"Yes, Jian. We meet again."

I was stunned for a moment. That heavy voice intimidated me. His figure emerged from within the dark shadow that was towering not far from where I was standing.

"You, you're dead." I raised my magic wand, looked at him sharply, not letting him attack me.

"So far, so tired of listening to you arguing with each other. Until I finally have the right time to bring myself up again." Rux stepped his foot towards me, those footsteps spreading a dark aura everywhere. So horrible. "Listen, Jian. I don't die so easily. I am a soul who serves in the Soul Bottle of Dixia Academy. Aju can't be killed easily."

"Don't come any closer! Or I'll kill you!" I exclaimed while stepping back. This much power, can I fight it alone?

Rux laughed, his laughter echoing, "You're going to kill me? You don't even know if you can survive or not. Remember, Jian. You're alone. Rui is already my hostage, and Neo is helpless because his body is hypocritical. It's just you."

I swallowed spit. He's right, I'm alone. "But even on my own, I should still kill you, Rux. I will protect my friends even if I have to take my own life!"

The splash!

I gasped, Ruu standing right in front of me. Her cold fingers touched my chin, I was forced to look up at her pale face.

"I don't want to find trouble with you, Miss. It is better to give the two heirlooms, you must save energy to return to the Cursed Village. That friend of yours, might not be helped if you don't take him to see the Fairy Guard." Ruu smiled obliquely.

I shook my head, "You're lying!"

"Do I look like I'm lying?" Now Ruu's face is only half a inch from my face. His breath was so cold, his eyes were sharp, his voice was creepy. This is not the same Rux as when we just got to know him at Dixia Academy.

"Give me that heirloom, Jian!" Rux flicked his left hand, Rui and his magical beast appeared, they were locked inside a circle of ice-covered barrier surrounded by black energy.

"Let them go!" I called out roaringly, throwing my power towards the barrier, trying to destroy it, but it was in vain.

"If you give me an heirloom, maybe I'll reconsider whether to kill it or let it live," Rux smiled, his smile creepy even though he tried to smile as graciously as possible.

I laughed instead, making Rux smile gagged, "Why are you laughing, crazy!" Rux pushed his left hand, the circle of barrier rolled quickly until it hit the stone wall.

Rui screamed in pain, but I couldn't do anything to save her. I looked back, Neo looks pale from enduring the pain for too long.

"Listen to me, Ruu. Even if I give you this inheritance, you won't be able to use it either."

Ruu shouted loudly, her hands cast black magic, thrown in any direction, half the wall collapsed, creating a great vibe.

I must endure my fear, "You have no friends. You have no sincere heart. You can only take from others who have got it through a life-and-death fight. You think you can easily get it from us? I won't!" I raised my magic wand, jumped into the air, then smashed it down.

Snow was scattering, creating a great storm that rolled up whatever it passed by. I secured Neo from getting into this one-on-one fight.

I made spears from the wind I controlled. The millions of pointed spears shot towards Rux. He's been squirming around here. Dodging the spears that shot towards him, leaving no safe space, Rux made a huge barrier around his body.

The barrier turned into an extremely powerful black magic. Rux pointed his hand forward. The black magic circle made the entire cave invisible. I slid down, the attack escaped. It left behind a wave of black energy that spread throughout the cave.

I coughed, wiping the tip of my lips. My breaths roaring. My legs were already trembling before he even started the real attack.

I looked back, Neo sat leaning against the cave wall, helpless. I looked at Rui and her dog lying unconscious inside the black barrier.

"Give me his naivety, Jian. Your friend, I assure you he will not die in my hands," Rux reached out his right hand while showing off a terrible smile.

I shake my head, I won't give up anything that happens.

"Don't make things difficult, Jian!" Rux shouted in annoyance, his body floating, filled with flashes of dark energy, his entire body as if blackened, revealing only his bright yellow eyeballs.

I held my breath, this much strength, I would not be able to endure it alone. He can't even be harmed by this mid-level magic. My card is still silver, it will be useless no matter how I try.

HYA!!

I can only make the barrier as strong as possible, hoping that my barrier does not break easily.

Brak!

My barrier remained smashed to pieces, the black energy was about to hit my body, I crossed both my arms, creating a new barrier.

Sroooms!

I didn't have time to create a new barrier. But an ice attack arrived in front of me right before dark energy hit my body.

Neo's right hand held an ice sword that emitted a cold smoke. His face was pale, his body was soaked in sweat, Neo dashingly protected me from the attacks of Rux's black energy.

