead I feel happy to have a lot of free time during these few days.”

Keila thought that it would make Andra look at her with an annoyed look or a look of disbelief. But Keila's guess was wrong. Andra remained calm as usual as if Keila's words meant nothing to her.

“If you still haven't missed me, then my efforts to make my lover miss me still seem to be lacking.”

Keila's eyes were again rounded when she heard the word “lover” came out of Andra's mouth with her calm face.

“You are!! I told you to stop thinking of me as a fortune-“

Andra suddenly thrust an empty plate towards Keila and made Keila stop her regretful speech to Andra. “It. Thank you very much.”

“Sama-sama. How's it feel?” Keila's curiosity made him forget that Keila had been upset with Andra for a moment.

Andra managed to distract Keila who was upset because of her words. “Enak. I didn't expect eating steamed bread in the rain to taste really good. Next time you have to make it again for me, especially when it rains.”

Keila again threw a sharp glare towards Andra. “Mau.”

Keila made her cheeks slightly bulging because of her sense of regret to Andra which she could not vent to Andra.

The rain that had fallen down slowly began to stop. The sky that was once dark slowly changed color with white. The sunlight that had been held back by the darkness of the overcast sky was now slowly moving and starting to shine on the earth again. Soon a combination of seven colors formed in the sky and made Keila and Andra who saw him smile together.

“Rarely once can I see a rainbow,” Keila said looking at the rainbow. “Rain this time is truly a blessing.”

“Is that so?” Andra replied to Keila.

Keila looked at Andra with a smile on her lips. “Yes. We're lucky to see a rainbow after it rains. Because rainbows are not always there when the rain ends.”

Andra shook her head looking at Keila. “No to me.”

“Oh to you, the rainbow is something ordinary and uninteresting, is that it?"

“That's not what I mean." Andra nodded with a smile on her lips looking towards Keila. "Because every day I have seen a rainbow, so the rainbow that appears this time does not look attractive in my eyes.”

“What do you mean?” Keila was confused by Andra's reply. "Is there a rainbow coming up every day? Didn't you see wrong?"

"Some, you.” Andra smilingly looked at Keila who was looking at her with a confused look. “For me, you are the rainbow that gives color to my life. You're the rainbow I see every day and I hope to keep seeing you for the rest of my life."

“. . .”

Once again, Keila froze and could not say anything back to Andra. Keila might not have noticed it but something in her heart was now beginning to move.

Moving because Andra.
