The ground we were on suddenly shook violently, like there was a big earthquake that struck this labyrinth.
"Is this vibration a passing red dot?" Rui asked in fear.
Neo shrugged, "Maybe yes, may not, Rui. It could be a labyrinth earthquake, the vibration is only a small vibration in a few plots."
I snorted, clearly he was just making up an answer, is there a labyrinth earthquake?
"Eh, Neo. What beast is out there?" I nudged his arm while whispering.
"I don't know either, so, let's take a peek," Neo poked his head out.
Rui and I looked up. A red dot will soon emerge from the corner in front of us. And we were really surprised because the red dot was not heading our way before.
But heading towards us!
The three of us immediately hid in the corner of the plot, the tremors became more noticeable as the red dot approached us.
I held my breath, if he saw three humans in this corner of the dead end plot, I don't know if we could really survive from here or not.
"Whoahh!" Neo exclaimed in amazement.
I closed his mouth, "We're in hiding. How could you possibly cry like that? What if the red dot hears it?" I glared at the protests.
Neo put my hand out of his mouth, "Just calm down, Jian. The wolf is gone!" Neo casually stepped out of our hiding place.
"Hey!" i shouted.
"Hurry, Jian! We must get on the right path! The wolf would sooner or later turn around again. The road there is dead end!" Neo shouted back at us.
Rui pulled my arm running and immediately caught up with Neo, "He's right, we'd better get going, Jian."
We caught up with Neo, and sure enough, the wolf came back again in just a few seconds. I quickly sped up my run, the three of us turned, the wolf ran straight, seemingly completely unaware of us.
I exhaled a sigh of relief. Sitting on the snow, then lying down while breathing. Up there it was dark, there was a thin glowing layer on top of this labyrinth.
"Are we safe?" Rui looked again, the wolf was already far away.
Silent moment.
"Hoaayemm!" Neo's yawning.
Rui and I looked at him in wonder, was he really sleepy?
"I thought it was eight o'clock in the night, didn't it?" Rui nudged my arm, I shrugged.
"We continue on our journey. To avoid getting too tired, we just go up the stick," Neo stood on top of his stick and started flying.
Rui and I looked at each other, "Then we don't have to be tired of running away from the bear and the wolf," I grumbled.
Neo laughed, "You guys are too stupid, opinionless, always depending on my life" he said.
Me and Rui caught up with him without saying anything. Although the joke always went past, what Neo said was indeed the right thing, we were stupid and could only rely on Neo in any case.
Limits.
We decided to take a break after five hours of walking. I reminded Neo of his medicinal herbs again, he always forgot about them every day.
This time I was on guard early. To drive away the boredom, I decided to study this map of the labyrinth. From above, the paths of this labyrinth look very complicated.
Many paths led to a dead end, and red dots scattered in all directions. I borrowed Neo's ballpoint pen from his little pocket.
I marked the correct path, and the hiding places of the red dot. After being noticed, more points are not moving than are moving.
Could it be that the one that did not move was a trap? Or just a small obstacle? And something else these moving red dots?
I really couldn't think calmly as long as there were still a lot of red dots around us. Whether it was far or near, everything remained terrifying.
I traced the path to the middle of the labyrinth using Neo's ballpoint pen. I also calculated the number of red dots we would pass along the way, there were about five more red dots. The rest were on different paths, and were quite far from our path.
Two dots are moving points, I predict one of these moving points will arrive at our place tomorrow morning. I would wake them up before the red dot arrived, and move after he passed us.
After tomorrow morning, there were only four red dots left in our path. One remaining moving point is at the end of the journey, maybe we just met him after passing two unmoving red dots.
I took a deep breath, our journey was complicated. I thought about how we got out of this labyrinth after successfully obtaining the Candle of Immortality?
Or a more appropriate question, can we get out of here? Finding a way out sounds really hard.
Limits.
Rui woke me up at six in the morning— according to Rui it was six in the morning. Neo yawned wide, downed water, I reminded him not to drink too much, we had to save our supplies.
"By the way, there will be a red dot passing through this place, the distance is about ...," I opened the map that last night I scribbled, "About ten minutes maybe."
Neo snorted, "Why didn't you say that earlier?" Neo glared irritatedly, he felt hungry, but woke up instantly reminded of the red dot moving towards us. Neo looks really upset.
"Gather your life first, Neo. You should know that we're in a safe place. Just need to wait for something to pass us, after that we just continue the journey again," I gave him a slice of fresh bread, Neo took it and immediately ate it up.
"You doodled our map, Jian?" Neo stared at the map, there was a ballpoint line towards the midpoint of this labyrinth. It was me who made it last night.
I nodded, "That makes our journey easier, Neo. So we don't have to think and open the map again every time we meet the intersection, just follow that line," I also explained about the five red dots that we will pass. One of them is heading towards us.
"Wouldn't he know where we are, Jian?" Rui elbowed my arm.
I shrugged, "But most likely, we won't get caught, Rui. You take it easy," I smiled at her.
"Look, the red dot is about to pass!" Neo pointed to the map. Rui and I turned their heads, the red dot was approaching, the remaining two corners to pass our path.
The three of us peered back from behind this gigantic ice wall. It was so fast, we couldn't see it, just the smoke and the strong wind it was carrying.
"Is that an animal?" Rui looked at me with round eyes.
"What animal runs so fast?" I looked at the steaming smoke that was getting away from it.
"Maybe reindeer" Neo said, writing in his little book.
"Are the wildebeest able to run that fast?" Rui looked in disbelief.
"If you can't run fast, why would Santa Claus pick a deer to deliver him to give the kids Christmas presents?" Neo continues to provide answers with his strange puzzles despite his busy hand at writing.
Rui looked at me, "Isn't Santa's reindeer flying, huh?"
Neo immediately fell silent, "I don't celebrate Christmas, so I don't know if deer can fly," Neo replied lazily, "In the real world anyway, deer do run fast, right?"
I nodded, "Forget it, let's move immediately. In front of there, there was one red dot that did not move. We have to get ready, maybe this one really has to fight."
We flew for about two hours, one more bend was that red dot. Because facing head-on, we get ready to attack if we have to attack.
After turning, we pegged for a moment. It turned out that the red dot in front of us was a large pool that did not look deep. Maybe it's deeper than our height.
"What obstacle is this? Just a small pool? Huh! Anyone can get through it, you fool!" Neo stood up again on top of his staff, darting leisurely over the pond with a length of about ten meters.
The byurr!!
Something suddenly came out of the water and grabbed Neo's body. I exclaimed in shock, moving reflexes using my magic to pull Neo back.
Our map fell into the water, Neo's wand almost fell down, but Neo caught it before he fell to the ground beside me.
Yep. Neo didn't get to catch our map. We lost the map. The map is gone. And we still need it very much.
We were petrified, our bodies unable to move, as if all our hopes had vanished with the map.
Hundreds of crocodiles suddenly appeared from the pond. It was impossible to get the map back.
