Luccane

Luccane
Chapter 54: The Mysterious Guide

As Andri's car slowed down due to the heavy road that night, my mind was distracted by the mysterious male voice I heard a split second ago.

But I chose to be quiet, reluctant to disturb Andri's driving concentration considering the road also became slippery because of the heavy rain that had just fallen.

"What do you think?" andri asked suddenly to tear into silence.

"Think nothing, just look at the sights again," I quibbled, making Andri laugh.

"What views? the person on the left right of this road is just empty land where it is dark anyway," Andri replied with the rest of his laughter made me laugh along.

Because of the heavy rain, the area we passed tonight was hit by a slight power outage making the atmosphere gripping.

"Have it done, you don't have to think about anything that's not. We just need to focus on finishing our business with the authorities after this," Andri said trying to entertain while still focusing his gaze on the highway.

"Yes yes, thank you very much, Andri. I hope it's all over soon" I chimed in with a thin smile.

The car sped slowly but surely, crossing the wet road still flushed by the torrent of rain. Me and Andri then talked lightly, trying to entertain each other with joking dimeh that was occasionally thrown by Andri until we finally managed to arrive at the Mang Ujang family home.

The couple welcomed our return with worried faces, making my heart feel guilty. I feel bad for involving Andri and his family so far when at first I refused to stay with this family.

Mang Ujang swiftly opened the trunk of the car, brought in a bag containing my clothes while other items I will take care of next time after the investigation process from the police was completed.

"Come in, kid. Later you guys even get sick," said Aunt worried while embracing me and Andri to enter the house.

"What the hell are you guys doing?" mang Ujang asked firmly after we all went inside the house.

I looked down deeply, while Andri gently rubbed my back.

"So this is Dad, because Visha and I can see things that no one else can see, so we have to do all of that for the good of everyone," andri said trying to explain briefly what happened to his parents.

"For the good of all how? You guys got the police involved, how could we not be worried?" press Mang Ujang.

"Mamangs... Aunties... Forgive Visha yes, all because of Visha who was injured due to interference from 'them'. So because Andri has the same ability so Visha tried to ask Andri for help but we both did not expect that the problem would be complicated like this," I also tried to explain even with a voice that shook from trying to hold back the cry.

Andri still faithfully rubbed my back gently, while Aunt clasped my hand trying to calm myself down. Mang Ujang also seemed worried so I could not resist my crying, feeling moved and sad.

"So Neng Visha was badly injured yesterday because of that?" ask Aunty.

I nodded in agreement, making Mang Ujang and Bibi sigh deeply.

"Then you have to finish everything well. Remember, you also cannot get hurt. Understood?" tukas Mang Ujang later.

"Yes, then you two have dinner there, then it's just a break" Auntie said gently, directing me and Andri towards the kitchen.

I stepped back, my stomach felt reluctant to accept food but what is it okay for me to keep eating so as not to get sick more things that I have to take care of.

...****************...

The rain still accompanied my night, did not subside also a little stuff. The rain was even more heavy making me pull my blanket up to the chest.

The rumbling sounds were so scary, they drove away the silence that usually accompanied me every night since Luccane and I could not see each other again. Even so, I tried to keep my eyes closed who knows I can sleep well tonight.

"You missed something, Vishabea. Your cousin is right there's something the current homeowner is involved with Vin!"

"Who are you?!" my question was full of emphasis despite trying to hold my voice so as not to be heard out of the room.

"You don't need to know who I am, which I obviously intend to remind you not to miss anything bigger. Will the police call the owner of the house tomorrow?"

"Then what should I do?"

I ventured to ask even though I felt doubtful with the words spoken by that no-man's voice. Moreover, that voice had indeed disturbed me since I was still on my way home earlier.

"Meet the man, you have to dig up as much information as possible. Ask the man to talk while looking into his eyes, you will definitely find something. Didn't you know that the eyes are the windows to one's soul?"

There's a point too. During this time I rarely met the owner of the house, we only met face to face twice but from the beginning I remember only the good looks of the owner of the house that seemed unusual.

"But what's wrong with such a handsome and rich-faced man? I did not find any peculiarity at all," I said as I tried to recall the moment I met the owner of the house.

"You're really slow, Vishabea. Didn't you know that the house was taken over by a former Babu who once worked for the Luccane family?"

"I know very well about it. But what's wrong with that? who knows, the former Babu married a Dutchman so he can get a handsome offspring like the owner of the house," I reply.

"Don't argue with me, you just have to look him in the eye and don't ask too many questions. If you still haven't found something even though you've looked into a man's eyes it means you're really slow."

What's wrong with Mr Ricky's eyes, the man who owns the house? Why should I look into his eyes? But what I can do, it looks like I have to try to do it who knows I will actually find something that can be used as the next clue to solve the mystery of the Luccane family.

"Whatever you are thinking about right now, I hope you can do well. Just do as natural an interaction as possible with the man so you can look him in the eye, after all who would not want to be stared at by a girl as beautiful as you?"

"Yes, okay. I'll try to do it as best I can tomorrow."
