Journey In A Fantasy World

Journey In A Fantasy World
Foxes

The sun had already gone up a notch, they had already stopped three times since flying from Hudie Academy. Now, below there is only a vast expanse of forest with tenuous leaves, some only remaining branches of the trunk.

"You think we should go down now?" Rui asked Neo.

"According to this map, we should be right on top of that Forest of Curious Spirits," Neo examined under aana closely.

"Is there a beast down there?" Rui asked again, her face looking anxious.

Neo laughed, "Which forest does not have any wild beasts, Rui?" Neo flicked his hand slightly, Pru moved slowly and landed on the ground.

Neo looked around, it looked like it wasn't a forest in general. This forest is arid, the land is golden red, the trees are tight but almost all trees are leafless.

"Is this really a forest? Why is it more like a desert?" Neo wondered, "But this forest looks exactly like it's on a map." Neo showed the map to Jian and Rui.

"Are you sure this is accurate?" Jian snatched the map from Neo.

"Of course, this map was made by Queen Hudie specifically for me."

Jian snorted, "Of course. You are the Chosen Single Disciple."

Neo exhaled, "If it wasn't for this trip, I wouldn't be a single disciple, Jian. I'd rather go to school with you guys. But I have promised to protect you at all costs, so this is my first attempt so that I can protect you well" Neo smiled.

Honestly speaking, Jian actually felt guilty as well as touched by what Neo did for him and Rui. But she was a woman who placed more prestige than a precious confession, "We didn't say we wanted to be protected by you," Jian flicked his hand, Jilly disappearing as if swallowed by the wind.

Rui nudged his arm, "Here you go, Jian. Admit you appreciate Neo's efforts. You care about him, too, right?"

Jian did not respond. He chose to look around at what was in this arid forest. As far as he could see, there was nothing to eat. There may not be any animals living in this place.

"Hey, this is too empty to be called a forest. There are no living plants, are there any other living things here? Like insects?" Neo touched one of the tree trunks.

"Perhaps because the name of this forest is the Forest of Curious Spirits, Neo. So the place is like hell?" Rui replied origin.

Neo poked his head, "Where is it? You think it's just hell where the dead are?"

"But this place does not deserve to be called heaven ...,"

"Are you really stupid or pretend you don't understand, Rui? It's definitely not heaven. It's even clearer that this isn't hell." Neo is getting annoyed because Rui often says things that are not clear.

"We'll rest first. It was time to bring out some food," Jian chose to sit under one of the trees.

Neo snorted, "Freely sitting under the tree, the sun still makes us hot," he made a roll of white clouds over them sitting, the clouds made them not feel hot anymore.

"Why didn't you just do that?" Jian looked at him lazily.

"Don't we fly over the clouds?" Neo raised next to an eyebrow, chuckling.

They took out the stuff they brought. Almost all the food they bring is dry food, the reason is to last longer.

"Take out the water tube, Neo," Jian reached out, Neo took out his water tube.

About fifteen minutes they were sitting leisurely while chewing food, suddenly Neo felt the ground they were on suddenly tremble. Neo immediately stood up, saying that there was a sudden earthquake.

"It can't be an earthquake, Neo. You said this place wasn't on earth," Rui confirmed Neo's words while hugging his own body.

Neo chuckled, "What a matter of magnitude is an earthquake or a Neptune earthquake! This is an earthquake!" Neo hugged the tree trunk tightly.

"I don't think this is an earthquake," Jian narrowed his eyes, staring into the distance.

"What's? You're telling me this is a Neptune earthquake?" Neo glared in annoyance.

"No, Neo. I'm not kidding, this isn't an earthquake, look!" Jian pointed forward.

Rui opened her mouth wide, "That's, i-that's what?" mumbling slowly.

"That desert fox?" Neo squinted his eyes.

After a moment of dumbstruck, Neo noticed that hundreds of desert foxes were running towards them, "Run, guys!" Neo first ran fast, Jian and Rui soon followed.

"Hey, do you think it makes sense that foxes live in large groups?!" Neo exclaimed as he continued running, occasionally looking back.

"I don't know, Neo! But the fox prefers to be with his little family!" Rui answered Neo's question.

"Hey, you think foxes are like us? Do they have a small family?!" Jian.

"Of course, Jian! The fox I know only married once and had children only from the female he married!" Neo answered again.

"Maybe it's a wolf?" Rui looked back.

"Hey! Take out your magic wand! They're running faster than us!" Neo immediately jumped into the air, Pru quickly grabbed him.