"Listen Rux. You won't survive if I attack you for the next hour. This forbidden magic of yours, has already destroyed all the organs in your body. You are still alive because you rely on the soul bottle belonging to Dixia Academy. You benefited from having been a ghost in Dixia Academy for thousands of years. But that bottle of soul won't even help much. Your body will still be destroyed once you use that forbidden magic, Rux. So there's no point in you robbing this heirloom from us. It won't be of any use to you." Neo walked over.

He held my left hand gently, moving the two heirlooms into my hand. I shook my head, "You can't fight, Neo."

Neo smiled broadly, "I don't want to fight, Jian. I want to save Rui. Take care of this thing."

"No, Neo. No!" I immediately caught his right hand. Neo brushed me off, then jumped into the air, throwing his sword towards the black barrier that locked Rui and his dog away.

As soon as the sword struck, Neo pointed two fingers at his sword, mentioning a spell. The barrier simply shattered, pulling the bodies of Rui and her dog before Ruu realized it.

I caught Rui's body, "Rui, it's me!" I shook her cheeks, Rui did not react. I'm afraid he'll get exposed to black poison again.

I stared ahead, Neo still standing in his position, facing off against Ruu. I screamed to tell him to back off. He can't fight, why is he so stubborn?

"Just a moment, Jian. I feel unsatisfied that I haven't hit her face this strong-ass." Neo waved his hand. He fused his hands together, the ice sword floating in front of him. Neo's body glowed, in contrast to the Rux that was enveloped in black smoke.

"One formation only, if you can't avoid it, you'll lose one more life, Rux. If you manage to avoid it, then I will die in your hands. Wouldn't that be so, if one were to use the Black Energy Withering Spell?"

I looked at Neo in disbelief. What'd he say? Black Energy Vanishing Spell? Where did he learn it? And why would he want to use that spell? Good if Rux can't avoid it. But Rux is too tough for Neo opponents. What if Rux can avoid it?

"Stop your bullshit, Neo! Quick retreat! He's not an opponent for you!" I exclaimed, flicked my hand, sent Piu Piu to stop him. My movements were limited because my left hand held two heirlooms that were coming together. Also my legs that are the focus of Rui lie down.

Boom!

Looks like Neo has already put a seal between himself and Ruu. Piu Piu could not enter the seal, thumping down.

The splash!

Neo's body disappeared, then appeared right in front of Rux. His right hand moved to hit Rux's forehead, then his left hand hit his right chest. Neo turned back, hitting a few specific points on Rux's back. Then the ice sword that was originally floating in place, had now moved in Neo's grasp.

Neo scratched his own palm, blood spurting. Fulfill that half-ball shaped seal. Makes it glow red.

Neo spread his hands, his mouth calling for something, I couldn't hear him. What kind of formation was he actually doing?

Rux looked rebellious, but the black light on his body faded as Neo's blood spread throughout the barrier.

Brak!

However the seal was shattered before Neo's blood completely filled the half-ball barrier. Neo was thrown far away, his sword stuck in the snow.

Ruu fell on the spot, she spewed blood. Trying to stay standing.

Neo darted towards me. His bloodied hand was holding two heirlooms in my hand.

Neo smiled, "The ritual is going well." He muttered as he looked at me with a face full of excitement.

The light that enveloped these two heirloom objects disappeared after creating a dark portal.

"Jian, it's a portal to the cave boy where the Magic Key is stored. You bring this treasure in with you. Make sure you get out before the sand runs out. Rui and I will take care of Rux here. We'll wait for you to come out, Jian. Come inside!" Neo exclaimed, he shook his hand. The previously destroyed red seal formed a very long chain rope, wrapped around the body of Rux so that he could not move anymore.

"I'm not going alone, Neo. You should go with me too. How about if—"

"There's no time, Jian. I'll take care of Rux here. Rui is still fainting. I'll take him to meet Zhi and Zhu later."

I held her hand tightly, ”We must not part, we must stay together," I shook my head firmly.

"Look, Jian. The chain would be destroyed in a matter of seconds. If you don't leave now, I won't be able to hold it." Neo held onto both of my shoulders, "Go, Jian. I'll be fine, Rui will be fine too. What you need to worry about is not us. But what if we won't be able to go home again? Once this portal is gone, there will be no second chance!"

I shook my head, "Neo!"

"I'm sorry, Jian." Neo smile. He pushed my body into the portal that was about to shrink. I heard Rux's rampaging screams. The chain must have been destroyed. And Neo immediately fought with him again.

Why has the situation changed so quickly?
