“YO, YOU GUYS ARE UP?”
Addison blinked his eyes when he heard someone's voice. He tried to look around, but a bright light pierced his retina. For a while, he only squinted until he could adjust the intensity of the light. Meanwhile, the heat of the sun and the ripples of water that were crashing down the edge of the boat filled his audience.
After his eyes could adjust to the light, Addison saw a stretch of white sea. It was very white and it felt like it was piercing the eyes. There is no land at all. All around is a sea of water.
“Come on young. Time to travel. Don't laze. Our journey is very long.” Mr's Voice. Navarro made Habibie who was next to Addison also react.
“Wah, where are we now? The sea is so shiny. Very white and looks abnormal,” Habibie said as he advanced the body to the edge of the boat. The dragon on his back nodded as if asking.
“We are in the White Sea. One of the high seas far from land. This is the closest portal to Mirror Island.” Mr. Navarro sat at the front of the boat, wearing a headgear and holding a clover umbrella. Her hair that fell forward and passed through the headscarf danced in the wind.
“You've been waiting for us for a long time, Sir?” Thann also asked.
“For long enough until my gums are so hot that I sit here,” replied Mr. The Navarro they felt was just a joke. The man did not sweat in the slightest, but he wore a covered, thick, and head covering. “We must not waste time, while continuing the journey, Young Man.”
“Good, sir,” replied Addison while looking to tidy up her slightly disheveled clothes. Though concerned very much with the appearance in the middle of the open sea on a boat that contains all men.
“So now how, Sir?” habibie asked still looking around suspiciously.
Mr. Navarro took a pink portable fan still with a cat lying on the bottom of the boat, then turned it on. The wind started to blow from that little fan. “There is also a use of this man-made, although the magic energy is quickly depleted. Better our artificial magicnology by absorbing magic energy,” said Mr. Navarro ignored Habibie's question.
“Sir, so how about continuing this mission?” Thann repeated Habibie's question very patiently. The man started loosening the buttons of his mission uniform. It doesn't feel aesthetic that angels sweat.
The headmaster suddenly smiled. “You still hold the fan that Mevel gave you earlier, right?”
Thann nodded with a confused face.
“Well, it's time you paddle with that. You serve as a rower until we get to our destination and Habibie as navigator.” Mr. Navarro looked at Thann and Habibie alternately to divide their duties.
Habibie looked at Addison. “How about it, Sir?” said Habibie while pointing at the pale-skinned man who was busy unpacking his bag looking for Tristian's portable fan that he had secretly borrowed.
“Dead me! The Tritstian fan seemed to have fallen when it passed through the portal,” Addison said as he clapped his eel in panic.
“There is a special task for him,” reply Mr. Navarro with a bright smile. “Come on young, get excited! Time to continue the journey. Habibie, it's time to use your talent. The meteor fragment gives off radiation, you should be able to detect and track its presence. I've trained you earnestly on that. Don't disappoint me.” Suddenly Mr. Navarro smiled very gently—angker.
The three teenagers who saw that smile immediately shuddered. They already knew the meaning of that smile. Fuck me if I can't detect the damn meteor! curse Habibie inwardly while imagining the intent behind the principal's smile.
Thann faced back and began to paddle with both hands using a fan with a picture of a cat that he hated every second. Habibie sat in the middle of the boat concentrating on his ability to track the existence of the alien. So far, he could feel his existence even though it was not so obvious. It was like reading an empty map. While Addison was wearing a beach hat that he had borrowed secretly in Elleanor's room sitting next to the headmaster, his left hand was holding a clover umbrella and his right hand was holding a portable fan. Addison seems to play the role of the school principal lackey to paddle and fan.
For almost an hour, they continued to split the white sea with the small boat which they later realized was also a picture of a cat. Occasionally turn according to Habibie's direction. Sometimes the headmaster asks to stop suddenly. When asked, he was just nauseous and felt weird about not being able to ride a boat at high speed for long.