Jian followed, Jilly immediately flew very high. Higher than Pru. But down there, Rui is in trouble. The magic wand won't come out.

While the foxes were only a dozen meters away from the position Rui stood. Rui keeps trying to get Riu out, but Riu still doesn't want to come out.

"Hurry, Rui!" Neo exclaimed from up there.

"My wand won't come out, guys!"

"Don't panic, Rui! You need to concentrate!" Jian exclaimed.

But Rui still can't get Riu out. Neo decides to drop his body down. His hand snatched Rui's hand, Pru prepared to take his master back to flight.

But Neo and Rui's bodies suddenly fell down when one of the big foxes slammed their feet. Pru flew without bringing anyone.

"Rui! Neo!" Jian exclaimed restrained from above. He saw hundreds of large foxes bulging his friends' bodies to nothing. Several trees were uprooted because of the hundreds of foxes, he could not see where Rui and Neo were.

Jian clenched his jaws, "Hold on, guys!" he performed a sharp maneuver, Jilly swooped down quickly, Jian applied a magic spell that made his body feel light like the wind. With this spell, to him, breaking through the herd of running foxes was no big deal.

Jian circled around a few times amidst the hundreds of foxes that were running, but had yet to find the bodies of Rui and Neo.

Jian's concentration broke out in a frantic search for his two friends, his magic spell became lost, Jian slammed to and fro and ended up falling on the ground, his body kicked up to several meters.

But fortunately, he is still able to drag Jilly to bring her back to flight. Jian shouted loudly, Jilly approached him. But the magic wand did not come alone.

As if knowing his master was frantically looking for two of his comrades, Jilly returned with Pru who was now just a long stick without magic energy. Perhaps because Neo is already injured, Pru has no one to control him.

"Jilly, take me to where you found Pru!" Jian immediately stood up, leaping onto his magic wand, he held Pru tightly, again breaking through these hundreds of constantly running foxes.

Jian smiled in satisfaction, he had already found Rui!

Seeing Rui in a bad condition, Jian immediately took him out of the fox herd, Rui was unconscious, his body dirty and many had scratched wounds.

"Jilly, stay here and take care of Rui, okay? I'm going back there to find Neo."

Jian relied on his magic ability in controlling the wind to fly and search for Neo. With that huge wind scroll, Jian flew like a powerful windblower.

"I can't find Neo just like this!" Jian muttered softly.

He saw this herd of foxes had no leader, and were the same size, neither small, nor too big.

"This is definitely not an ordinary fox herd," Jian paid better attention to the bottom, "Neo said foxes do not live in large groups. So this must not be an ordinary fox."

Jian was speechless in the air, he lowered his head, noticing the necklace around his neck flickering a faint light. She wondered what happened to this necklace Agg gave her.

Upon seeing the necklace, Jian realized, looking back at the fox herd after staring at the necklace felt different from before.

One fox in the middle of the herd looks more real than the other foxes. Those other foxes, now in his eyes were just a bunch of magic energy spreading out.

"Is this just an illusion?" Jian muttered.

"But the pain is too real, it's not an illusion."

Jian raised his hand, a huge energy rippling at the tip of his index and middle fingers. Jian pointed it at the fox in the middle.

As the other hundreds of foxes simply disappeared, Jian saw Neo's body slammed one last time. Jian was sure that the body had been slammed to and fro as long as it was trapped inside this herd of fake foxes.

Jian wanted to immediately rush to snatch the body of Neo who was lying helplessly.

But the remaining fox did not remain silent. The fox attacked Jian mercilessly, attacking and showing its sharp claws. Wounded Jian's neck.

Jian clashed with the fox for more than thirty minutes. Jian had not found a way to get rid of him.

Jian was already exhausted, once in a while he looked towards his friends who were still fainting, he hoped they would wake up and start helping him get rid of this thick fox.

"You've crossed the line, fox! But I don't want to kill you, can you just go?" Jian was completely dispirited as his attacks had always failed and were successfully subdued. Jian clenched his jaws, "I am, already, angry!" Jian raised both of his hands up, "Accept your punishment, it has already injured my friends!" Jian flicked his hand down. The fox was thrown dozens of meters away. Then don't move anymore.

Jian dropped his body on the ground. As soon as his cheeks clung, Jian felt the stinging heat of this golden red sand.

"I don't feel like I've been fighting for so long in this super-hot weather. I, can't stand anymore."
