"What happened after that?"
Meneer Willem's increasingly sad gaze now looked at me, making my breath choked in my throat.
"What we think will be the best way, it will be a great catastrophe. Unbeknownst to us, he's getting mad, killing others just to satisfy his inner desires" said Meneer Willem, with tears streaming down his face.
"If you know the child has a mental disorder why not treat it immediately? Hiding Vin is not a solution at all, Meneer!"
"That's my biggest regret as a father, Mevrouw. I failed to educate my son until he became such a monster," replied Meneer Willem still with her tears streaming down, describing how deep the man's regret was.
I was stunned, the sadness and regret felt so strong that binding Meneer Willem tonight made my feelings feel painful too.
The feeling of the Dutch man felt very strong, brought me to feel it too.
"When Luccane was taken by the Japanese army and my wife and I were also dead, Vin didn't manage to find it even today."
"Where was Vin when you and your family were massacred by Japanese soldiers?" my question is inexhaustible, considering Vin's condition is very full of mysteries different from both his parents and his brother.
"At that time, as usual Vin always kept quiet at home for obeying my orders as his parents. He often spends his time in the room reading books. After my wife and I died, I had no idea where the boy was because we were sealed inside this house."
"Well, Meneer, thank you for giving me a little bit of information."
Meneer Willem's explanation led me to draw a conclusion that I must immediately prove the truth in the near future at all costs. I'm sure there must be something more closely related to Vin and I have to make sure of it myself without Andri's help.
By the way, I haven't seen Vin in a long time since he came last time to tease me that day.
When will the boy come to me again?
...****************...
"Where are you going today?" greeting Carly as usual over the phone, making me a little jolt because of her loud voice.
Andri who was sitting next to me then put on a kepo face, making me quickly keep my distance from him.
"Not anywhere I am, this is again nginep at Andri's house," I replied ala perfungnya, making Carly exclaim more excited.
"What indeed? Si Andri do not ngajakin lo streets around Bandung that?"
"Andri just finished the exam, he just started taking a day off today" I said.
Carly is a typical friend who is excited, likes to respond to various kinds of trivial things with excessive making our friendship feel more exciting. I did not expect, until this moment can still be good friends with the girl.
After a while, my conversation with Carly agreed that we'd end it. There was no important talk, he only told me that he went home to his family in Bali for a vacation.
"Bonch what? I think it's a big scene" Andri said with her mouth full of almond cookies.
"Carly' isn't always excited. He just told me that he was going back to Bali, his parents' house," I replied.
Andri mangosteen, again eating almond cookies made by his mother with enthusiasm. Just like Mama, Bibi is very good at making typical European pastries with a very delicious taste. No wonder, when approaching the holiday, Bibi will be very busy making pastry orders from various groups of people.
"Oh, if he wants to take you out on vacation," Andri said, making me look at him with a code.
Since I lived in Bandung, I have never been around the city. Who knows, going with Andri will be even more fun.
"Yes, let's say it first with Mom," said Andri who can immediately understand the code I give.
I smiled triumphantly, inching vigorously to Aunt who was sitting on the porch, watering some of her houseplants.
Aunt smiled gently, nodded later.
"Can kok. But get in the car, yeah, I'm afraid you're raining now again rainy season."
"Andri, change clothes! We're leaving now!" I exclaimed enthusiastically to Andri who was sitting in the living room.
The young man only smiled wryly, then sauntered towards his room.
"Thank you, Auntie. What are you gonna take, Bi? Let Visha be with Andri to buy it," I bargained.
Aunty shook her head. "no. you guys just walk around to be satisfied but don't go home last night."
I nodded obediently, then inched towards the room to change my clothes.
Today is a working day, the streets are certainly not so jammed when compared to the weekend.
When I finished preparing, Andri and I went to Bibi.
Using the sedan car owned by Mang Ujang, we began to move to explore the city of Bandung.
The sky was already cloudy, as gray as my heart felt emptier.
The Luccane I love the less I come to see me, the more uncomfortable I feel. I don't know what's going on, but I always hope that all the good things will happen to me or Luccane.
"You still think of Luccane?" andri asked straight to the point, making me take a deep breath.
"How can I forget? My feelings for Luccane are already deep," I replied languidly.
Andri nodded in understanding, it seemed that the young man's attitude had softened a little to Luccane. He seems to know what Luccane did just because he loved me.
"If Luccane wasn't a ghost, I wouldn't mind you marrying him" Andri half-jokingly made me chuckle.
The streets of Bandung today look crowded smoothly, accompanied by a drizzle that accompanies the journey of me and Andri to spend the holiday.
"I know my relationship with Luccane is not worth it. I also realized that we could not unite. But who can control his feelings?"
My voice began to tremble withstanding the cries, Andri's outstretched hand rubbed the top of my head gently. I really don't know how to explain how I feel right now.
The only person who knows how sad my story and Luccane's is Andri, the only person I can trust.
"You and Luccane are innocent, all because of the wrong circumstances" Andri replied as he thrust a tissue box at me.
"Did I just die so I could be with Luccane?" my question was desperate to make Andri step on the brakes of his car suddenly.
"Never once do you think of ending your life.if your life is also over, it is not a guarantee that you can unite with Luccane as you want" said Andri firmly.
I poured into Andri's arms, spilling sadness that I could no longer bear alone.
"Cry if it can really make you relieved. But we'd better go on our walk, remember? 'you're the one who took me for a walk around town."
I nodded lethargicly then let go of my embrace from Andri. The young man smiled gently, returning his car across the highway along the city of Bandung.
Old buildings with European architectural styles began to greet my sense of sight, making me feel like I was traveling through time in a city that was a silent witness to my love story with Luccane, the handsome ghost that I love so much I don't know until when.