Meanwhile, getting closer to Mirror Island, Addison felt a different feeling. He didn't know what he was going to find there. Could there be a child like her who was also locked up on that mirror island? The principal said, Mirror Island is indeed the residence of several demigods. Although not all Mirror Island is occupied.
While looking at the white, bubbly sea, Addison recalled how the lonely lived alone on Mirror Island drifting over the high seas. There was no one he had met because Mirror Island could not be found intentionally.
It's the only memory of his father until now that Addison remembers. As for his mother, he had no memory at all. Addison felt lucky and grateful when the principal took her off the island. Although the headmaster is sometimes strange, creepy, and a bit stingy to provide treatment costs, he already considers the principal as his parents and considers Mevel as his sister. Maybe Mevel thinks Mr. Navarro his parents, Addison said in his heart.
“Addison, why are you daydreaming? The fan you were holding almost popped my eyes!”
“Ma-sorry, sir, I did not accidentally,” Addison replied nervously, leaving Habibie wide-eyed and breaking her constrictions. Thann pretended not to hear, he still could not accept the fact of getting the role of a manual laborer aka a rowing man. It could be that the headmaster sent angels and nobles to be rowers. However, he also did not want to get the role of Addison who became a lackey.
“Addison, get Madam Polina's prepared water in my bag. He had prepared an antimicrobial potion, but it did not seem to work at all.”
Addison rushed to fetch the odd pumpkin-shaped bottle of drink with the horrible bottles. Just looking at the bottle made you nauseous. “This one, sir? The bottle looks suspicious?” addison asked to make sure he wasn't mistaken and flayed the principal alive.
The headmaster nodded, then picked up the proffered bottle, and swigged the drink greedily.
“One song, there is a therapeutic scent presker that I bought at the human minimarket. Sort it on my forehead. My banging seems to be getting worse. I don't know what Madam Polina put in that bottle.” The headmaster's face that had not sweated in the slightest now even looked clear dots.
“Good, Sir. Anything else?” Addison is still busy unpacking the equipment the principal brought in which turns out to be more than he was carrying.
“No.” Mr. Navarro. He opened his eyes and looked at Habibie. “Still far?” ask the headmaster like a chatty old man.
“I can already feel the radiation effect more clearly. Not far away, sir. Maybe a few more miles,” replied Habibie. The secretary looks like an old man. How old is he, huh? ask Habibie in your heart.
“Mr. Navarro how old is he?” whispered Habibie while turning her body backwards, towards Thann.
Thann turned his body to face Habibie and frowned. The tattooed man did not immediately reply, he seemed to be thinking. “Mr. Navarro departed and became friends with the lord of my kingdom. That means hundreds of years old. However, you should not ask someone who is hundreds of years old.”
“Why?” ask Habibie.
“Lord in my kingdom once cursed someone so jumping daggers for asking about age and saying there are wrinkles on his face,” Thann said solemnly. “Do not occasionally discuss age to someone who lives long!”
Habibie only shuddered in horror and instantly turned his body back to look at the headmaster.
“Addison, looks like I'm going to throw up. Where's my vomit bag?” said Mr. Addison then covered his mouth with his hands tightly.
Addison frantically dismantled the principal's equipment. “For a while Sir, your equipment is aplenty. I'm confused looking for it!”
Mr. Navarro is increasingly showing suspicious activity. Addison has yet to find the sought-after pouch. A few seconds passed so slowly, while the boat continued to go full speed splitting the ocean.
“Looks Mr. Navarro will vomit,” Habibie said with a panicked face. His dragon was yawning and hiding behind the brown man's back. As if knowing what will happen next.
Addison's panicking. “Sir, hold it for a minute. I almost found it. Here goes! Don't throw up first in pera—“
Hueek …
The liquid floated in the wind past Habibie and Thann.
Why is the principal a burden on this team, anyway? Just bother! thann said in his heart. I'm gonna take a shower and go home.
